I have been part of the wrestling/grappling/Brazilian jiu jitsu communities for over 25 years. Some of my accomplishments include: 2 x NJCAA Academic All-American Former Mid-Atlantic Regional Champion In addition, I earned a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in March of 2016 from Vamos Jiu Jitsu.
I feel like if i were to have an overhook it will be really difficult to gain the space for my top scissor sweep leg to enter since his underhook owns the inside real estate on the position.
@@JoeSciolido u think that i just don't use the sciccor sweep from the overhook because there is not many back up options and go for a overhook flower sweep
I taught this to my wrestlers. One of them executed beautifully in a match and got the pin. The next day he told me his dad was mad at him for using that move. I didn't understand why and I still don't.
@JoeScioli interesting. I hear coaches talk about "bad" moves and such. But I see those "bad" moves performed at high levels. I don't really think of any move as bad. They all have there place and it's dependent on not just the wrestler performing them but also the opponent they're facing.
I use the phrase “for safety purposes” three times throughout the demonstration- twice before i even execute it the first time. If people are reckless with their approach after this it’s on them. As always, preform under the safety of trained professionals.
Hi, I saw your hernia video and had a question. I’m asking on this video because I thought you’d see it faster. Anyway, I’ll probably be having surgery for my inguinal hernia soon. Got ultrasound the other day. Is judo training and competition still on the table? Doctor says wait a month after surgery and go back to training but I just wanted to know from someone who’s been through it personally.
You could still train at an easy paceor as we call it in bjj “flow roll.” Dont val salva. And dont use explosive movements. As far as competing, id wait. You will recover fast. Report back!
Yes. Run the left over pieces under the foam or rubber material piece that makes the cover of the equipment. Keep it running in the same direction as the loop through that tightens it.
It’s still just a wrestlers Guillotine. It’s a catch wrestling move. Like a lot of things it just got toned down as rules changed and catch morphed into collegiate style wrestling.
Nomenclature is irrelevant. In American collegiate style wrestling we know it as a guillotine. In the submission grappling culture it’s known as a few things- twister being one of them. The difference is rule set application. Any cervical neck crank will be whistled dead and restarted in American collegiate style. Submission grappling variations are acceptable since neck cranks (by and large) are accepted.
@JoeScioli yeah, damn Eddie bravo for learning a sub thats been used in catch for 100+ years and trying to coin it as his own. 🤣🤣 I'm just fucking around.
From a conceptual point of view, the golf swing is strong; in reality, against good wrestlers and bjj/judo guys, bad decision. I love it and everyone in combat needs to know this; but also know the classic single, tight, correct grips allows you to run the pipe or transition and chain takedowns. Good demonstration, thank you.
Jesus Christ saved my life he can save yours to. No body is perfect we all have sinned fallen short of the glory of God, except Jesus Christ. So he was the perfect sacrifice for the world and he became that sacrifice. So that we can be perfect in God’s eyes all we need to do is. Repent from our sinful wicked ways and surrender our life’s to him. Jesus Christ. Repent meaning acknowledge and forsake your sins. Know you have sinned and know you are not good in God’s eyes. (Until you accept his gift of salvation. You will be seen perfect in his eyes because Jesus Christ paid the price.)Forsake meaning do not sin. (You may stumble but just rely on the Lord he’s got you in Jesus name.) We have to be clean and filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said we must be born again of the spirit to enter The Kingdom of Heaven. (John 3:3) ! God bless you all. I love you all may you all find Jesus Christ as your Lord Savior . God bless brothas and sisters ❤❤! Thank God ❤️❤😊❤😊
Nice, Controll is key and king. I find it interesting, that all around the world, people develope this bodylock based grappling system. Attacking both arms from top is just the most logical way of.
@@JoeScioli As a taller athlete I really like to lunge/shoot deep hip to hip, so I have better leverage and the secondary threat of lifting my oponent "clasic greco roman" or "mongolian" lift style. And I love drilling, keeping a bodylock and just go threw all bends and lift variations. Like standing bodylock passes, just I keep my opponent in the air, trains grip, back and balance.
I have big guys in BJJ who like to do this. They built a whole game off it. It’s awkward to pull full or half guard and due to weight they usually win take down if you go head to head. Give this a try.
With all due respect, that is nowhere near enough time to heal. I’d do 3 weeks minimum. As eager as you might be to train, it’s not worth ruining your artwork.
Maybe the legislators and judges should be required to carry out law enforcement duties a few times a year, lest they forget how cops aren’t superheroes who are invincible. Smh.
@@JoeScioli city council that make these woke laws should do ride alongs and go to police defense tactics and attempt to arrest a resisting subject, and god forbid they touch the neck.

Thank you! Ordered it for my son and was trying to figure it out for the last few days I would look at it and go okay we can do that tomorrow. This was perfect! Thanks!
I remember a young man in Ft. Benning, Georgia in January 2002. Was a great friend for the short time I knew him. I wondered often what happened to him ver the years…. Very pleased to see he has found his calling and what a motivating story to share. God bless you Joe Scioli. An old army buddy
Isn't grabbing the elbow setting yourself up for a huge head & arm/headlock throw when he re-grips your elbow and comes over the top of your underhook? That's the standard counter if you have the 2-on-1 and he grabs elbow where I'm from.
If hes fast enough to get his hip in front thats a strong threat. If hes not i have this set of moves. Also if he goes for the head and arm throw i can restep out front and counter his throw with a throw of my own. I have this under my headlock defense series on my channel. Cheers.
