Agreed to all the previous comments, too much colorful effects, hud seems out of place (why not use «tactical hud» from the workshop? fits much better in bfe art direction), also why use default bfe anims, when we already have a great reanimation pack on the workshop? If that's gonna be a defenitive way of playing bfe, it should be included in the mod
So is there more we could expect from this? Just a spectacular ambiance video or could we also be expecting a surprise release of a SS2 remaster from you?
I just finished Sam 4 and SM a day ago, and here's what I dont agree with in your video: -Tourism simulator with monsters: This statements is accurate as fuck, but i don't view it as a negative thing, in fact, it was my favourite thing about the game, besides shooting monsters. The rome chapters, expecially the one with Nonna and the mech, is honestly beautiful to walk across. even if I'm not shooting something. Of course I'm not talking about Breakfast in France, as it is obvious it is unpolished and bad in general, god i hate breakfast in france. The next chapter is OK though, more walking along beautiful landscapes, especially the part when you're going to the survivalist barn to get the chainsaw rocket launcher. Amazing. -Cutscenes and humour: Cringe crap makes me wanna vomit, truly, but this is Serious Sam. most "cringe" are just dad jokes and people are overreacting. Also I don't think cutscenes slow or ruin the game, but then again, my favourite SS game is Sam 2, and I enjoyed dad jokes and silly cutscenes thoroughly. The bits when Sam is angry or grieving are kinda weird, but they're not bad at all, just cheesy. Again, this is Serious Sam at it's core. -Skill Tree: Dual weilding and NPC riding should absolutely be locked behind something, they're extremely powerful tools. Most of the other shit should've been a part of the core gameplay since the start, or removed completely. -The whole "Time Traveller trope": This is Serious Sam, nobody expected a AAA story, I'm just glad the whole thing makes sense and it's surprisingly cohesive. -Syberian Mayhem: As you said, this is what Sam 4 aspired to be, so what's the problem then? I fell in love with SM, I love everything about it, the humor, the cutscenes, the weapons, the gadgets, the level design, the vehicle sections, specially loved the secrets, it is the perfect modern Serious Sam game. Sure, for Sam 5 they can polish the story a bit, get rid of useless gadgets and make better vehicle sections (compared to sam 4). As those were unpolished as fck. My Take: It's Clear Croteam wants bring more people in, reflected in all the design choices, and the realistic artstyle is the natural evolution for the series, and it is clearly one of the team's focus points since the release of the OG First Encounter. It's clear the game isn't polished, even as of the time I'm writing this. But if they manage to pull a longer Syberian Mayhem for Sam 5, they can have my soul. As for the community: you can't be critic of the game using a modern lens, and then praise the fucking First Encounter with bullshit such as Kleer Alley. You can't be complaining about things such as the humour, nor the story, unless they feel foreign to the series, it's like you guys never even played the older games. You want me to believe that the reason Sam is in Chiapas is because a cosmic train of Croteam developers crashed against the alien ship, and that you're fine with that, but dissapointed that Future Sam comes out of a portal? or that the game has silly wee little cutscenes? be for real. I agree with most of your points tho, we deserve better. And I totally loved how you cover things, and you can be sure I ate the whole 4 hours of this documentary. Truly amazing shit, you need more subs.

- Bigger focus on story and cutscenes - Ambition vs budget issue - NPCs assisting you - Vehicles to shake up combat - Tries to be more than before - Bugs and glitches on launch - Mixed, divided reception - Wacky and bizarre story, with self aware jokes - Questionable voice acting, animations, and overall jank - 1000 minigun rounds and OP shotguns - No Mental Difficulty - Actually a fun game if you look past the awkward style and story Putting it like this, SS4 really isn’t that different to SS2, and that’s a game that got appreciation over time (liking Sam 2 isn't even a hot take anymore), even though people still enjoyed and defended that game when it came out
