Channel about Riptide and other heroes in the future! We try to bring the whole Riptide community into one place to allow info to spread to all. Our videos focus on maximizing the info and different views of the decks/builds. They tend to be more longform, but don't skimp on the info so you know you get all there is to offer!
I tried to get it as right as possible. Next time Ill try to increase my own so I dont have to adjust it all in post as much. I tried to test it on max volume so that the worst case it wasnt to loud for anyone. Ill get the balance better next time for sure.
Its a good question, so its basically that Riptide gets to play on a different axis. We can block (with effects and damage pings) while still maintaining a good damage output. Riptide can function on a 2 card hand, Azalea barely does. Aim blocks better than Azalea does and is less disrupted by arsenal hate, making it less fatigue. Overall the hero is just more flexible and when he bricks as rangers do, he still gets more value out of his cards than Azalea. He also wins harder vs certain match ups like Assassin, Warrior, and Illusionist. There is more to it than that but I will let Towelie take chime in for it.
Aim also has way more control over what they can do vs Azalea, Azalea just plays cards without thinking much and hoping it gets through, where as we set up future plans by pitch stacking, preparing traps and combos to end games. Aim feels much more like a ranger thematically to me. We also have the midrange strategy easily available and easily pivotable into aggro, Azalea cant really block at all unless she needs to, where as we can take a whole turn cycle off to block, still ping, still disrupt and go right back into it. I think its a perfect example of why play either when you watch a match of the two heroes fighting each other.
I mean thats the meta right now. The difference is we have a good amount of polarized match ups that they have to god tier high roll on. Every hero can beat any hero. It just changes what the threshold is and what your win conditions are.
I've been wanting to play a solid Barbed Castaway style list since early Outsiders and it's so nice to see more support come along in the way of a precon deck disguised to be Azalea.
Hey, i don't know why this video was recommended to me, just a heads-up for you, because there's absolutely NO mention of what the name of the game is anywhere on your video, or description, you might want to change that :)
Ou interesting it reccomend it. I've added it into tags but it won't let you put this game in the options for Flesh and Blood TCG for some reason. I'll start adding it in the description in the future just in case this happens.
LOVE the video and agree with where you put heroes in terms of favored/unfavored. However the % seem to high to me. Zen doesn't have this many 80% matchups. By this if you avoid Victor/Kano Riptide should be the tier 1 deck? I love Riptide and agree he is massively undervalued. This just makes it looks like he's the best deck or second best. But regardless of that the video was awesome yall really need to keep up the content!
@TCGTALKYT It may seem like he has a super high % overall, but most of his match ups that are there have low rep. If you take them out then your left with a normal spread. We are favored into Assassin and many warrior builds by nature. However, warrior is not relevant right now so that % is wasted. With having Kano as an auto loss and Victor as a very bad match up, that gives us gem lottery chance. Also note that being 50/50 doesn't mean it should always or almost always win. It just means there are things that can't happen or have to happen to win, hense 50/50. Big example of the slightly favored is Azalea. If you don't hit buzz or have tempo, its hard to win. So you have to sb correctly and luck it a bit. But the moment you hit it or they wiff, you should win. He is very close to best deck, just has issues where the meta isn't super favored and has to dodge certain match ups/not get zen rolled. Tldr: if you take away warrior and the bad heroes, the spread is fairly normal.
Haha ya I paid for the top backing, and I'm getting into the game as my official 2nd game. I'll potentially break off a separate channel and do openings and such.
Great video! I think you arrived at it on your own but if not - if youd blocked pulping with the go again trap first it would trigger. The GA goes away as soon as you defend with a second card
I don’t see too much use for new horizons in this build bc of the new scope at least in the demo match, wouldn’t be crosswrap better? In order to use the wrap or trench as we need?
crosswrap ruins the synergy of aim..we cant aim with crosswrap. New Horizon allows us to flip for aim and keep an arsenal open if we dont fire, allows us to use double arsenal to set up. Plop down a Battering Bolt vs Zen and sit on it until you have enough buffs to go up and over..etc.
