Nice little video. Thank you for sharing. I’d like to go to Switzerland via train, so it’s good to know it’s possible in one day. I didn’t know the Swiss used a different socket, either. Good to know 👍
Did you spot the rare Edward VIII pillar box adjacent to the Grade II Listed K6 telephone kiosk immediately outside Wanstead Station? Redbridge Station is also Grade II Listed although it's pre-war Holden design was considerably watered down in construction because of post-war austerity measures.
Seems a little rough and ready. "Lemonade with open thighs" is simply one of the weirdest signs I've seen. The metro seemed pretty good. Interesting to see Vesuvius can be seen. Thanks for the upload
Hi, you an book Italo here www.italotreno.com/en and Trenitalia here www.trenitalia.com/en.html There might be some sites like Raileurope www.raileurope.com/ that offer both, but I am not 100% sure on that. Good luck
Im wondering if there are any times or days when its less busy. Id like to see the Colosseum but for me it would be a single visit only. Thanks for the upload
I’m guessing that Rome in August is just a bad idea. The Forum was quiet late on when we went that evening so maybe the Colosseum would be as well? Otherwise just avoid the peak summer season if you can.
I'm from Bologna, some year ago I was in Netherlands and hungry. I found a restaurant "Brownies and downieS". I tried their meatballs and when asked how they were I answered "Very dense". Dense in Italian is heavy, you made a good Italian mistake and the weather can't ne angry. Unfortunately I can't say the same with the down dutch waiters 😅
@@TravelsWithCharlie Brownies & Downies is a chain of restaurants primarily operating in the Netherlands with a single branch in Baarle-Hertog, Belgium. As of 2024, the franchise consists of 59 locations, all of which primarily hires those with learning disabilities in an effort to de-stigmatise them and provide opportunities to those with them in the hospitality industry
Which Italian city do you recommend visiting? There's all the obvious ones - Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples - but how about the lesser known ones?
A third time in Bologna, and let me know when, I offer you a free walking tour through the city secrets and one ice cream in a local good artisanal gelateria (venchi is just a franchise). If you come to Italy the best way to enjoy it is having a local friend and with your final choice you have made one 👋
You're a weird Dad telling your daughter about all the people who were murdered and how they killed all the animals. She's just a kid man save that grim history shit for old men at the pub not a preteen girl, jeez.
Good question. Sadly it’s been a year and I can’t remember but I think they were good. Travelled on Trenitalia again this summer and the toilets were fine 👍
I don’t know if they do. You would all need tickets as you have to board through the passport control/ticket office. I guess you can have as many as you want in the cabin once aboard.
That's a bit exagerrated. Between Vienna and Budapest you travel only 2:40. Who says, this is a nightmare in second class, did never experience a real nightmare. Ps. I am a Viennese and I went this way maybe 20 times in my life, all the time with second class.
It wasn’t second class that was the nightmare, it was the behaviour of people when we all became stuck in the corridor. I almost always travel second class, I’m quite happy there 😃
So apologies, we have been busy outside of RU-vid and it took a while to get around to editing the second part of our trip up north. More videos in the pipeline so watch this space!
Certainly are free - the car parking isn't free but if you're just riding from Terminal 5 to the car park and back for fun...it's free. Definitely worth it if you're in T5 and have a spare 20 minutes
The Lookout and Horizon22 did need booking but were free. The others you just turn up. Post Office building asked for ID I think but no booking. Canary Wharf was just upstairs and free to visit, and Garden at 120 had a queue but no booking. Might need to check open hours though for all
The comparison is not compleately correct because Frecciarossa has another, higher, level: executive; a level that is pure luxury (and definitely expensive). In my opinion Frecciarossa is far better; Italo, in the pre-pandemic period, was extremely cheap; once I travelled between Torino and Verona with 9,99 Euros; nowadays fees are almost the same.
Hi - so we travelled on a 5-day interrail pass which cost £283. My son was 11 so went for free (bargain!) and I see this now costs €318 for 5 days. We then paid £57 supplement for Eurostar tickets to Paris and I think the Paris-Zurich train was included in the interrail ticket. Sorry, probably not much use as an answer. Best place for advice on this journey is www.seat61.com/Switzerland.htm#london-to-basel-and-zurich-by-train A quick search on www.raileurope.com/en suggests tickets one way could be as low as £95 but could be way higher. It's a fun journey though
Dude at 5:08 you captured something amazing and special and most Hungarian train spotter trying to catch as well the V43 1001 the first one that was build of V43 series that loco been in service since 1963
Er…no. I think you’ve missed the point. It was intentionally making a dramatic point to highlight how different the two trains were on the same route. The contrast amused me
This route is notoriously late and the delays building up are always within Germany. At least you had a compartment with a bed nevertheless its not nice when you are planning your time.
Thanks for this video - I am visiting in a couple of weeks, and wanted to ride the Central line north of Stratford. I have been trying to figure out the loop, because when you look at the official TFL map, you would think you could ride a train all the way around non-stop. But when trying to get timings from the TFL Plan-a-Journey website, it won't let you go all around the loop. Your video has cleared this up for me. Thanks again :-) (oh and Grange Hill - how can Charlie not know what it is!! You'll have to download him the repeats ;-) lol )
Hi, I’m not sure on those details but I did all my research at this website, and it has all the links to booking websites etc www.seat61.com/index-mobile.htm
