I am trying to make a hudge effort to bring more attention to the iowa interstate railroad while its still around, one day I will work for them and hopefully get alot of good years out of it,so please join me in my experience while I railfan all over the state of Illinois going to museums and visiting popular railfaning locations
The cars were actually pre- blocked but the South Shore coil car was traveling with some LMIC flatcars going back to Indiana. The only thing missing was the group of OFOX covered hoppers. Two TZPR gondolas which stands for the Tazewell & Peoria Railroad with contents and Destination Unknown. Usually you only see their flat cars what's equipment from Caterpillar Still the sound of a few crickets so we haven't hit the heavy jacket season yet
@@illinoisman601 those cars used to fool me and just to the right of GN it is RR for a total GNRR which is Georgia Northeastern Railroad. Every now and then I'll see one of their box cars hauling paper. I think someone did that intentionally picking that shade of blue and a guy who shoots CSX in Massachusetts get them SB loaded with Lumber from Maine or New Brunswick!
That southern pacific looked nice at the end of the train. The train ride I think is on Saturday if I’m correct and I heard the little honk he gave you
The ROCK did have some mixed trains into the 1960s but certainly nothing that luxurious. Looking real sharp in that paint scheme. I dread to ask what the freight bill is for moving it from Blue Island to Amtrak. A weird consist with a single well car then the corn group. Maybe somebody got some paper or cardboard in the 2 GTW\CN boxcars. The Lumber cars in that faded red ate ONT Ontarilo Northland and DWC Duluth Winnipeg &Pacific cars. It looks like all the steel today was off the South Shore. And that first car was brand new it also has their new trademark comments. 2 potash. Today it was 2 smaller TILX covered Hoppers as buffers and 100 cars of ethanol. Certainly worth being Trackside
Sunday put the container traffic back on and the normal Commodities all appeared in regular numbers except no Lumber cars. The ethanol all in baby groups 9\9\11\7. Thanks for the layout update
Haven't seen the 500 in a while and I really couldn't believe the train was just the mostly empty Wells an empty Plastics car the 80 Ethanol cars and a blue buffer
Always possible to have a horn in the valley they don't have a reason unless mow is working on the defect or there's somone or something their honking, place like that I'd imagine some animals get a little to close
Of couse thanks for tuning in,I enjoy taking a few relaxing hours to watch some trains,oh yeah the iais always has great looks engines, the secret is paint them mostly black, hides dirt better👉👉
The 513 sure does look sharp in that paint and certainly has good detailing. You won't have to worry about weathering it as they do keep the unit nice and clean on IAIS. I certainly hope it does not fall off the narrow road bed as it is a ways down to the floor. The 2 NYC boxcars are flashy and they did exist but got repainted early when they exited the LCL business in the mid-1960s. A very worthy purchase
Oh yeah iowa is always clean, not to worry to much mr paul I installed a temporary saftey netting under the layout so if anything falls in it won't hit concrete but if an engine falls outside instead of inside there won't be anything to stop it but we are working on some temporary solutions
It all depends how hard they're working as back in the day when The Rock Island ran U25\28\30B they had a pretty sharp rapping sound also and you got some really good Echoes through Starved Rock State Park. So today it was indeed just some cornstarch add some plastic empties and some grain and the rest was all ethanol not even a single car of corn oil or syrup. I was expecting to see the other rotary coal car maybe that guy in Ohio will catch this one on CSX again. Full Harvest Moon TUE
Alright 516 and 511 I really like that intro with that 513 you got a little horn after it got over the crossing and it was cool to see the door open on the box cars
Yes trying out something new for the intro, made from train sim world 4,the 513 is actually my personal creation, was a challenge recreating it in the game😅
Tonight was a good mix-up night but still in a pre Block Level. The only freight that was low was feed in the old OFOX cars. Lots of steel cars today. Ethanol was like 23+12+17. Nice new cornstarch car in service. Those LRS boxcars show up on CSX through Ohio and I see them on tapes in Northern Massachusetts and upper New York. Probably some specialty paper and IAIS lists a warehouse firm near Cedar Rapids as getting boxcars
Well as the dispatcher was told 7 empties in 83 loads and no other Freight to describe and today utilizing the GACX Airslides as buffers. Tonight the rails on that first curve lit up in an exceptionally nice sequence. A general light on all, then the rail pieces and followed by the individual joint bars and spikes. It was surprising that there was no other Freight especially when the consist was under 100 cars. That's what happens when you look at a video at 4:00 a.m. didn't even think about the 702 so for this train to keep moving at a decent speed that's about the right car count. With that profound thought back to bed
I think there's a partial pre blocking to this. Empty Lumber cars but in two different places. Plenty of cornstarch grain and feed but just one lonely box car. 4 coil cars in the first group including two of the South Chicago & Indiana Harbor. It also seems like some fresh plastic pellet hoppers may have come out of storage. Hopefully the new batch of IAIS covered hoppers is for increased business rather than an old group coming off lease
@AJmx2702001 oh yeah took almost a hour to get in,faster getting out that's for sure, worth it though, after 3 hours of being there leaving the limes were just as long, definitely a big event
You can't make a train anymore straightforward than that. Ozinga Stone cars plus some wells with containers and 96 cars of ethanolwith the 2 blue KLRX air slide covered hoppers as buffers. At the end of the month Sunset will be at 6:30 yipes!
