Cheers Becks, good to hear about other UK T1D’s and how you manage your fitness schedule. It’s a bit difficult for me as well as I’m a go big or go home type a guy. 😊
It's up to you every person is different. Some like the pump set what I hear from people. I know a lot of insurance companies. Don't cover a pump. It just 2 expensive, but if you got the money you go for it. But people use the pens faster and easier. And you have no trouble with any Insurance Company. They pay for everything you need. With insulin pens, check it out.❤😂😊😮
i prefer injection, the downside of pump is you will be insulin dependent, you don't give a chance to your body to heal itself and you don't know whether you reverse it or not.
My A1C is 5.4% One advice that truly helps is to avoid breakfast highs in morning is to eat low to zero carb for breakfast . Why are you doing oats? Its high high GI, Plus most of us are insulin sensitive in mornings. Honestly the yo-yo is not worth it. You can can have carbs in the other 1-2 meals. Honestly it works greatly cutting it off in mornings For breakfast go for eggs, sausages, avocado, mushrooms, spinach sauté, smoked salmon, cheese, cucumber slices, chia puddings (with almond or coconut milk) etc … most of us are insulin sensitive in morning. If you like bread, very simple have an almond flour wrap or almond flour toast (easy to make, plus available to buy). I have the almond flour bread with eggs, fritta, peanut butter, cheese cold cuts , turkey, avo smash with feta cheese, tomato and burrata ..etc so many options I’d rather not waste time carb estimating and correcting in morning while dealing with carb sensitivity. You will also have better mood starting the day with more stable BG and less fluctuations For lunch, I have protein with veg sauté or veg oven roasted or salad, or almond flour cheese toastie or almond flour wrap sandwich. I have higher carbs on my third dinner meal if I feel it (I choose one high carb option: potato, pasta, Chocolate or biscuits) For snacks, I have veg sticks, hommus, mixed nuts, yogurt with berries or kiwi or strawberries, dark chocolate cubes .. rarely some kind of protein bar … Ofocurse I have a cheat meal or snack but I try to limit it to few times a month max To avoid highs in morning, I tested reducing carbs in dinner verses dinner timing . It turns out timing is what makes a big difference , try to stop eating by 7/8pm - 9/10 max if I up late and woke late Honestly you can have lower A1C EASILY no fuss and no worry. Try it for yourself, test 1-2 weeks please .. hope it helps
I had y sugar out of control for very long and decided recently to gain control over it and start learning all over again to live with diabetes not for it, and I think it's wonderful to find videos like these, were you show a realistic point of view.
Are you still using the tslim x2? I've just been approved for a pump and was considering the tslim. (Omnipod isn't a viable option as I use too much insulin over 72hrs). How easy is it to retract the cannula on the infusion set? And how easy is it to fill the cartridge? Thanks.
My diabetic nurse is ordering my tslim soon. Going from pens for 9 years and this is making me real nervous, going from 2 insulins to just one. Not going too be using loop and will be dialing in. How have you started? Without cgm?. Or how would you find it without cgm?
Ok ok this might go Unnoticed😂😂😂😂 But it is a good idea to try the last resort sites NOW. Why? Because, insulin dependency isn't going away any time soon. And as you age, unfamiliar sites will get harder to get to physically. Also, you might actually like it MORE.😂😂😂😂
I am asking I am a restless sleeper but manly on sides and back how do you sleep with a tube pump and do you keep it from wrapping around you without unplugging
I received my letter today regarding background retinopathy, I’m type 2 diabetes. Not had a blood test for a little while, due soon. It was interesting to hear that your levels were good at the time.
I much prefer the flexibility and freedom of MDI, though I grant that a CGM is the key. If you understand your insulin/s and how they work and have the info to adjust as needed, it's hard for a pump to do a better job. With the ultra-fast-acting insulins on the market now, data is the key. If you know your numbers and know how to adjust them, the tools are available to do so without the hassle of a pump.
Ture Steel will pinch into the muscle. It will frequently push through the fat into a muscle and I stop getting insulin. Cause it's a needle I will literally pull it out and move the needle to another location. Cause I am so active I will oftentimes have to change out sites daily. It's been a huge issue but the true steel has saved me by "recycling" the same set.
Im so happy im not the only one going through it..i have just become a teenager on 1stmay 2022 (this year) and im already feeling so down and unmotivated despite being diabetic for past 6 years i have no motivation to manage my health..But after seeing so many vedios on yt regarding this issue i feel less lonely
Credit to you for remaining so patient! All being well, I should get my pump 4 months after my gp referral. Going for the t slim. Also hoping I can get the Dexcom 6 on the nhs
Wowwww thank you so much! I had no idea about the types of training and how they can affect my sugars differently. I always struggle getting a good workout due to dropping so low sometimes. So I’ll load up on the carbs and then I’ll be starting at 235 and eventually drop down to 60 by the end of my cardio and weightlifting session. Thank you!!
hey, just wanted to let you know that your channel is awesome! I am currently a trainee pharmacist and I am just trying to understand insulin pumps, your vids have helped me loads on understanding them!
