High handicap golf videos to show my journey trying to get better at the game. Starting the channel barely breaking 100 and hoping to break 90 by the end of this year.

I was waiting for this video to come out. Added bonus of watching myself and my two buddies in a couple of frames 😁 It was great to meet you on the course. Couldn't find your contact info to set up a round though...
I mean, all things considered, that's a pretty successful welcome back to golf. No practice, probably a lot less sleep lately, and the pressure of groups behind you and recording, and you still manage a respectable nine. Bravo.
@@MGGolf Last thing you want to do is play like me! I caught lightning in that round and have gone back to playing ridiculously inconsistent golf and shooting high scores again. Might be time to take up pickleball and start a pickleball channel!
@@MGGolf hey man, just wanted to tip you, i think you should do mobility exercises, golf swing is kinda like dancing, some poeple are natutally smooth and other are more stiff, but im pretty sufe you could train your overall body mobility, maxbe take dancing classes haha who knows but it will surely improve you 10-15hcp current cap you have, never seen a sub 10 hcp with such stiffness so yeh, love what you do and i wish everybody had that mobility im talking about
@@MGGolf i think youll always have a stiff style but you can surely drop 5-10 strokes by having better coordination and better body feel, im pretty sure if you wnna hit that ball at the same spot everytime you need full control over you body
You don't need fitting or even nice clubs I've shot under par with junior clubs, I've shot under par with old ass grampa clubs to probe to my friends that equipment doesn't matter nearly as much as they think it does
I'm sure I could keep playing my out dated game improvement clubs with incorrect shaft stiffness and learn to play around it. But why make the game harder?
Dude. You have some serious arm/hip speed. If you could strighten your legs/feet and learn to use the ground, you'd legit be a 280+carry driver no problem.
Lol. I know. Driver is the worst club in my bag with the highest potential. Range sessions can get to 300. On the course it's hot garbage usually. Thanks for the comment. Appreciate ya✌️
I don't think any golfer should get fitted clubs until he's around the 80's point. That's when you can actually start to tell a big difference in clubs. But at a 30 you're getting a lot of mis hits and your swing is inconsistent which makes it hard to fit. Especially these days when they go off of attack angle, and weight distribution and hand placement and all this stuff for fittings now it's wild.
My personal opinion is you don't need to get fitted clubs until you are about to break 80. My reasoning is because your swing has to be very good and consistent to break 80, and right now this swing isn't great. It's a solid swing but your hip and body rotation and arms and wrists need work. After you get that work done, you would need a new set of clubs. Like others have said, a lesson would be way more beneficial first.
I needed new clubs. I was playing game improvement clubs that weren't helpful. I disagree with not getting fit. The point of the fitting is to fit TO the swing You've got. And a swing will change through your entire career playing. Check my recent videos. My swing has changed a lot and I'm playing the clubs they fit me into and they feel great still. I don't at all disagree with getting lessons as I do that regularly as well. I plan to keep my clubs at least until my swing speed increases and I need x stiff clubs. I still appreciate your input and respect your view point
How come you not recommend a 7 wood or 5 wood instead of the 2 iron ?? I’m a 3 handicap i swapped my 3 iron for a 7 wood tsr2, can’t complain off the blue on long par 5 where i get 220-230 left to the pin after a 290-300yards tee shot, i have such better eagle opportunities missing way less greens from that distance et even if missing them its not by much and still recovering thanks to the higher spin and decent angle. Just miss the 3 iron on some kind of naked course without much trees and lot of wind but still can swap pre round
I didn't do a woods fitting with these guys. I have been thinking of trying a 7 wood. I don't really have anything good over 200. Just a hybrid I can't hit consistently
absolutely get fitted for almost anything. Only clubs i didnt get fitted for were my wedge, i just choke up on those but all my other clubs were cut half an inch. I ended up getting taylor sim 2's for my irons and ping g425s for my hybrids/driver. Didnt get any woods, and rolled with CBX 4 wedges
Did you need any lie/loft adjustments? I’m unsure of fitting someone with a very inconsistent swing. You can give a customer an idea of what they need in terms of a head, but differences between shafts and whatnot will be less tangible in my experience. I’d argue that beyond the head choice and actual specs of the club, the shaft is what makes the largest difference in determining what you should be purchasing.
