Awsome! I have a project in Orlando. I have been looking at your ascender for a couple of weeks. It is a painting project for some condos and one side rlthere is no access for ground lifts... do you think they will work for the painting industry?
I've owned one for three years now. It's a serious game changer. The original battery still works fine, and the lift is still pulling me up as fast as new. It's great for those multiple big trees in a day and especially when a bucket truck can't get to it. Leaves me with more energy at the end of the day.
Release all tension and feed the rope thru without stopping, no need to slowly feed or release brake to get rope to feed or turn the knob to the left. I’m surprised y’all released this video since this isn’t how the live class is taught 😂
This thing is amazing, I’ve been climbing cell towers for 10+ years now and this is the first thing I can actually call a game changer. It doesn’t tear your rope up if using the correct 10-13mm rope
When can we get an ascender for steel wire to use on things like tuff tugs/cables If these exist anywhere, I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction
I don't think OSHA would allow it, can't use fall protection for hoisting/positioning and vice-versa. Same reason you're not supposed to tie off to the loadline, or use the same sling you use for hoisting as an anchor point for your fall protection. Dumb ass rules man, fuck OSHA.
I would like to offer an alternative method. Please give this a try. 2” wide painters masking tape. Wrap perpendicular (no spiral) so it stacks up in about 6 layers. Very tightly right from the first layer. With a VERY sharp blade cut off the end of the rope right in the middle of the wrapped tape. Hold the hot tip of a torch flame facing that cut end. Not across it, straight into it. No more than 5 seconds is needed, possibly less. That’s it. Let it cool and then peel off the scorched tape and there is the cleanest, straightest rope end you’ve ever seen. Oh, and don’t use electrician tape or anything other than paper tape. Torch makes it a mess.
Straight ends don't work with this device. It needs to be a rounded end in order for the rope to feed into the device without jamming. That's the reason for the Perfect Burn Tip which is a cupped, rounded shape to create that "bullet" style end. If a straight cut rope is fed into the Ronin it'll more than likely create some issues.
Just bought this for my 62 yo father who has a landscaping/tree business and also former paratrooper. He has had both is knees done and just got his hip replaced last week. We know he will be getting back to work asap but wanted him to take it easy on himself. He is not one to sit around at all. Lol. He is so incredibly happy with this and can't wait to test it out. We found an amazing website that we ordered from where it not only came with the brush guard but also had a deal that it came with a free $200 tree saddle. This was the absolute best gift we have ever gotten a man who has everything! Thank you, Ronin, for this amazing gear!!
@@scottishsuzuki8132 The company I work for bought one, so I’ve seen it tear up rope first hand. It is a terrible design. We use other gas powered rope ascenders, and don’t have any problems with them.
It definitely isn’t terrible I’ve got a rope we’ve had over a few hundred rides on now and it’s still in good condition. You have to know how to correctly terminate the ends of a rope and use the correct rope
This video was made on 12/4/2018. Present date is 9/6/20. Can you tell me if there have been any upgrades/modifications on the Ronin. Amazon has this for sale. How do I know if I am getting the “latest and greatest” model of the Ronin? Thanks for responding. Mariemuma@gmail.com
There's a mistake in this video at the 2:00 (two minute) mark, where the descent procedure is described and demonstrated. The video's overlay/caption text says to turn the tensioner knob clockwise (which is correct), yet the narrator in the video vocalizes the word "counter-clockwise" (incorrect -- especially if you watch his hand turn the tensioner knob in the clockwise direction).
That's because your Ronin Lift is not the model that has the additional/optional Reverse feature. If you roll the rocker/trigger switch on your Ronin Lift upwards and nothing happens, that's because you have the Standard model and not the one with the Reverse feature.
Mike you can expect around 600-800ft of ascension with 200lbs. You only use battery to ascend so if you want to count up and down you can double those numbers
