Very nice system and I think the atc 50's would work really well with it. They are a considerably better speaker than the 40's and imo is where the magic starts with atc.
Nice speaker but the choice of music is not ideal for a review. There is almost on variation of a (flat) vocal until the 3:45 timestamp. This thing is expensive and most people want to hear its capabilities before purchase. There a quite a few speakers that do the "80%" performance of this speaker for a third of the price. The curious want to know what the final 20% performance is like. But, totally appreciate the effort to put this our there - something better than nothing I guess. When ready I am going to take the "test" music to a dealer and get the answers. Thanks!
Lowther's a loaded horn speaker and it's totally different from ATC which's a closed cabinet one. Sound from ATC is tight, rich and smooth while lowther sound is big , open and live. Lowther's not a well-rounded one for all kind of songs but it's Lowther. Instrument positioning depends on how you place the speakers. I prefer to pull the speakers away from the front wall and keep them not too far apart from one another that always gets better focus and image.
Good reference material would be those with multiple instruments playing progressively louder going into a crescendo finale e.g. Pat Metheny Group's Minuano. To unravel what each instrument is doing and separate them in space is the ultimate experience in audio.
I have matched this MB2 SE with Dan M400 400W, Electrocompaniet AW250R 250W, Jeffrowland 725 330W and Jeffrowland 925 430W. The more power you have, the better sound you get especially the deep and attacking bass.
Great system, great sound, congrats and thanks for sharing. Do you happen to know if there's too much difference in sound PMC MB2 vs the IB2 SE (same but with the 10" instead of 12")? Also, have you had the chance to hear ATC SCM100 or 150, and if so, what is your take vs your PMC? Thanks.
I've never listened to IB2 SE so so I can't compare both two. If I got lucky, I'd get Atc scm100 to compare to Scm50 and Pmc mb2 se next couple months. I can tell you the diffrences then.
@@dtorsuephakd3772 Thanks. I have the IB2 SE and the SCM150. In my room, both are very similar, but ATC is more detailed on top, PMC is softer on those high freqs. Both passive, powered with Pass XA60.8's.
@@carlosmier4380If compared MB2 SE to SCM50, I feel the opposite. MB2 SE has more high frequency resolution than SCM50 and gets deeper but softer bass than SCM50. SCM50 is more outstanding on midrange. These two speakers are totally different from one another.
It's funny...at first listen, the Neats sound good, and the others seem more subdued. Then, when you give it a second go, you realize that with each subsequent speaker, the sound field becomes more complete. It's a tough call between the ATCs and the PMCs, though... the PMCs definitely sound bigger... but are they better? I find the ATCs to be missing something... In fact, contrary to popular opinion, I often find ATC to be missing something. I like all three, but the Neats are probably the ones that are most easily lived-with.
