Playing card games solo including Marvel Snap, Lord of the Rings LCG, Marvel Champions, Slay the Spire, and more! Playing games, reviewing cards, and making tier lists. Also some variety games like Genshin Impact.
Hi LOTRLCGSOLO, your ranking of the heroes in MC is the best I've seen so far! I've been watching it more often because it's so interesting. Well done! Now a question for you: will you expand your ranking with the heroes that have been added since then? That would be a dream:-) Best regards from the north of Germany.
Thank you! I started yesterday, playing two games, and I was so overwhelmed by the board, trying to figure out the meaning of all the little icons and numbers while making decisions.
Funny enough, when I originally got into LoTR LCG, Lost Realm and Angmar cycle was the "current" cycle for the game, and as a result it was the most available one. So I play the core quests and then go straight into Angmar. Long story short, it took me half a year to beat Battle of Carn Dum. Luckily I am into hardcore game modes and difficult games so it wasn't frustrating, but playing a single quest for well over 60 times and losing all of them is quite a hit or miss 😄 working my way through Khazad Dum afterwards felt like a breeze. I agree with your suggestions.
wait why not give heavy and tired to frodo at 3:52? hirluin will do much better in fortitude tests (4 to 2 with 3 ethir swordsman) and i dont think the text prevents it, the ring is not a condition attachment
playing this with outlands ally spam, i traveled to mount doom at a comfortable 46 threat, failed the hide test on purpose bringing me to 55, then everything to quest just to make sure i clear the locaiton, an absurd amount like 50-ish willpower, ready commit all my heros to the fortitude test that comes when i clear it (outlands spam heros dont have a lot of willpower to begin with, and i got the "attached hero cant commit to fortitude tests" treachery earlier so im one down, like my total fortitude test with the 3 free heros is 11, its a little sketchy), then i reveal the encounter card and its the foul fumes card which reads "When Revealed: Each player makes a Fortitude test. If you fail this test, deal 1 damage to each character you control. Until the end of the round, treat the printed text box of each damaged character as if it were blank (except for Traits)." which would make my all my outlands allies die instantly (the textbox of the one that gives health no longer exists and suddenly everything has 1 hp), which would make me fail the quest that round (and prob the next round too since there was a mordor road in the staging area and i have like 20 allies in play xd), so i split my heros, 5 willpower for the first and 6 for the second, the first one i win by luck, 3 eye icons across 4 cards to 5 willpower, second one also goes good, first i reveal 2 cards with none then the rest give me 2 each and its a tie 6 to 6, and its gg. like this was a humbling experience i was so confident with that full board lmao edit: went back and won it, purposefully waited to go to mount doom until that specific card i found (if its in the discard pile it cant be the new encounter card), had 74 threat with 10 willpower from heros, still a bit sketch but much better odds, ended up winning 10 to 7
yo this was so easy wowww, like it was a bit of a slow start cos i only got a single willpower ally for the longest time, but other than that just completely breezed through it.. i dont think im gonna play with this anymore it feels like a crutch lmao
I did not know that I can put more then 8 progress tokens on the Oathkeepers quest 🙂 So I had to keep Goblin Chieftain in the staging area while having 8 progresses on Oathkeepers and kill Chieftain in two rounds using 2 copies of Gandalf, which I luckily had 😀
I can't believe I never thought about the frequency of bots being deterministic. But since you mentioned it, I went back and looked at my tracked matches this season. Sure enough, in the 70's I was given a bot after 3 humans like clockwork, and now in the 80's I'm very clearly getting one after every 4-5 humans. I've never heard anyone ever mention it, but it definitely doesn't seem as random as I thought. Good luck on your climb- interested in more SuperGiant because I just don't understand the power of the card.
That is really interesting to be able to confirm it with data. I would guess that as you get into the 90's it will be something like 1 bot every 5-7 or possibly 7-9 humans. Thats what it feels like based on past experience.
Thanks for the work here. I have revised core set, which I enjoyed. Ordered Fellowship of the Ring saga - hope that's good. So I am pretty ignorant of all this history!
I am a new player who only has the core set. I really enjoy the card game but I also really enjoy the story element. So far you're sent on a quest to deliver a message to Galadriel & the card game is the journey of the player. Do expansions build off of this?
Yes the storyline continues through all the card pack and expansion cycles with the exception of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings boxes which follow the plot of the books/movies.
I just played the whole Galaxy's Most Wanted Campaign true solo with Groot in Leadership. Had no bigger problems winning. And it was fun, too. So for me Groot is far higher in my List
Great ranking, very detailed and it takes into account something I always do, too: Resource and card drawing abilities! I agree with some comments here regarding Spider-woman, she should be in a higher tier. Unless I misunderstood it, you said her Finesse cards don't work with her hero cards, only Aspect cards, but most of her kit is both a Spider-Woman and an Aspect card. So it is very powerful.
Quicksilver's Double Time won't trigger retaliate as it is not an attack. I don't think this would change the ranking from your perspective, but just wanted to correct it there so people don't start taking retaliate damage when using it.
This was a great list. Easily the best I’ve seen. I’m just curious as to where you’d place the other characters that have come out since this list was made?
This series is the most helpful I've ever seen. I've had MC since launch but have struggled with deck building. I own all but 4 hero packs. I don't have the time or experience to make it fun. You've inspired and helped me beyond any other content creator in this respect. I can't believe you don't have more views. I'll be watching anything you put out.
