Thank you for this video. I was so afraid to try the acrylic. I did all these tests and then tried them on the glitter. I still can't get the glitter to work. Have you tested that yet?
No. I don’t really use glitter in my business so have not purchased any glitter acrylic. Hopefully you can find something that works. However I have seen info saying if you mostly want to do acrylic you need a different type of laser.
I have had my S1 xtool for two weeks, and it all of a sudden lost it's laser beam. I googled and googled to find the problem, and finally came upon your video! It's the best one I've seen for cleaning. I was set to return the cutter because the manufacturer thought maybe it was a power problem, and there was no way i was going to start tearing apart the mother board to check it out. But your video showed me now to take everything apart on the laser module to clean it, so i did, and realized the protective lens was damaged. I put in the replacement and all is working! Thank you sooooooo much for your video!!
Quick question....I noticed your using the older version of XCS....I just purchased my S1 20 and I had to download the new version. Do you like the old version better?
I started with the version I have now. And I am weird about updates and things changing everything I have setup so I keep pushing back the update. I need to go ahead and do it though and hope for the best lol. Sometimes updates cause issues with format changes and having to get use to a whole new layout and I haven’t been ready to take on that potential task yet.
Thank you! I just got my xtool machine in the mail and I’m in need of tutorials and guidance on what materials and things I need to do or can do with this machine. I’m excited.
There are different things to try like rubbing alcohol, sanding, and using masking tape. However, trying out different settings to not have this occur would be best.
Nice. I wasn’t sure about acrylic at first but just said I would buy a pack of different colors just to see. Turned out great. Hopefully I can play around with the settings to get at least one shade of blue to work. May have to try the thinner acrylic for that though.
So I understand that you have to align your crosshairs, but I’m confused about how do you set your marking for the jig? I aligned my crosshairs on my targets but when I set my markings and then frame, it’s not framing to the where it’s supposed to frame..
When you make the jig and add your target to where you need to place your crosshairs to line up in xcs you just add your design(s). You don’t need to mark it since it knows where to place your design if you align it in your jig slots. Marking allows you to determine the area you want to design on your material. So if you don’t want to use a jig you can for example place several coasters randomly on your honeycomb and mark each and batch that way. It will frame the area that has design(s). Let me know if that answers your question.
When using the rotary setting it engraves mirror image to what you see on screen. I wasted a tumbler is how I found out. If you use the Chuck setting it engraved exactly how you see it on screen in xcs.
This helped me so much! I tried engraving on a 40oz Ozark Trail and the laser holder thing kept hitting the handle pieces. It luckily still came out okay, but I couldn't lift the bottom completely level because of that, so it was a tad darker than the top of the cup. I had no idea I could take the tray out. I can't wait to give this another shot with another 40oz. Thank you for this video!
Glad you something from my video. I haven’t had the chance to try the tumbler again to make sure the engraving is more even. But when I do I will post that one. Take care!
Thank you for sharing. It is really nice to see how it looked in mockups vs how it looks in real life and how it washes. Also these are cute designs :).
It depends if you use the rotary setting or Chuck. I found with the Chuck setting the engraving did not need adjustment it engraved exactly how it looked in xcs.
Would it be possible to friction fit the parts together like with wood? Or does acrylic get too smooth when cut? I know you would at least have to adjust for the kerf to get a clean friction fit.
Thank you for the great content Felicia. I’ve just bought the xTool S2 and I was feeling out of my element until I found your great tutorial. Keep up the great work!
