My daughter turns 3 in December and by my surprise she is doing realy well with the potty training, but when we go outside I put a pull up on her and she stays dry, I'm just worried that if she needs to go and (she does tell me) that there ain't no toilets around, and being a girl makes it a bit harder going outside to pee

Planning on starting with my 2 year old. He lets me know when he has to #2. I’m just going to be sure to ask him to potty every now and then for #1 until he learns . Wish me luck. If he isn’t ready , I’ll try again at a later time. I know pressure doesn’t help and only harms the process 🤞

Congratulations on starting your potty training adventure! 🥈🏆🚽⭐🧻🏅 Thru the years I've learned that potty training is not one-size-fits-all. There is no magical "sign" that a child will be like: “Hey Mom I’m ready now! I can totally control my bodily functions and be a big kid. I wanna start using the toilet now!” 😅 Don't worry if your child doesn't show "interest" or check off every box in the "signs of readiness" list. This list is just a general guide to help give you an indication of where your child is with their behavioral and physical readiness. *Note: a child doesn't necessarily need to show ALL the signs on the every "list" out there. Those are more of a general guideline. In fact some kiddos never have these behaviors or show any signs of readiness at all. And some toddlers will completely resist the potty altogether. If your child is showing even just one slight indication that they might be interested or becoming aware, its good enough reason to start preparing for the potty training adventure! Since some kiddos might never show interest nor any signs of readiness or no awareness at all - it's really up to the parent to determine what is the right age to begin the potty training process to keep them on track to meet those milestones so that they'll be accepted into day-care, pre-school, pre-K and kindergarten school around age 3 or 4. So ultimately its the parent who know what is best, not the child. ⭐ Look for these signs of readiness! This helpful potty training video explains the checklists of indicators that your child is ready - as well as how and when to begin the process of potty training adventure. You'll find so many valuable tips and helpful ideas in my potty training videos! Here's the link for you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--TrGQi7r8gI.html

Good day Miss Jen! I am one of your followers on RU-vid and Facebook. May I ask something, we are on 12th day on potty training. My daughter issue is bladder control, she says or shouts pee after or during the process of urination. She can sit and pee, no issues on sitting on the potty. A little background my LO struggles on receptive language, but follows simple instructions and commands. She still drinks milk before bedtime (bottle). She's on pullup diaper during nap and bedtime only. Any suggestions as a professional how to successfully train her to urinate before it's too late.

👋😉 Hello. This is pretty common actually. Self initiating or speaking up and telling an adult might take some time to develop for many toddlers. Even for the most chatty, talkative, proactive, self aware & verbally communicative kiddos, it can take months before some kiddos will self initiate or show any indication that they're aware they need to go until it's too late. That or they just stop all together once they become bored as the novelty wears off. Plus kids are just really good at waiting til the last minute when their bladder is full to maximum capacity cuz they're ignoring their bladder urges. In my 39+ years of potty training experience I've learned that most toddlers probably won't verbally request or "tell" you they need to go potty until its too late... some kids dont make the bladder brain "connection" until they're a bit older. Many kiddos dont start to practice true toileting independence until around 4, 5 y.o. Every child is different. Heck I've known 7 year olds who still need prompting and reminding! Self initiating or self prompting and being proactive with their own toileting schedule is a skill that typically develops later/older. So until they master that, it will still the parent's job to be in charge of the potty break on a predictable schedule, setting timers and monitoring the child's bladder capacity and fluid intake. Being especially aware and attentive while the child is playing, busy, distracted, when most potty accidents happen. Have you given any thought to trying a potty watch? I love 'em for helping a child to stay on a predictable timed potty schedule! *It also helps them to start learning how to self initiate and be a little more proactive rather than reactive. As a professional potty training coach I've always found a potty watch to be VERY helpful tool because it creates a sense of accountability for the child to take themselves to the potty. You can set it for very 30, 60, or 90 minutes. Here's a quick video about the benefits & effectiveness of using a POTTY WATCH and when to introduce it as well as how to use it for specific timed increments throughout the potty training process! 😊👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M3zDFj9ab6g.html Try a potty watch! Kiddos like the responsibility of being in control of their own body, their schedule and when they go potty. 💗 Pink apple watch style: amzn.to/4bmXTz3 💜 Purple watch: amzn.to/4cz3anb 💙 Blue apple watch style amzn.to/45wIVnP 💚 Green watch: amzn.to/49gbhDq 💛 Yellow watch: amzn.to/4fzXwmT 🧡 Another cute style: amzn.to/42EMwil *Especially helpful for those strong willed kiddos that insist on doing things their way and on their terms. The potty watch kind'a makes it feel like its all "their" idea! 🤫😉 Its effective because its the watch telling them "its time" to go use the potty... not Mommy who's constantly asking and bugging and prompting and pestering and nagging them to go potty. This takes the pressure off mommy always having to be "the bad guy" all the time. I've been potty training toddlers for 4 decades. So as you can imagine, I've tried every gadget & method in the book. I always have good luck with potty watches! Worth every penny in my opinion. Seriously. They're sweet, they're musical & flashy and it makes potty time FUN for your toddler-in-training!! It's a new sparkly bling and a colorful toy as a potty training REWARD for your little cutie and its a very helpful tool for YOU! Might be worth a try?? 💗 A potty watch is a very helpful tool for successful potty training and they come in so many colors & different styles! Some styles have different timer settings: 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes. Some potty watches have a vibrate mode to turn off the music chimes. (ideal for at pre-school) Some have a replaceable battery vs a plug-in charger. Let your little cutie pick which color & style! Keep the watch long after potty training and use it for other so many other things! A potty watch can also help a child to time how long they should be sitting on the potty and when to get off so they're not sitting for long periods of time. ⭐ BONUS: These watches come in handy for all kinds of other activities, chores, timers for a count down to bed time, brushing teeth, play time, toy sharing & turn taking, watching shows, limit screen time, bath time... etc. Sooo many uses!! ☺👍