Nice list, the only thing that sticks out to me is that I would probably switch Modok and Man-Thing's positions, unless you're factoring in Man-Thing's lower token cost as a Series 4, though even then I think Modok places higher imo because Modok is a card that MAKES the Discard deck function. I mean yes, you can play a Discard deck without Modok, that's how people were playing him before he existed, but it's a hella lot more janky and because of that, Discard was never a consistent good deck before Modok. With Modok however, you can reliably run Discard Drac as an infinite capable deck every season. It may not be one of the top decks every season, but it's also never that far off from the top, unlike other archetypes can can fall off (e.g. Patriot). Modok is an archetype defining card, the type of card that if you're a regular Marvel Snap player, you eventually want in your collection even if you're not planning to play Discard in the near future, just because if you ever do decide to play him, you will need him. Man-Thing on the otherhand is way less key. He's not good enough to be a universal 4 drop to fit in a Zabu archetype and while he is good in junk type decks, junk type decks aren't as good and consistent as discard decks, even after Annihilus, which is why imo Modok > Man-Thing.
This is a good strong argument for MODOK being better than Man-Thing, I find nothing to disagree with here. Ill take this into account for the next time I do a tier list(which will be next time there is a meta change).
Blob is going to be a great card! I would be shocked if it ends up being lower than A tier and it may be S tier though testing will be needed to confirm this. The other cards in that spotlight cache, Living Tribunal and Renslayer are nothing to speak of unfortunately. I think most people using a spotlight cache that week will be hoping for Blob and will be sad if they don't get him.
I already have Loki, Werewolf, Ms Marvel, Darkhawk and Jeff. Additionally I have 12 keys and I’m planning to get the High Evo, IronLad and Nebula spotlight weeks, should I spend my 6000 tokens on Alioth or Nico?
As of this moment 12/24/2023, I would consider Alioth a higher priority than Nico. However, I would strongly recommend not buying anything until tomorrow because a patch is coming and there is a decent chance of an Alioth nerf since it is a card that is often complained about. So I recommend waiting for the patch and seeing where the meta lands before making a purchase.
@@lotrlcgsolo5737 I already have Alioth pinned so I will wait to see how things change. Thank you very much for your response, greetings from Colombia.
I don't have that much experience yet with Marvel Champions, but to me, this is BY FAR the best tier ranking that I've watched, just in terms of explanation and detail and understanding the why for each hero, which is important. It's easy to hear someone tier rank, but normally the explanations are very surface-level or perhaps a few sentences here and there. For anyone playing this game solo, this is a must view IMO. So big thanks to the creator! Sub'd!
It's kinda painful seeing you use Pepper as one resource rather than trying to use doubles to increase her efficiency, says the accountant in me. I think it's more fun for me watching these than playing them like it's 2019 all over! I dislike Ironman who goes from living on a knife edge to trivialising everything if he survives but I did crutch on Justice with anyone a bit weak on thwarting for a long time. (also I assume it's rather too late to point out little mistakes as I a sure you will have corrected them by now & anyway some inevitably creep in.
That's a really interesting tier list. It's so narrowly focused and remote from my personal interests that it's very informative. I do tend to think of heroes in their best deck as being a good power level marker, but someone might also highly rate heroes who can beat 85% of the content in a range of desks if they liked the deckbuilding or just variety. I have found porker a bit dull against the regular villains but it's fun to be able to bully Ronan and Venom Goblin, I did have great difficulty trying to beat Sabretooth with him though due to the gimmick of that scenario. edit: also Rocket can be very bursty with Repurpose, in terms of damage per turn if not per card , so still weak to retaliate but good at the gameplan of not letting villains sit in stage 3.
This quest have 5.8 community difficulty but took more than 10 tries with differents decks in solo. So hard and yet dont know how beat wothour powers deck/cards
You were drawing an encounter card at the end of the player phase due to your decking out, but you don’t reveal it until the villain phase when encounter cards are revealed. It was a little out of order. 15:38 you did this also with the whole shadows of the past thing earlier. 32:23 you did futurist in hero mode… 34:44 also you can use pepper to use the double in your discard to play that second punch making it even more efficient. Pepper is pretty sweet!
Have you tried house ruling a floor of 5 handsize on those heroes with less than 5 handsize? If, as you say, it wouldn't break the game and there really is no reason beside thematic purposes, I may just do that when I take a crack at this in true solo. Great video and really enjoyed watching this as I try to get my newborn to sleep in the middle of the night 😂
Congrats on the new baby! I have tested in true solo and in true solo it is definitely not game-breaking. How it might affect multiplayer balance I can't say.
This is 100% the best tier list I have seen for Marvel Champions. I completely agree with your criteria of a hero’s ability to beat all the villains with the best possible deck in expert mode (S+ tier reserved for consistently beating Ronan, Venom Goblin, Magneto). Your evaluations with resource generation, burst damage, etc is in line with my own and I really appreciate this list with well thought out explanations based on your own experiences. And you aren’t afraid to break away from common perceptions like “Dr. Strange is #1 and he breaks the game so ffg shouldn’t have ever made him.” As a Spidey fan, I love seeing him in S- tier compared to B tier as he is in most other tier lists. But I think he should be even higher, possibly S+ tier based on the criteria you set. Spidey can defeat expert Ronan (75% win rate) and expert Magneto (100% win rate across 5 games). I have full gameplay videos on my channel! I don’t have Sinister Motives so have yet to try Venom Goblin. Peter vs. Ronan: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g-0g9wNCJl4.htmlsi=_Rs3MY4aPNbHh5zb Peter vs. Magneto: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Up2pipxBxZo.htmlsi=fU8rvtPus9LTWP4y Also, I’d love to see your thoughts on the villains. Any plans to make a hardest villains on expert mode tier list?
Thank you so much! Thank you for the video links, I will check them out and I would love to move Spidery up to the S+ tier as a result, I am always happy to discover a hero is better than I thought.
