I live on Vancouver Island and am looking for a way to access remote areas for hiking/camping, and to save my 4runner from constant wear and tear of off road use... for these reasons I am leaning more towards a SxS simply because I am not experienced, they are safer, more weather friendly, and can carry more gear. I am strongly considering a quad though simply because they are cheaper and are a bit more nimble and able to get around obstacles. Really can't decide what to do though. Any opinions would be welcome!
Either option is great. What kind of gear are you needing to haul? The sxs is going to offer more space for gear in comparison to an atv, especially if you’re looking at the defender, ranger, general, style vehicles. More of the work horses vs the rzr or maverick.
This is a great channel. Regarding the "cut outs" where you go from quiet to all out power by flipping a switch, do you all sell anything that would fit 2016 arctic cat 500 alterra XL?
Great video! First time atv owner here. This tire size stuff is confusing to me. So if my stock size is 25×8×12 front & 25×10×12 rear, what would be the next size bigger tire that will fit the stock rims? I'm worried a wider tire won't fit the rim. I currently have almost a 3" clearance gap between rear stock tire and the fender, and plenty of clearance in the front on my 2016 arctic cat 500 alterra XL. I would like to go bigger without changing the stock clutch? Thanks for any help on this.
You'd probably be looking at 27" diameter tires, I'd recommend doing 2 of each of these. www.functionpowersports.com/store/tires?store=tires&sort=instock&diameter_from=12&width_from=27&brand=ITP&tmodel=Mud+Lite+II&saleToggle=0&qdToggle=0 If you'd prefer a different style tire, we can find another size combo in something else too. 🤘
@@FunctionPowersports Okay thanks for the help! As far as style or type, I'm riding primarily on hard surfaces like asphalt and hard packed gravel dirt roads and worried about excessive wear. 27" might be a bigger step up than I need. What could you recommend for somewhere in the middle?🤘Thanks again
Understandable, then I'd recommend 2 of each of these. www.functionpowersports.com/store/tires?store=tires&sort=instock&diameter_from=12&width_from=26&brand=Quadboss&tmodel=QBT846&saleToggle=0&qdToggle=0 These are only 26" and have a decent ply rating to hold up better on harder surfaces.
I had an 04’ from 2012 to 2019 & I paid $3500 for it. It had full FMF fatty’s & yzf450 stock suspension front & back. I loved it & wish I never sold it but I didn’t want to fully rebuild it either. I just want to say, fuck all these dudes collecting them & not riding them. They’re also driving up the prices for them because they’re taking more off the market that would be sold and ridden. You shouldn’t ever cage a wild beast, that’s an unforgivable sin…smfh.
The wheel itself is not narrower, both are 7 inches wide, however the stance overall will be 2 inches narrower with the 5+2 (an inch on each side). Comparing 4+3 and 5+2, the 4 and 5 are on the inside side and the 3 and are what stick out. Therefore the 5+2 only sticks out 2 inches as opposed to the 4+3 sticking out 3 inches.