My toddler is 3 1/2 and has been withholding her poop to the point it gets hard and will fight me to go sit on the potty. The Dr suggested a Meralax cleanse and that this is a behavior issue! What can I do? Rewording her is not an option because she is spoiled lol we did bare butt and it worked for pee but cried until I put a pull up on her to poop but she will stand up and and crossed her legs and grunt to hold in the poop😩 what can I do if this is a behavior issue?

🥺 Aww so sorry you're going through this challenging struggle. I hear you Mama! This potty training stuff is HARD! Especially the poo part. It sounds like fear of release. Or it could be a control thing. Privacy issues. Even just one painful poo or negative potty experience can cause major setbacks and delays. Mastering the skill of pooping in a potty or toilet can take some kiddos a little longer to get used to! (...aaaand lots of practice) before they eventually become comfortable pooping in a seated position sitting down on a potty or toilet vs their familiar standing or squatting posture. Hang in there! I can offer some helpful advice! At this age/stage it will probably require some redirecting and reprogramming to unlearn this behavior. You'll want to determine if this is behavioral vs biological. Psychological or physiological. This is what I help families with who are struggling with your similar circumstances. This is a fixable issue, but the longer it continues - the harder it will be to unlearn. I offer private one-on-one personalized potty training coaching and long term support if you'd like some guidance and support to help you navigate thru this hun. Ive been potty training toddlers and older children for over 39+ years so as you can imagine I've helped many families navigate thru this. I'm here to help in any way I can. My 26 month old is potty trained at-home. We have very few accidents, and have never had a poop accident. However poop is a real struggle! She is scared to go, and cries everytime! She will cry multiple times and sit on the potty before the poop actually comes. So the whole process is tiring and traumatic for the both of us. I have no idea what to do!

Awww... poor little thing. I'm sorry it seems your little cutie is showing withholding behaviors. It sounds like fear of release. Or it could be a control issue. Either way bowel withholding and anal retention can lead to medical issues such as chronic constipation, lazy bowel and fecal impaction. 😥 You'll want to get to the bottom of these issues to determine whether it's biological or behavioral. Physiological vs . psychological. This is something we can work on together if you'd like to set up a time to talk. With some bowel training combined with my tried and true techniques I can personally walk you thru - we will be able help your little sweetie feel safe going poo in the potty instead of holding it in all day. I have been potty training for few weeks. She is luckily even starting poop on/in potty. Currently using potty training toilet. Her preschool is at a church and makes 3K and 4K use adult toilet. When should I teach wiping? 3K starts Aug 12
@NannyKnowledgewithMissJen
@NannyKnowledgewithMissJen 4 месяца назад
👋☺ Hi Great question! Wiping is a skill that needs to be taught. It doesn't happen automatically. Plus toddlers dont yet have the motor skills nor the reach so it can be a bit clumsy & messy. Here's a quick helpful video for you that explains how to teach your little cutie about wiping to help your child use these moments as opportunities to learn this very important step of clean-up and healthy hygiene. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2ZGyc-jQPyA.html •It might be more comfortable for your little cutie to continue using a moist baby wipe during the potty training process because it feels familiar. TP might feel dry, rough, scratchy. Plus let's face it: moist wipes do a better job cleaning off the brown stuff! 🤐 No one ever talks about teaching a child how to do their own wiping! amzn.to/4bsIa1d I personally like using kandoo wet cleansing wipes designed specially for kiddos & toddlers in training. Just the right size sheets for little hands to learn how to wipe, these wipes are hypoallergenic, flushable, unscented for sensitive skin!

👋☺ Hi. As a professional potty training coach and a nanny child care giver for 4 decades, I always have the best success using a small toddler potty on the floor before introducing a small child to sitting up on the regular big adult toilet. At least in the beginning, until they're a little more experienced with toileting and have mastered pees & poops in a training potty. The regular big adult toilet is tall and scary and loud. Here's a helpful video that explains the benefits and effectiveness of using a small toddler potty for training vs the regular big adult toilet. As well as transitioning from the small learning potty to the big adult toilet. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C4qHeQ5Ywm8.html

Hello Miss Jen, lovely video by the way! I loved your kind and persistent approach and for the love of God I don't understand why in the most affluent countries potty training starts so late?!

I agree! I think the convenience of disposable diapers and training pants likely has led some parents to delay toilet training. I hope you're finding lots of valuable tips & helpful ideas in my various potty training videos! They're free on my youtube channel and they're only @ 10 minutes! I also offer private personalized potty training consultation appointments if you'd like some one-on-one coaching and support to help you navigate thru this sweetie.