A good full size load tonight though there was no steel or Lumber. Also a bit low on cornstarch but that was the last car. Looked like only two batches of ethanol a bit over 30 cars. Mike Nr8b Radio had a video of a. CSX empty ethanol train WB at Berea OH within the last week and unbelievably the buffer cars were those TILX aluminum rotary dumper cool cars with the green ends!
Nice Shiny units today. Plenty of cornstarch. Grain and feed certainly up there as it looked like every OFOX car was in use. Only 20 or 25 ethanol. It lookéd like the CSX gon had baled scrap. Tonight's odd car was the brown coil car. CRWO referred to as Crow is a switching operation inside the Cliffs steel mill in Cleveland
I don’t know why but I always have loved the 505 engine I just really like the horn on it for some reason but we had a nice pretty sunset in the background
You certainly had a beautiful sunset we were still stuck in the clouds but goodbye heat and humidity. It pretty much turned out the way I expected.with maybe two cuts of ethanol for 20 cars total. Pretty much made up for the two previous nights with plenty of Grain and Feed and all the other usual commodities and there were also six gondolas which most likely had taken scrap out to that Mill And are coming back empty. One empty plastic pellet car brought up the rear. We'll see if they cancel a night due to the holiday
It's kind of fun to see an old set again and looking at the equipment has the look of late 1960s. The SD24 what's popular with the Q and also the Santa Fe had a huge Fleet but they had them rebuilt and their fleet was low nose. The Burlington and later BN ran them quite a bit out of Galesburg down into Illinois coal country and the Terminus at Paducah. I came across one at a grain elevator in Indiana and it was fun to watch the two on the Fox River Valley and leader Wisconsin Central. One is at Union the other might be at Green Bay. For a while they were used to break apart trains at North Fond du Lac and were matched with an SW1500 and I swear they could throw smoke 50 ft up in the air! Legit GN but short-lived only 2 years till merger. The B&O Hopper with that lettering is more 1940s\50s but that wooden caboose was typical of what the Burlington ran on Branch lines for decades and BN into the mid-70s The CP car did exist but I never saw one in America. It's labeled climate controlled and it could either be heated or refrigerated. Glad to see that it did hold up after all those years. What do you need for your area are some of the old Brown Burlington boxcars with the script Everywhere West and some of the old covered Hoppers from the 1940s that they used for hauling sand and cement
One can tell the Sun is setting lower now but the angle today showed the kicking dust back at the switch. The two rare units back to back in two nights which is pretty nice. Some corn oil and a small cut of ethanol up front. Pretty low on grain add cornstarch but I think it was 6: or 7 boxcars. Then the air slide buffer and 85 cars of ethanol. Tomorrow may be a complete opposite in terms of the freight. I don't know if you have checked out a video Live Trains which has a camera at Blue Island and several times IAIS can be seen pushing their train under their track. I'd love to see how they make the interchange
Really simplistic on this one. Looks like about 10 cars of corn oil and it was really strange to see the two sand or cement cars as buffers on the 98 cars of ethanol
Nice selection of freight cars with the exception of one. I do not recall Mopac having that newer design gondola as they bought several thousand which had waffle designs in the panel not smooth. The other cars truly exist or have since been retired from regular service. I used to see the St Regis car come through on the Milwaukee Road from Idaho. Weyerhaeuser had a distribution center here on the CNW so they were regular fixtures and those loaded in Washington State where their HQ should still be. The side door was divided into three pieces and all three were movable you just had to push them to whatever angle you wanted them at Some Eastern museums have them as donations from the Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley RR and up in the Twin Cities Progressive rail has a few for maintenance of way duty that were former Minneapolis Northfield and Southern. Also the mini hi Cube CB&Q boxcar was somewhat known for paper and cardboard rolls but the majority of the ones built in the late sixties we're actually for hauling appliances washers dryers ovens and dishwashers and a big loading point was Louisville KY even Milwaukee had some at Hotpoint the rest are pretty self-explanatory glad you got a good deal on them