Sleep Dart into Levia is a double-edged sword. You certainly don't want to play it every time; always consider the consequences for the Levia player when you do. The biggest problem with it is that you might be helping her to flip into Blasmophet, and it's going to be a very hard game after that
How do you feel about the aim counter support that got spoiled for the azalea armory deck? Does it make aim counter riptide a real contender for the best version of rip?
Super stoked, the equipment and the buff look extremely playable, cant wait to test them. Wondering if theres going to be anything more spicy we can use.

Nice video! What do you mean by “a way to get +3 and a flip” with Lace with blood rot? (3:50)
exactly, not disruptive enough. Zen and Azalea just take it, it feels bad having the arrow just be taken and passed and they just swing in with a big turn or CNC...good card though im not against Heat Seeker, it just didnt work out in my testing as well as the arrows chosen.
I know it’s not too popular but have you ever tried feign death vs Kano? I have messed up their combo turn pretty good and it also works good vs brutes and a few others so it’s not dead outside wizard. I have for instance on a bloodrush bellow turn blocked 11 off endless maw. Kano always math things out but rarely expect Blazing Aether to do zero then have their equipments broken.
i tried, tbh i just throw the kano match, its not worth the mental tax lol plus i dont want to waste spots on one hero to "maybe" do something when he goes off. I see it being alright outside of Wizard, but in all those matches we do pretty good anyways. If it helped in Zen i would be down, but at most its like 4-5 damage in Zen on his 40+ damage turn.
@@towelie6632I think the common best in Zen would be to block Qi unleashed 7 but yeah probably often does 4 which is slightly worse than oasis respite.
Though Feign Death is generally good against Kano, it can loose you the game because Kano always have that priority resolution. A ping from Kano means a u blocking a wildfire combo to an aether dart for 1.
@@ramirgeddon what ping are you talking about? I swear Kano players just make things up. Wildfire in arsenal. Activate Kano pitching blue let resolve. Pitch to aetherweave 2 floating. Activate Kano pitch blue. Hold priority activate ragamuffin draw blue put blazing on top. Kano activation hits blazing. 1 for storm 2 for wildfire. 3 in hand, 2 floating, 1 tunic = 6 resources. Use boots to activate wildfire + meta. 6 damage you AB 3 to reduce 3. 2nd spell 1 + 3 + meta = 5. Blazing aether + meta would do 9. You stop that damage using tunic. That turns a 17 damage combo to an 8 with a 2 card hand. There is no more resources or “priority resolution”.
@@Legaleagle0200 so... Lets say, they play a wildfire that resolves and hit, then go and plays lessons in lava... U play feign death in response, while it is on the stack they kano and hit a dart on the top and play it and resolve first. So, feign death blocks the damage u take from dart than the lessons. Lessons hit search for blazing and gg... Epots can make this happen + 1 tunic
I'd use Collapsing Trap very carefully vs Zen. If you do it at the beginning of the turn it won't matter. If you do it mid turn they'll likely discard tigers to draw real cards. I'd only use it when they have a single card left, so they just discard that one, and even if it was a tiger you may have disrupted their attacks that require to use a tiger just before. (that being said, I lost anyway 😅)
I know yall mainly play the competitive builds. But with the hype of aim it may be cool to see what your take on SSGB or fljptide would build would be!
I've been on the 12-15 blue and a mix of 3 cost attacks with Dreadbore since my early Riptide testing, nice to see it get some more traction. The deck has only gotten better with the new bracer and Murky Waters.
I made a similar list in the early days of riptide, and 100% Kano is the worst matchup, so much so that I called my deck on Fabrary "Scoops to Arcane Damage" haha. Neat deck and something I could see myself running in the future!
I really like the add of stonewall I'm currently looking to pick them up after work today. Curious though how come you only run the one quiver, since rustling leaves has great synergy with new horizons?
