I know that in 1984, everybody came to see Peter when they went to see a Chicago concert. Then Robert Lamm sings his Saturday in the Park song, lol. It seemed outdated then. We wnted to hear songs from 16 anf 17.

Does anybody know what happened behind the scene that over and over good musicians left the band? I remember the guitar player Chris Pinnock in the early 1980th. Pretty good musician. Groovy. Funky. Also Dawayne who came later on. Having Bill Champlin was a big deal and unfortunately he also left the group. Last night it was the very first time that the Canadian singer convinced me. Peter Cetera of course made a big mistake from my points of view but I respect his decesion. Not good for the band. Not good for him. But Chicago survived. And they're still rocking!

I know "Chicago" since 1976 and I fall in love with the group from first sight. Joined them on September 1st , 2024 in Concord /CA ( together with EWF). Great performance. Even without Terry Kath and Peter Cetera who are maybe besides Robert Lamm the sound of Chicago. Anyway. The guys are now almost in their late seventies but still rocking the show ! I had the choice just to let Robert Lamm know that I missed the "scrapbook" wich I heard first in 1982 in Europe. Robert said "We should play it again!". Hope to join them soon again.

“The hits died out….” Who writes this crappy copy? The hits stand up in their catalogue forever. A band is a living organism and so is the work. It has a natural cycle. Is anyone running marathons in their 60’s and 70’s? People get older, more settled, start families. Nothing lasts forever, except the quality of the art. I’m not even a big fan of their music, but I know it’s damn good and as original as hell. Having been in an original rock band when I was younger the band has an unknown life cycle and it’s worse than a dysfunctional family sometimes. But when things are good there’s nothing better.

It's kind of a waste to hear them play Beatle's and Rollingstones tunes. They could've played some new tunes from Twenty1 which is what people would've been more interested in.

When I was in college in the '90s I used to put Chicago Transit Authority in my CD player and see if my friends could tell what band it was. When I told them it was Chicago their minds were blown. They thought Chicago was just the saccharine stuff like "You're the Inspiration". As far as I'm concerned "Introduction" was the best track they ever did.

Thank you for uploading the precious video. I've been a big fan of Chicago, and when they came to Tokyo, I was around 19 years old university student, and I was there with my friend to fully enjoy their great songs. I've never thought of having an opportunity to experience the same moment on the net. Thanks a lot, again.

I appreciate the guys wanting to continue to practice their craft, but IMO they simply went on too long. The artistic machine that was Chicago died with Terry. Some of Cetera's syrup rock was ok, but the heart and soul was gone. They became a white version of the Lionel Ritchie band. Made a lot of money, but will be wiped from the annals of important 20th century music very soon.

Just saw them last night in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena along with Earth Wind & Fire and it was a fantastic show from both groups!! The show lasted 3.5 hours, more than got my money's worth for sure! I feel incredibly fortunate to have been there! Chicago played the first 90 minutes, there was a 30 minute break, EW&F had their 90 minute set and then they both played each other's hits the last half hour! It was amazing and what cost me $75 for the ticket? I would have paid double because the show was just THAT fantastic and I was sure to pick up a great, black Chicago 57 tour shirt and initially, I didn't know what the 57 symbolized but I soon realized that they've been performing together for 57 years this year! The show was outstanding, no question! If they're scheduled to be in your town? I highly recommend you see them because they are FANTASTIC! :-)

When you called me up this morning Told me about the new love you found I said, "I'm happy for you, I'm really happy for you." Found someone else I guess I won't be comin' 'round I guess it's over, baby It's really over, baby, whoa-oh And from what you said I know you've gotten over me It'll never be the way it used to be So if it's gotta be this way Don't worry, baby I can take the news, okay But if you see me walking by And the tears are in my eyes Look away, baby, look away If we meet on the streets someday And I don't know what to say Look away, baby, look away Don't look at me I don't want you to see me this way When we both agreed as lovers We were better off as friends That's how it had to be Yeah, that's how it had to be I tell you, I'm fine But sometimes I just pretend Wish you were holding me Wish you were still holding me, oh-oh, oh I just never thought That I would be replaced so soon I wasn't prepared To hear those words from you I know I wanted to be free Yeah, baby, this is how we wanted it to be But if you see me walking by And the tears are in my eyes Look away, baby, look away And if we meet on the streets someday And I don't know what to say Look away, baby, look away Don't look at me I don't want you to see me this way If you see me walking by And the tears are in my eyes Look away, baby, look away If we meet on the streets someday And I don't know what to say Look away, baby, look away Don't look at me I don't want you to see me If you see me walking by And the tears are in my eyes Look away, baby, look away Don't look at me I don't want you to see me this way When you called me up this morning Told me about the new love you found I said, "I'm happy for you, I'm really happy for you."

Like the Stones . . . Chicago did their best work with their first 1/2 dozen albums. As time went on and after the crushing loss of Kath, they slowly lost that creative spark. Very few groups and artists can sustain real creativity forever. And, of course, the music machine is no help.

For Peter Cetera to leave for a solo career was one thing. Refusing to talk about the most successful period of your career with one of the greatest bands ever along with refusing a request for a Behind the Music interview was another. If that wasn't enough, you hold out on the songs that made you and the band a success and don't give license for permission to use them. That's one of the most egotistical things a musician can do. There had to be something deeper behind all of that to make him do all of those things.

I turned 13 in 1969, and there was a buzz about these guys, but as the documentary said the songs weren’t being played on commercial radio because they were too long. Where I grew up we had a few underground shows like Jack Alex who played the new music, but most commercial stations were only playing two and a half, possibly three minute songs. Once they trimmed the songs to fit a single they were ubiquitous on commercial radio. The same thing with Yes and “Round About”, I originally heard the song on commercial radio and had no idea it was so long. My recollection of all this is a little different, because I remember Blood Sweat and Tear, and The Ides Of March, and that the horns and rock ensemble was very much established by time Chicago appeared on the scene and for me what really stood out was having such great songs and three very distinct and very capable vocalist. I didn’t care for the later sound of featuring one voice, but it kept the band together and it would be an injustice for such a talented group of musicians to have just faded away.
