is there a reason this one particular piece/song from the OST album is not on spotify or itunes/AM!! I am sick of seeing all of my favourite OSTs getting pulled from these streaming services.. The only "The Face of Pan" I can find is another recorded and extended version on a different John WIlliams compilation album but it's not nearly as beautiful/heartbreaking and emotional as this version
“Grant me, dear Lord, blue eyes. Grant me, dear Lord, wings of a falcon To fly over the white Danube river To find a boy who is match for me. God heard her prayer. He gave her blue eyes And wings of a falcon. When God granted her wings of a falcon She found a boy who was match for her. Dear Lord
4 years ago, I travelled the Japanese countryside in a campervan with my partner. It was a very beautiful time. Hearing this and seeing the scenes of Taeko doing the same never fails to strike a very deep chord in me and takes me back in a way even my memory struggles to do. I doubt the countryside ever looked as awe inspiring as it does in Only Yesterday, but for the time being, these sounds and images remind me that it MAY have been. RIP Takahata.
I am Bulgarian and grew up with that song. My mom was singing it while cleaning the house and as a lullaby for us kids. I soooo love it. There are many other versions of it, but this one is definitely the purest and the best. Thanks for posting it! 🥰
Watched this movie for the first time with my Bulgarian GF without knowing the movie featured traditional music from her home country lead to a surprising watching experience
