Rilke, being a dexterous poetry stylist, uses syntax to create a feeling of taudness and expectancy: something is "creeping closer to the window". This seen "under the uncertain sunlight", adds a touch of melancholy and some reflective inward looking, along with fears and images of a long gone childhood.(Rilke himself, might have been fearful of tempestuous weather ,as a child, - I know, I was too!)
The futile quest for Rilke's Beloved is reminiscent of Rumi's corresponding search for his own elusive Beloved. Both have been longing for them and both have come to terms with the fact that they will never find them!
Another little diamond...So simple words and yet, they convey meanings and feelings so heartfelt...so deep, like the water they would've wet their feet, had it been water...
Rilke was born in 1875 and died in 1926.A lyric poet and prose writer of German origin. His images, laden with deep, ambiguous feelings/meanings, are focused on the difficulty of the 20th century society, during an era of mistrust, loneliness and deep anxiety. One of the "dark" poets of his generation... As for the person reciting the poem...the melancholy in his voice becomes the "atmosphere" of the poem... Kudos!
I have memorized this, and can recite it in nine seconds. The adults don't care but the kids enjoy it. It helps them learn if you make a game out of reciting poetry.
My English , there is still room to improvement . I notice it especially with poems like this one . But I can sense what I can´t translate . YES , it was a pleasure to be here again .
Thanks man! I was thinking, adding sounds effect, music or something, would make the poem much better. Just a thought! All your efforts are appreciated
