I go to Torino often since I’m a season ticket holder for Juventus. Definitely an underrated city and prefer to keep it that way. I’m buying property there soon since I’ll be retired soon so hopefully it don’t become trendy yet since houses are still cheap there.

Returned today at 5am from the trip to Turin. I have so much on my mind, I feel I can write an entire book about how magnificent this city is. The food, people, museums, all of Italy's culture is packed in one city. It was my first flight ever, and it was truly impactful to see giant mountains from above. The first shock when I landed there, was the heat, it was one of the hottest week of my life. I was used to 24-28C, but 38c was really far beyond that. Next thing was the food, spent so much money just to try new things, and it was really worth it, mostly bought from Mercato and In's. My favorite thing was Prosciutto pizza from 110 &Pizza, I work at restaurant and make pizzas too, for 10 months now, but pizzas there were the real deal, truly a thing you can call PIZZA. Also went to Cinema and Egypt museums. Egypt museum was a bit terrifying when I saw so many mummies, but experience was amazing, so many exhibits from so many different places. Cinema museum was my favorite, as a film and cinema enthusiast there were so many cool things to see and experience. Also I and my brother decided to travel to Susa (about one hour by train from Turin), one of the best decisions ever. The mountains were so amazing there. You could even see snow and clouds on top of the mountains which are between France and Italy, such an amazing sight to see. Also in Susa there is Roman Amphitheater, Arch of Augustus, (which was cool to see because my name is Augustus) and Park of Augustus, it was so peaceful there, perfect stop to take a break. I am really glad my first flight was to Turin, I will never forget this city.

Can you take a water taxi from where the val paretto leaves off to get to a hotel or Airbnb? What's an average cost for that
@HiddenItalyTravel
@HiddenItalyTravel 13 дней назад
I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean you would take the Alilaguna vaporetto to the main island and then the water taxi from there to your hotel because the vaporetto doesn't get you close enough? I need more information to properly answer, but in general, it costs roughly 60 to 80 euro for a water taxi when you travel within Venice itself on a water taxi.
@janicegildea8866

That's a rough number. It depends on where your hotel is. Is your hotel in the lagoon or on the island itself?

Thanks for subscribing! My favorite town in the area of Venice is Bassano del Grappa. It's very charming with an old wooden covered bridge where people congregate and drink a local cocktail called the Mezzo e Mezzo. There is a free grappa museum which is interesting plus a few other museums to check out. The food is good, it's inexpensive, there are few tourists there, and it's easily reached by train from Venice. Hope that helps! Cheers.

I lived in Turin and I absolutely agree with everything you said. On top of the cultural and historical aspect, is remarkable the night life with a number of clubs, discos and bars where you can experience the "apericena" (the best expression of aperitif and dinner together). Have a look at the Reggia di Venaria just a few minutes outside the city. It deserves a visit!

Very interesting El Beccherie - wow impressive, so you see that the other Tiramisu are just copies to find a way around the original, which seemingly has some secrets and not such easy to copy. Unfortunately Tiramisu or Panna cotta you find everywhere pushing other worthwhile Italians dolce into oblivion, like Zuppa Inglese.

Why didn't you include the Traghetto as a cheap alternative?
@HiddenItalyTravel
@HiddenItalyTravel Месяц назад
Basically because locals are complaining about tourists taking joyrides on them. Many need them to get to work and end up waiting in line to take one. Also, as fun as the experience is, it isn't the same as taking a gondola ride through the quiet and romantic canals. However, maybe some people will read this and decide to see what the traghetto is all about. Anyway, thanks for watching and the comment!

@@HiddenItalyTravel Interesting insight. Venice seems to be struggling with the tourism monster, one they can't live with or without. Maybe they need locals only crossings similar to the Vapporetto access lanes. The city access certainly needs to more than 5 Euros if it's going to have any impact on reducing the day visitor numbers. We have 5 days there next week!

@@cakebabyman5090 Yes, it's one of those can't live with them can't live without them scenarios. It's still a great city to visit. Make sure you circle back and let me know how your trip went. 5 days is more than most people spend there so I'm curious to hear about your experience.

I think a shortl crossing in a Traghetto is probably the best local experience one could have since... this is how the locals do it. by those standards looks like overpriced gondola rides may fall into "tourist traps" category. Thank you for asking the question cakebabyman!
