All kinds of everything here. Most common videos uploaded are of train journeys, places in Ireland, churches, road journeys. All videos taken as a hobby and pastime and done mainly in an amateur way.
My music video which includes your RU-vid footage has now been uploaded. My sincere thanks for letting me use your work. The title of the video is 'Wexford heart & home'.
Thanks for the tour. My great great grand mother Anne Shirley, was from Leighlinbridge. She married Michael Lacey Cahill. In 1817 they left Ireland with their 6 children and shipped out to Quebec, Canada on the brig Maria. Michael was entitled to a military grant of land, and they started their life in Canada trying to clear Laurential Shield forest near Perth, Ontario -- the grant was 25 acres for a private in the British 19th dragoons. Eventually (1835) they settled on Ile du Grand Calumet in the Ottawa river 60 miles up river from Ottawa. The area was surveyed, and in1848 the widow Anne Shirley Cahill gained title to 200 acres of land there. Her brother and some of her adult children also settled there. My Dad's elder brothers sold the family farm in 1965. In 2016 my brother Tom and I visited Leighlinbridge -- a beautiful village, enjoyed it very much.
Thanks Fr.Damian. My local church has the Cork flags up at the entrance though no bunting in front of the altar unlike the churches in Kilfinane and Bruff back when Limertick were winning All Irelands. Please God Cork will be successful tomorrow in ending a 19 year wait for the Liam McCarthy Cup
I remember going here at night, me and my little cousin went in and out because we were scared and my auntie stayed in with my sister and other two cousins it was fun playing tag and piggybag riding while me and my cousin waited outside for my aunty
I think we must give credit to the old CIÉ. They kept as many railway lines opened as possible, through some very difficult times. Hopefully these lines are now paying dividends.
Living in Manchester U.K. 23 years and being originally from Rural Ireland (Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath) myself, I’m most impressed by the high quality of Irish Rail’s trains in comparison to the U.K. - I eagerly look forward to the extension of the M3 Parkway line to Navan - in terms of rail expansion, as opposed to SailRail via Holyhead on TfW or Avanti Trains Wales, aside from a LUAS trams link from Dublin Port into Dublin City Centre, I also look forward to the high speed rail tunnel under the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin - I personally dislike Bus Éireann’s and National Express Eurolines coaches - it is also very clear that the Irish government and Irish Rail are learning the lessons of the failure of the U.K.’s privatisation of the railways and most recently the failure of HS2
This website unfortunately tends to show graves in the cemetery next to St. Joseph's Church in Rathmore and I can't find any records for Shrone Cemetery. I was last in Shrone when I took this video in December 2021. I do know that some cemeteries now are erecting sitemaps showing where graves are located and some of those sitemaps are available to view online
