Cold Cement means the sole unit is made separately then glued on. Injection means the hot rubber, plastic or foam is injected into the mold that has the tread design on one side and the upper of the shoe fills the other side. The sole material fills the space.
Good video, definately useful. Given your experience and techincal knowledge, i understand that making the shoe would be the easy part, however marketing and sales would be critial, do you know of a person(s) like yourself who has experience and skill in both marketing and sales respectively?
@@hippycobbler4092 yes you are very inspiring and extremely talented. I have feet of hand fashion and footwear on paper. I hike while studying in Western Mass.
Hey great video! You spoke about cut and buff and it being too wasteful. I think you said Nike classics embold’s some of their shoes. How does that work?
@@thesneakerfactory830 Good afternoon l would like 10 pairs of shoes last 5 pairs for to make sandals 5 pairs for men shoes please let me know if is not expensive l will buy 10 of them tell me how much is going cost
Are you familiar with "Fuse Overlay"? it's some kind of synthetic material on newer running shoes that is bonded over mesh uppers to give rigidity? It's prominent on the Asics Gel-Terrain.
Yes, this is TPU Thermoplastic Polyurethane. it can me made in any color and clear, and in sheets of almost any thickness. You can flat weld or weld with a 3D mold. And factories will layer it for 3D effect without a 3D mold and can be printed on the top or bottom surface. Now very common
Would be awesome video where you discover local manufacturers and their product that people can buy. I accidentally saw your channel and it seems to me that you understand this side of the business. It would be awesome if you would have made a video about affordable shoe makers and why their product is good.
A nearly complete kit like this is great. Maybe a public Amazon shopping list for the extras? For what it's worth, I've bought Barge on Amazon for delivery to California, no problem.
@@thesneakerfactory830 thanks , i already made the last but when i measured it i didn't seem like a size 9 , when u measure the instep and joint .. but in the same time it won't get into my shoes , i was confused 😄, now im trying to make a last but with layers of foot outline , to build like a block and then carve and trim it , what do u think ?
My humble opinion... When I was in the Legion we only used these (occasionally) in the compound on down time. they were an alternative to wearing track shoes or sport shoes. In the bush we wore regular black leather boots, the sole was really tough and it offered ankle support... these Palladium have a bad sole and stones get stuck in the profile all the time... Now of course the market is full of great boots by Meindle and Haix etc etc which replaced the black leather boots... Palladium (and a few other makers) were fine for their time... that time was Indochine and Algeria, where there simply were no alternatives and light boots were needed... they are now way outdated... I still have a few pairs, newly bought, for summer wear... but I would never have put my trust in these in the field... especially on a long march
Thank you very much! Yes I should have explained these are an old design. I use the modern EVA versions and yes it collects stones every time I wear them. Keep watching!
Subtly interesting style. The grosgrain over the quarter seams got me thinking. Not sure I'd want to ruck a full pack on those heels, though! You definitely got me nervous wrangling that snap knife fully extended. Might treat yourself to a mill knife next time you're at shoe supply, or on Amazon. Hyde, C.S. Osborne, and even Dexter all still make decent ones for honest money. Protect them dawg paws. Congrats on your new pair. Maybe they're telling us the French Foreign Legion has a secret space squad?
I've been thinking about this too. and polyester is much better, Mode color stable when wet, will dry faster and I expect is more durable under friction. Also for any molded footbeds you will need polyester as it can conform to the during the forming operations. Thanks And Keep watching!
Hello, i have a little confusion with the Standard Last Length measurement, you said in your book that the Standard Last Length is measured "from the heal seat to the toe point", but the Heel Seat is defined to be "the flat section of the heel", while in the picture where the SSL is presented, the measurement of SSL seems to start from furthest point at the heel (so under the heel curve) -> to the toe point. Is the 2nd variant correct? Thank you in advance.
Why is the strobel stitching initially done only till the top half, is there a reason as to why they don't just stitch the upper to the insole board completely ?
What you are seeing is the lasting apron for the toe/Vamp of the boot. The lining is fully stitched but they will need to use a lasting machine to pull the toe down. Also in this case they will be attaching the steel toe before the leather vamp is pulled tight. Great Questions. Visit www.shoemakersacademy.com to lean more
