Thanks you so much I bought GoPro 13 yesterday and you increase me a lot of knowledge I want to buy good housing with holder and filter , How can I management this from your company?
Best video i have come across yet - thank you. About to try my dual strobes with Z9 and Nauticam housing for first time ever. Last time i shot underwater was a Nikonos with 36 transparencies so here goes my entry to digital underwater. THANK YOU (wish you were by my side on this live aboard in Indonesia).
Hi, for shooting macro images with a video light, we recommend using microscope mode or P depending on what type of subject you are shooting. Here is a link to our PDF for the settings guide as a quick reference as well. (www.backscatter.com/images/article/content/olympus-tg-6/Olympus_TG-6_Settings_Guide_Photo_Light.pdf)
If I know the kelvin value of my lamps, setting the WB with that specific value is a good option to keep for a wide range of shoots with low ambient light? I see that there is an option in the TG-7 to set specific kelvin value.
Hi, you can either set your kelvin to the value of your video lights or you can capture a manual white balance to an evenly exposed, neutrally toned scene with your lights on (like sand, a grey scuba cylinder, bare rock). If you have more questions on settings, please give us a call at 831-645-1082 or email us at sales@backscatter.com
Hi, both lenses cover 140 degrees. The SWLP has an optional filter slot for color correction. If you have any more questions please give us a call at 831-645-1082 or email us at sales@backscatter.com
Hi, the ambient white balance will only be good to about 10 meters or around 35 feet. If you go any deeper the camera may refuse to white balance or the results will have a magenta hue instead of blue
Hi, the best resources would be our TG-6 settings guide for shooting photos using a video light (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bhd6JJE_e8M.html) or our video settings guide (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ShhKgfPq1ps.html). The Air Lens really doesn't change the required settings for the camera, the only thing you have to keep in mind settings-wise is if you are switching from macro to wide angle. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at 831-645-1082 or email us at sales@backscatter.com.
It really depends on the type of photo you are trying to take. In general, flash is the most popular type of lighting used for pool work, since they have an easier time overcoming ambient light than a video light.
I just recently started diving in monterrey, late june for the first time. I've been coming down once a month since and look, it could continue to Dive the area
Hi, we haven't heard of that particular brand, but the Hybrid Flash should work with any optical trigger. As long as the housing has an optical flash trigger it should work.
You mentioned it's not great for photos. What if I do want to take photos but I want to stay around the same price point? At the same price point I figure I may as well just clip photos out of my videos on the GoPro right?
If you are looking for a great entry level photo camera, the OM System TG-7 is a great place to start. The TG-7 is very similar to the TG-6, please check out this review for more info (www.backscatter.com/reviews/post/Olympus-TG-6-Review-Easiest-Underwater-Compact-Camera). If you have any questions, please call or email at 831-645-1082 or email us a sales@backscatter.com
The TG-6 and TG-7 have a built in flash. The images taken from the review utilized an external flash that is triggered by the camera's built in flash via fiberoptic cable from the housing.
The TG-6 and TG-7 can be shot at night if you are using a video light or external flash. As a compact camera with a relatively small sensor, it will need light in order to get the best image quality.
Hi, some cameras do encounter overheating issues when used underwater. It is largely dependent on the type of camera and its thermal protections, as well as what resolution, frame rate, and file type you are recording to.
Thanks for the video! How do you get the camera back menu to connect/appear on your computer (for recording). I would like to record a sequence like this for my settings as you have done. I purchased a micro to HDMI cord, but it does not act as input to my laptop.
Hello, thanks for the unique and very informative review. OS-1 has been a gamechanger in my path into macro and snooting with the Mini flashes. Great product! Do you have information on if/when the snoot fir the HF-1 will be released/available? Thanks.
We're happy to hear you have been enjoying the OS-1 and Mini Flash! As for the Hybrid Flash snoot, we are working on it now and will hopefully have more info on it soon. Stay tuned for more info!
I just recently got this Flash and have never used it but I am going to give it s shot before the Anilao Macro Workshop in October. Now if you were shooting at the breakwater for Just Marco nothing else. would you recommend to just take this flash or would you take 2 strobes as well.
You can get away with a single flash for shooting macro, especially if you are just getting started. It is common to bring two flashes that way you have a backup, or you can use the target light on one of the flashes as a focus light.
Any news for when any R5 mii housing will be available? The available comparison diagrams show the two almost identical layouts/location except 3mm taller around the top/hotshoe so was hoping similar compatibility like in the 5DmIII and 5DmIV with Ikelite setup.
Hi, we are still waiting to hear from the manufacturers concerning housing availability. It usually takes a month or so for most housing brands to release a new housing for a camera that is new to market. We should have more info to come once official announcements are made.
Hi, for shooting videos of whales, the wide angle settings will be the best option. If you are within 0-20 feet of depth, no filter is necessary. I would also check out our Sharp Wide Lens Pro for a wider perspective for larger subjects as well. Here is a link for more info (www.backscatter.com/reviews/post/Best-Underwater-GoPro-Wide-Angle-Lens).
I see the setting options on the GoPro 12 are slightly different. Would you please at least create a GoPro 12 specific cheat sheet for the settings you would recommend. Thanks in advance!
BearBlessings to you all. I have a question for you Robin. If I wanted to go from using my 2 strobes into the mini flash how do I go about that without damaging my equipment. This would be my first time adding this system to my housing I am trying to get a better understanding of this Magic Creating Flash. I always appreciate all your videos and
Hi, to switch out your current strobes to Mini Flashes, all you have to do is swap them out with your fiberoptic cables and you're all set! This would be best used with a macro lens setup, as the Mini Flash 2 excels in this kind of work. If you have any more questions, feel free to email us at sales@backscatter.com or give us a call at 831-645-1082.
@@backscatteruw Thank you for that information. I was just concerned if water got into that hole where the connector is supposed to to be but it sounds like I should be fine
@@backscatteruw it sounds like I should be able to swap during a dive if I needed to swap underwater. Thank you again. This would be my first time using this mini strobe so I wanted to make sure before I took it all down
The videographer in who shot this reel used the palm of their hand for white balance. Overall, grey cards are preferred but the difference between using a grey or white card is pretty marginal.
Great video. I love you guys even more for the Rush references. (And the rest of the heavy metal references as well. But especially the Rush refs.) Great memory tricks, fantastic examples, well explained. Well done, Gents.
I appreciate all you folks down at backscatter. From the moment I made the contact your customer and Tech Support is very hard to match. I feel that I am getting more dialed in with my Sony A7R5. I was wondering if you can ever make a video about this mini flash color set. Tips. on how we can get creative with the colors. Thank you again for all the support. it make me feel like the investment was well worth it.
Tbh id say apart from resolution and feame rates its pretty much all the same theyve blurred the lines quite a bit, if you are doing standard vudeo and now slomo nobody will be able to tell the difference