@mattgenovese5891 no. Standard lie and loft. The job of a fitter is to fit clubs to ANY swing, regardless of consistency of strike. Give the player what works best i.e. most distance, best ball flight etc. If I could slice a ball and then hit a hook, would that make me unfittable?
@@MGGolf I somewhat agree. If a beginner comes in to get fitted, would you recommend lessons first? If they are able to produce a swing that is repeatable, I agree that is entirely a “fit-able” swing, even if it may be considered an undesirable swing. I’m relatively new to fitting people and I guess my question is, do you think a beginner golfer gets more out of a fitting process when they have a repeatable swing than someone who hasn’t reached that point? Thanks Also thought that you were the fitter, lol. I guess I was confused when you said standard lie and loft for the other guys clubs.
@@mattgenovese5891 I'm a relatively new golfer and not getting fitted ended up costing me time but thankfully no additional cost. I bought standard clubs out the box earlier this year since i just wanted to start golfing so i bought Taylormade sim 2's. I am 5'6 and realized later that my clubs felt long and after talking with a fitter and hitting a few adjusted club lengths, I realized I should've been playing clubs that were cut half an inch. This was well before I started taking lessons but I was at least playing golf 1-3 times a week.
While the info they were providing was generally accurate, these guys sounded like your typical fitter. Just trying to get players into the most expensive clubs on their wall. And if this is the swing simulator inside a billion dollar golf equipment fitting house, that is pathetic.
Also confused with this fitting process. They gave him 2 stock shafts, and one offered lower spin for his swing. There was no dispersion comparison between the two, or any other shaft offerings being tested. I wouldn’t pay for a fitting if they just handed me two stock shafts and said one was better than the other.
@mattgenovese5891 very common practice in fitting. Custom shafts cost more money and people will be less likely to purchase. If a stock shaft works well, why with it. It was pretty obvious the lower spin shaft fit me regardless of dispersion
@@MGGolf I know TaylorMade stock shaft offerings for the stealth series. I get that this was a free event, but I didn’t see them put any of the stock ventus’ on there, and it seemed they only tried a high launch hazardous shaft and that kai’li. There may be another shaft profile in a similar launch that might give you a better result. It also looked like they gave you a stealth HD which is naturally going to give you more spin and higher launch. Did you hit the normal stealth at this event? I’m sorry I keep coming back to these comments on a 2 year old video but him saying TaylorMade charges $200 for any stock shaft was a straight up lie from the fitters (you also can’t buy shafts from TaylorMade directly, you have to go through a third party as a typical consumer) they were really trying to get you to buy the stealth over the SIM (definitely a better driver than the stealth)
@mattgenovese5891 I was playing a weak slice when I went in, so the hd model makes sense for the head choice. And the pick up in distance with the kaili shaft was massive, so prolly no need to further explore shafts. I'm not trying to defend their choices or pretend I know their intents. Just wanted to make an informative video from a beginner perspective. After this event I purchased a used sim 2 driver and then bought a used kaili shaft. Both costing less than half of a brand new stealth. I'm sure at this point I could go into another fitting much more informed on equipment and with a better swing. But as a beginner I barely understood the difference between different shaft stiffness. So I took all I could out of the demo day while understanding they are essentially salesmen
9 over for 9 holes, would have you playing off an index of around 13, with playing handicap of 12 to 14 depending on course and which tees you are off.
I never put them on a scale. But they are very very similar. I didn't notice a difference myself. I believe they are both around 5 lb. I always get compliments on my toasted almond bag. But then when I put it next to the leather one, everyone thinks the leather one is nicer. Definitely a more premium look and feel. But does not jump out at you as much as the colored bags. If I could only have one of them, I'd keep the leather one prolly. Long answer, but I hope.it helps out. Also my code got changed to MG15, so now it's 15% off instead of the old 10%. ✌️
Golf is a real grind sometimes...Never seen your videos before, but with some lessons on that flat stick and learning better shot selection you could get your score down a chunk. Keep pushing
Thank you so much for checking out one of my videos. Really appreciate it. Putting definitely has its days with me. When I see a weak spot during editing I'll usually work on it immediately. This video weakness was putter and driver. Gonna spend some time on both when I get a chance ✌️
