If you've ever sewed jersey, lycra french terry, or any knit that is a bit floppy-stretchy, and as soon as you start the seam the machine has sucked the seam allowance and a rats nest of thread in knots under the needle plate... Give this a try. It doesn't so much push fabric through, as let it move naturally, and the rubber nub holds the fabric in place very close to the needle, to prevent the fabric stretching up or down below the needle plate, causing skipped stitches and chaos. The blue thing WILL constantly fall off and get sewn into your seams though. It is a fact of life

Brilliant 👏. I'm a Newby re-upholstering my powerboat. I wondered what that 1# roller thing was. Thanks 😊. 🇬🇧

I have been doing upholstery as well but been too busy getting them completed to film them. I am hoping to start making those videos soon. The "roller thing"? If you mean the one with a roller in the front of it, the kit calls it a quilting foot. I thought it did well on smushy fabrics, like fleece, but I don't really use that one very much. If you check the time stamps in the video with the description below it, I listed the names of each of the feet. Thanks for watching!

@@QueenBee1755 Thanks for your response. The video is a very helpful resource. I bought a walking foot attachment too which appears 'a must' for multiple layers of vinyl. It's an ebay Chinese knock off though at $12. The original Janome attachment is around $75. I'll see how it performs once my V92 thread arrives ... 👌

Why did you buy 1034 D serger, did you look at 1034DX, could you tell me the difference between them, thank you L
@QueenBee1755
@QueenBee1755 2 месяца назад
@Loral-op4tz For me, I need machines that go beyond normal household wear. The fast pace and wide variety of items I work on during the professional sewing work I do can wreak havoc on them. After looking at the 1034DX today, it may be perfectly fine for home use but seemed more cheaply made than my 1034D. I have had my 1034D for almost 20 years now and it's still going. I'm not even sure I remember seeing the 1034DX back then and, at the time, I couldn't afford a commercial serger. Each person's needs are different. It's important to compare the up front costs with how long you think it should last with how it will be used.

hi i love the video you did for the 52 piece presser foot kit, but i'm having a problem identifying which presser foot goes were because my mum took them all out of the box so i was wondering if you could help with this please and again thank you for doing this video it was very informative
@QueenBee1755
@QueenBee1755 4 месяца назад
@minnie87679 If you mean back in the box, I'm not sure I can help with that. What I did with mine is pick out the ones I use the most and put them all in my kit in the same small box together. The ones I don't use very much, or at all, I left in the box they came in, or found an empty spot in there to place them in. That box was packed in the move we made a few years back. Since I haven't needed them for the past several years, I haven't unpacked them yet. You will learn which ones you use the most, for the type sewing you do. It's nice to keep those with your machine at all times, while the less used ones can be stored in a drawer somewhere. Keep things simple and focus on what you like sewing. It helps keep the stress down. Happy sewing!

just please be mindful of people with allergies and clean your project fully of all peanut oil if anyone would come into contact with it... I wonder if say veg oil would work as well>??
@QueenBee1755
@QueenBee1755 5 месяцев назад
@mlr080965 That is good advice. I know some people with very bad allergies to nuts (meet them after making this video). Almost any oil, that doesn't ruin the plexiglass, should work. It's just making a slick surface. I never buy veggie oils so I used what I had.

You are a wonderful seamstress! You explain everything so well and in depth.I want to know if you can use a one step buttonhole maker on four step buttonhole maker?. Thanks you.😅
@QueenBee1755
@QueenBee1755 5 месяцев назад
@estherfrazier3475 Thank you! I have never had a machine that does the 4-step buttonhole. With my older machines, I just marked where the hole needed to be and used a regular presser. I manually entered in what kind of stitch I wanted, basically just changing the length and width of straight and zig-zag stitches, to get what I needed. The first machine I had with an auto buttonhole stitch had a special buttonhole foot and a lever on the machine I pulled down which let the machine know when to change stitch and direction. I was like OH MY GOSH! This is a game changer! LOL. So I'm not sure if the two feet are interchangeable or not. I would think it depended on the style of the foot and the machine. So maybe going from the auto 1 step foot to the manual 4 step machine might work, if it fit, but not the other way since it wouldn't have a lever, or indicator of some sort, for machine it know it's there.

Wonderful video ! Now that I have your videos I finally can use presser feet that before I had no idea how to use ❤️❤️❤️. What size thread do you use in the bobbin ? Thanks so much !
@QueenBee1755
@QueenBee1755 5 месяцев назад
Thank you! I mainly use matching thread in the bobbin but, depending on the project, I do change it up sometimes. On regular stuff, a regular all-purpose thread is usually fine. I have also used clear filament through heavy duty and jean thread. The weight that you can use is determined by the machine and the project.

Your white "plastic" foot is called a Teflon foot (I saw later that someone said it's a nylon foot I wasn't aware they made them in nylon) and is meant to be used on very smooth fabrics like what you use for prom dresses or lingerie. I saw someone else mention using it for leather. I think that and even pleather it would work well on. It won't snag on the fabric and it holds onto it even though it's slippery. Love this video you did a GREAT JOB!!!!

@QueenBee1755 5 месяцев назад

We stumbled across your video's last night and watched them ALL, thank you. The pen you use in this video that washes off can you tell me what they are called please? You have inspired me to do more sewing with the help of my mam, thank you Deby x
@QueenBee1755
@QueenBee1755 5 месяцев назад
@user-we5im2yy3d Thank you! I’m glad they have helped. These are my favorite pens. One end stays until water hits it (I sometimes just use a water spray bottle on it). The other end disappears within a few minutes (depending on the fabric) so it’s for quick needs without needing to follow-up removing it. Using this affiliate link helps me a little but you can also get them at sewing stores like Joann’s. Happy sewing!! amzn.to/3OFS8mq

I have procrastinated a full year replacing a zipper for my father on his only pair of dress slacks, for fear of mucking it up badly. Having butchered the job on a pair of my own pants many years back, despite being a decent sewist otherwise, I have taken zipper jobs to a tailor ever since. Sadly, my small town no longer has anyone doing alterations and mending professionally, so it had to be me. Dad, I should mention, can and does sew things like tarps for boat covers, but this was beyond him. Thank you so much for this video! Not only were the steps easy to follow, but your pants were so nearly identical in every way, down to the color, that my neuro-interesting brain had nothing to snag on and stall out. Now, assuming Dad hasn't been late night noshing on ice cream for the last year, these should look good as new on him. Whew!

Thank you for the information of how to use the feet. I have the same kit. It came with the identification booklet but nothing else. I come from a sewing family. I also sew on a treadle machine when I volunteer at a pioneer village (town seamstress).

@rd5rjs That's cool! I have an old Singer treadle that I have sewn on as well. I have also volunteered to do 1750's living history for over 20 years. My main demo was hand dressing deer hides into leather or spinning on my great wheel. The 'sewing machine' I was allowed to use there was my fingers and a needle LOL. Nice to hear from a kindred spirit!
