Hello all! My name is Daniela (most people call me Dan), and I am a twenty-something living and working in Washington D.C. I post content about my experiences in D.C., reflections on young adult life, and the occasional travel video. My sister and I used to run a very successful YT channel called “Our Hidden Mermaid Life”, so I am excited to be returning to this platform almost 10 years later!
Suggestion, I'd put the television and entertainment piece, on wall where entry door is. Sofa would be facing the tv. Bed can be moved closer to where the closet area is. This way, there is a better flow with kitchen and living area. Try it, just to see. However your apartment is very nice.😊
Dear Daniela, Thanks for sharing these intimate thoughts with us! How are you feeling these days compared to when you made the video? You're a beautiful person, I wish we could talk about all those things in person:(
I found your vlog looking for info on the DC half-marathon. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with that but I still binge watched your videos. If you're still in DC for the half and see a guy running by on top of a dinosaur, please say hi to a fan!
Oh, and sorry to hear about how long your runs have been (because I watched the video where you said if you're stressed the mileage goes up ;). I hope the beer was everything you dreamed it would be. I run by a brewery and always think how cool it'd be to stop there for a drink. But I'm also mostly sober and the fear of dehydration stops me.
Fellow 20-something DC resident here! I just discovered your channel, and wanted to say thanks for sharing <3 I can definitely relate to feeling stuck in DC when everyone seems to have their lives together… hopefully we can all start to feel a little unstuck soon :)
It’s perfectly natural to feel this way sometimes ❤ I’ve been really depressed about things lately, and keep getting insomnia over my job (in DC). My advice is to keep doing what you love/enjoy when you can, and seek out a doctor when necessary. I finally had to do that this week, in order to sleep through the night. Hope you are able to get out of the rut soon ❤
What a wonderful spacious studio! I giggled a bit at you saying struggling not having a dishwasher. I've never used a dishwasher even when I had them in spaces i lived. I could never use enough dishes to fill it up lol. Great video:)
Hi Daniela! Loved your video, currently I’m looking for an apartment in DC as I’m moving to do my master in August, do you have any recommendation in te apartment hunting? Or anyone who is assuming the contract? My budget is around 1.700
Hi Catalina! I’d recommend using the Trulia app, filtering by price and then using the “Map” view. That will show you what is available and where. I’d recommend living in Logan Circle, DuPont Circle, Shaw, or Kalorama. NoMa and Navy Yard have some cheaper apartment options but are both actively gentrifying neighborhoods so they have a bit of a different feel to them. Chinatown area can feel a bit unsafe these days unfortunately. For that budget, you can get a very nice two bedroom if you want a roommate :)
I loved your video! We need more content like this! It's very real! p.s I used to watch "Our Hidden Mermaid Secret" as a kid and I LOVED it so sorry it had to end, but glad you guys made a decision that guaranteed yall's safety! Glad to see your doing well also! Take care!! oh and it's crazy to find out your located in D.C I come up all the time and I literally live only an hour south! So cool!
The view from the entrance is magical! I love the bench and desk in front of the window :) And I noticed your espresso machine, I was wondering if you have any recommendations for specialty coffee spots in DC. I'm visiting this week and so far I've liked The Coffee Bar. Thanks, have a nice day :)
Hi there! Thank you for your kind words! I also love The Coffee Bar. For non-chain coffee shops, I am a fan of Emissary on P st, Wine & Butter in Capitol Hill, Baked & Wired in Georgetown, and ala in DuPont! As far as most consistently good espresso goes, I have to say Compass or Blank Street take the cake for me!
Thanks for the tour, very nice apartment. We are also moving into a studio and curious as to where you got your room divider. All the best on your upcoming move.
