I made a bracket that attached to the top triple clamp. The back of the Powervision has 4 holes that use a RAM mount pattern. I can see if I have any photos on my cloud drive. If you have IG send me a message and I can share them if I find any.
I wish for once someone would make a real HONEST review. The bike is terrible to ride. The front end has all kinds of rattling, the throttle response is jerky to the point where you get worn out just tryjng to control it. For the money, it's a terrible bike. Honda tried to make a dual sport that had motocross power and capabilities, and they FAILED. Terrible bike. There's an honest review. I own a 2022 crf450rl. Hate it.
Its over a year since this review Mike. Give us an update for 2023. I gave a 2022 Special bought in August 2022. Now have 10,000 miles on it. No major issues. Weather is improving here in NE Pa. Going for a new rear skin and 10,000 mile service this coming Saturday. If there isnt 25 to 30,000 on it by the end of this year shame on me. I love this bike. Its number 51 in 51 years of riding. Definitely one of my most favorite.
I do actually! Haven’t made a video in a hot minute, but the PA now has over 23k on it. I’ve had the fuel pump and manifold replaced, but it hasn’t been down for months on end. I think the majority of the issues with the PA are the inexperienced dealers and techs working on them.
thanks for the video, but I honestly dont know why someone would buy that. There are so many better sounding pipes that give you the experience you want. See Two Brothers and VAnce and Hines just for starters. This sounds like Stock or VERY close to it, but thanks for sharing. thats how we learn
When I purchased my Pan Am, bought the exhaust, and released the video no one manufactured an exhaust other than the MoCo. Trust me when I say, I would have bought a different exhaust. I do actually like the tone with the db killer removed. I do love the fact that I never have to do a repack. I appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!
I have been watching RU-vid for quite a while now ,seen a lot of my interesting stuff, I'm on RU-vid every day, I think Harley davidson pan American knocked it out of the ballpark, I think the reviews about the Harley davidson pan American are running away with the VICTORY, I think odds with the RU-vid videos are about 1,000,000,000.00 to 0, the most versatile bike on the planet, the hottest bike in the world, 😎🇺🇸👍✌👌✊👊✝️🙏 no debate, end of discussion
They were ok. Comparable to the longevity of the 606’s in mileage. Depending on the terrain, I honestly think my Trackmaster 2’s we an all around better tire. I say that while comparing price, longevity, and street characteristics. All knobby tires feel the same to a degree on the street. I could almost buy a set of Trackmaster tires for the cost of just 1 of the EN91’s. They were excellent off road, but I don’t know if they were twice as good.
I spend a lot of time on RU-vid on various topics, but as the Harley davidson pan American videos, this is my favorite one next to the Laguna race track video, and I also like the video that gives a breakdown about the 1250 v twin engine, when you wonder about the motor bike's of the world, and you come across the Harley davidson pan American, probably no one ever thought that Harley davidson would come out with an all purpose bike and it's about as close to to perfect as anyone might think, muscled engine, smooth ride, and balanced, HARLEY DAVIDSON PAN AMERICAN 😎🇺🇸👍✝️🙏 PRAISE GOD,
I really dislike this motorcycle, mainly because the engine looks fake, like a toy engine on a plastic toy motorbike. It doesn't matter how well it goes in 'reality', the illusion of globe trotting , or pan Am trotting is spoiled. Matt Laidlaw is wrong, again. Buy it, realise it's not a BMW, and get rid.
Well if you into “slow and loud chrome”, by all means buy a slow and loud bike. I prefer to ride aggressively regardless of the “look”. Every bike has its place. My Pan Am with over 22k on it with minor issues, says that I’m very happy for not buying a BMW. As a side note, it’s spelled “realize” not with an “s”. Not being a dick, just being an educator.
I traded my 2019 road glide for a 2022 PAS and on my way home I started to panic that I screwed up trading. Before I got to the interstate on my way home I had made the right decision. I love the PA.
Hi Mike Just a quick question. When I put the clutch ramp assembly back in and tighten, it seems to still spin freely and there's no tension on it so as to adjust the clutch leaver. Am I doing something wrong?
Holy crap I can’t remember!! Pretty sure you have to keep tension on the cable at the lever so the cable doesn’t fall out of the ramp. Other than that, I can’t really think of anything that would keep you from setting it up. My apologies for not getting back quickly, let alone knowing a solid answer!! Good luck and hope you get it knocked out!! 👍👍
What ever happend to the full review? Thinking about doing this, I do highway on my 883 and its just a bit too buzzy around 65-70, but I also don't want to mess with a speedo being off. How do you feel about this 5 years later??? How did you feel about it then? I see you say it dropped you about 450 rpm, how was your speedo? How was your torque affected? As I understand it, this doesnt affect the best part about the 883 (the spunk), like a bigger final gear does.