We have very few blues and very few go again attacks that trigger off it. Being able to not be fatigued and keep power density is worth it in almost all match ups.
@@Joeheatwave. Thats such a hard card to value. On one hand it can be great for specifically kano.. On the other hand it technically costs 2 cards. Im just unsure cause its not useful in any other match up and kano is so bad already idk if its worth the sb slots.
It never felt like it was needed. Since we are running an aggro build, the only turns that its good on are the warmonger and ritl turns. Which we can just trench and load with bow for war turns. Stone felt better vs azalea.
@@NewHorizons-fab Interesting, thanks for the reply! Been using it for the warmonger turns and ive been liking it a bit. Love watching your guys vids! Also, how bad exactly is Plague Hive in Riptide? I cracked it and play it but wanna know how actually detrimental it is to the strat haha.
teklovosen is hard but i've beaten him with riptide as you pitch all your traps (you don't run a huge amount), and if they stupid enough to become the metropotent, you can ping all traps against him, on his 3 card hand. Naturally to build his Armor, he leaks damage early on, so you usually have a 10-15 life advantage by the transformation
Key word there is stupid. If they are bad then ya you can win. The assumption is that they are good at the hero. Aggo cant win vs good teklo, but hybrid has a shot. Flip is true for kano.
We need NH for a lot of the slower decks that try to block us out, we can pitch stack and setup a big end game turn combo, plus it lets us load arrows and keep some tempo when we draw all trap hands. Theres a video on the list on the New Horizons channel if you want to see the list breakdown.
Happy to see it helped and great of you to stop by! If you have any interest in the aggro variant or a more in depth on the match up spread, we also have those on the channel!
This build is super fun to play, sure it might not be the greatest in the current meta(compared to the aggro variant) but it’s super rewarding and feels good to pilot if you like slow games.
It's def in the lowest (like 55-60%), but still doable. It's like playing against a more fragile Kayo. They are a glass Cannon and if they roll mid to low, we win. If they roll well to high, we lose. There are also a lot of factors like collapsing trap that play into that. % is basically if you played 10 games you should win that many times.
There are 2 videos going more in depth with aggro on the channel. 1st one is the pre MST list but does go over some fundamentals. The 2nd video is updated list. Here it is as well: fabrary.net/decks/01HX3MAZ5XA4MTKENDHZA97QKM
I'm curious, why is nobody running Barbed Castaway? It seems a much better fit in this list. You are able to run some actual great arrows, like barbed undertow, hemmorhage, immobilizing shot, murky water becomes amazing, murkmire and blue sedation/withering shot becomes much better, and you can play good pumps like dead eye and melting point. You can actually force your opponent to block you, instead of just, nah, i'll take a bit of damage.
Barbed is very rough right now, it doesnt help the game plan at all, they can full block everything, there are no really amazing aim counter arrows either. Also Barbed would be a whole other build. I have a couple barbed builds im working on, some gameplay on my channel, but they arnt that good, they very fun to play though. Barbed might be good one day but its very mediocre right now. Also Dreadbore is just insane solid value against a lot of heroes, the awkward blocks make it super good.
I have about 3-4 Barbed list lol, I’m trying everything to see what works. I have a fatigue leaning one, aggro and kind of balanced one as well, then I have an older one that Is just kind of best of arrows and traps.
It seems good to me in fatigue in general. You get 5 value without losing the cards you bottom of deck. If you get caught with an arrow and a weird hand it makes them attack boosts. Loss of AB is the main thing I miss
43:37 the reason why Buzzsaw worked like that is because the manifestation is getting the +1 counters - it does not have a base attack value. Awesome gameplay and cool list!
Pretty sure its a bug, should still be attacking for 1. As its base power is 2 - frality reduces it by 1 and then it doesnt get its counter buff due to buzzsaw.
It was about the Tunic build. It would lead to just a long conversation/debate that's just not worth having for either side. This build isn't built for Tunic so that's it. Sorry about the audio, I'm still trying to work with my settings but didn't want to delay it anymore than I did.
