Coming from a blues background, to me, Andy is like the "Robben Ford" of rock music. You get a feeling that he means every note, and his melodies and songwriting are top notch.
Always brilliant Clive and it's so obvious how you love your instrument and produce nothing but only exceptional music we as "so-called guitarists can only stagger along in the dust after you , amazing, stunning, can't think of anything else to say except thanks sincerely for showing what can be done on a bit of wood with 6 strings, ps I know they are classy instruments but its always the piper not the pipes!.
Brozman was the most amazing slide player, ever. I met him in Santa Cruz in late 1979 or early 1980 (hard to remember) and was going to take some lessons from him. Still kicking myself for not following up. Now he's gone.
There’s guitarists every guitarist should take influence from and Andy is one of them. Humble, dedicated, passionate and genuine! He’s not trying to be a god he just plays from the heart and a good understanding of things! Legend.
Grazie ! Je ne connaissais pas ce musicien. Sa guitare et lui-même se connaissent visiblement très bien et depuis longtemps, ils forment un couple parfait.
Got to hang and play with Andy years ago at one of the Paul Gilbert Great Guitar Escapes in upstate New York for an entire weekend. We were the only two guys there that had Barry Manilow shirts. Haha. One of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet and what an incredible player. Mimi Fox was there (a Jazz goddess) and her and Andy were on stage and she says she doesn’t really know any “rock” tunes … he says “so let’s do some jazz.” She calls out Donna Lee …. And he proceeds to nail the entire head , perfectly. It was one of those moments where you realize just how much of a monstrously well rounded player he really is.
Problem with Getting old is the old drifts away, kicking stones... circles in the stream was my favorite vinyl, the acoustic soundtrack of my mind was blessed with seeing bruce....
In 1986, I think there was already a good technical capacity to have concerts recorded decently. Why do you produce this great concert in such a poor sound quality? It sounds like basic no treble no bass recording...
I agree, not the best quality to say the least. But - you know what? - in 1986 a TCS-310 Sony Walkman was all I had and/or could afford. Nevertheless, it’s a great memory for me that - in the wake of John Mayall’s passing - I thought I could share with people more focused on music than on gear. Especially when it comes to rare or uncirculating tapes. That said, If you have a better recording of this particular show or know where to get it , I’m sure you’ll be more than happy to share the info with all of us. Thanks for your interest.
Older than me at 63, and older than my cousin who attended Nepean High School in Ottawa, Ontario, Bruce Cockburn continues to be one of Canada's greatest folk icons ever.
For my money Andy Timmons is the tastiest guitar player alive. He brings so much emotion to the table. The only guitar player that can make grown men cry.