For starters, thank you for this question! It takes higher revs leaving a light, but it gives you a longer first gear. It was way better after the 1250 conversion, but it did work with the 883. After taking off from a stop, it didn’t really feel any different than with the stock primary. I zero change to my speedometer because the difference was the teeth on the primary sprocket, not the pick-up for the sensor. It basically took away the buzz, and made the bike more usable for me. When I did the 1250, I could’ve changed the sprocket, and had even more gear but I never felt I needed it. It’s a great upgrade for someone whom want to stretch their legs on the highway, but doesn’t want to invest in a stock 1200 Sporty.
@@WetBananaMikeOK, that's good news, I picked up the combo (alternator and sprocket/ chain) for 50 bucks, figured worst case I've spent more on worse. I am planning the 1275 hammer kit in the near future as well. I was more worried the gearing for a larger engine would leave the 883 feeling too sluggish while I wait for the 1275 kit. I did pick up some stock 1200 heads, which hammer said would get me from the 83ish hp/tq with the stock 883 heads to around 98ish hp/tq. I suppose if you didn't feel too much low end loss from the 883 and this configuration, I think I'll be just fine. I take a couple quick runs down the highway to and from work and 65 feels like the bike is just running way high (of course I don't have a tach, but I just ordered one today), but it just feels, like everyone with a 5 speed around that highway mark I really need an extra gear. I did read that this would be the way to go for keeping speedo accurate also, so sounds like I should be pleased with this then. Thanks for you video pointing me here.
Agreed, that’s why I put on the SE exhaust! It may be quieter and sound different than an air cooled Harley, but at least it isn’t “all show and no go” like a typical one. I love all bikes regardless of the sound.
It is nice to hear someone who likes this bike, i have been looking at adding a more dirt capable dual sport to my stable, and i get so tired of hearing how bad this bike is, i just don't think its awful has to be better than the ole DRZ in my mind. ? Thanks for sharing your thoughts and know you have a new sub. dale
My friend Reggie has a DRZ/SM. He loves his bike, but the CRF is definitely more off-road capable. Every motorcycle has its own specific usage. I consider a DRZ, to be the KLR650’s more capable and fun sized second cousin. Sure there’s a hefty price tag, sure you have short oil intervals, but there is absolutely no way in hell a DRZ could every come close to the performance of the CRF. That is a fact.
Boomer Sooner! I've had 10 or so Hondas since graduating from OU in '87. XRs and CRs. The Navy forced me to ride them everywhere from Florida and Hawaii to California, Texas and Arizona (where I currently live). They're indestructible and I'm certain all my former Hondas are still out there pushing the earth. I currently ride a F800GSA and am waiting for the local shop to get a 450RL so I can chop some broccoli in the tighter stuff here in southern AZ. Ignoring how expensive they've gotten (I bought a XR650R in 2000 for $5600, pricey compared to my '93 CR500R for $3600), Honda builds durability into every bike. Sure, the KTM clan (Husky, Gas Gas, KTM, yada yada) builds a better bike out of the box, but they become relics when a Honda is just getting its seasoning. You've gat a great bike. Thanks for the video!
thinking about ordering a set of these, upgrading from a tusk dual sport. Does the 140/80 seem narrower more like a 120/90 due to the en91 sizing? also how many miles do you have on them and how are they holding up? thanks.
I’d like to put the kit in an 2003 Sportster. I don’t see going max power. Having 80 to 90 HP would seem like a huge change compared to 45ish on the 883 hugger as is. If I need more I’ll hop on my Softail.
Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to make this vid. Ive just bought a used enduro after a 10 year break and it has a new EN91 on the front. I was trying to research what to put on for my type of use. This video showing the mixed terrain is exactly like I will ride here in the French countryside. I will be buying a 91 for the rear. Regards Tony
Great review! Vortex/Q4/Megabomb + (tank and seat unfortunately) = The best, most versatile dual sport I've owned. Scratching my head though as to why they sell street legal bikes with less than 4 gallon tanks and seats you can't sit on.
When did you replace the primary output gear? I saw at 7:06 you re-tightened the nut. Was there anything more to that besides just putting the new one on?
Thank you for the video and review. Wondering if you have aftermarket ECU? I didn’t care for the throttle reaction and I don’t notice it on your video. Wondering if it’s my riding skill, or the bike? God willing, I am picking up mine Monday. Can’t wait!
Can you post an update or just comment on wear and how they are holding up ? Thanks. Hope your front forks didn't bind up when you didn't align the forks before tightening it all down in the mounting video!
Performance was outstanding…they didn’t hold up to the streets like the Trakmasters did. I had known there would be sacrifices, but for the amount of riding I do on paved roads, they just aren’t the best investment for myself. In any terrain other than paved roads, they were absolutely AMAZING!!
Thanks sir! Miss the guys, but sometimes in life, Chang is necessary in order to grow. Haven’t listened to the podcast since I left, but I’m sure they’re doing great!
