When I first saw this movie I was in my late teens, now I'm nearing 40 and still everytime Aragorn says: "my friends, you bow to no one" I'm in tears. These three films are truly epic masterpieces!
what makes LOTR the goat, is basically the whole country was behind the movie. no hollywood movie of this scale, was ever made in new zealand, especially from an unknown director of horror/splatter film. i know so many family and friends who were cast as extras or production people, builders, accountants, caterers etc. when you have a small population of 4 million behind a movie, you bet its gonna be a once in a life-time achievement.
imagine my brother, if we had a ruler like him. strong, intelligent, empathetic and compassionate. it feels too good to be true, especially in this era. but I never stopped hoping it would happen. maybe not now. but it will definitely come true. I believe it
Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien. Sinomë maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta. [...] Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come. In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.
I'm 38 years old. I've seen that first time with my father in 2000 years in the cinema(may he be with Illuvatar now) and every single time i watch this tears keep rolling down my cheeks 😢
I cried, for happiness, for love, for it was an ending, but in my heart and soul will forever live this movie and all the others that came before, this trilogy marked my entire life, a before and after.
Small thing. But look at Hugo weaving (elronds) face as he gives away Arwen. He perfectly blends hope, love, pride, but despair and loss all together so so well. He’s barely keeping it together for her, but keep it together he shall.
