Trabalhei com uma moto niveladora com um motor tipo esse , uma Patrol Trojam modelo MD , vendi a mesma em 2015 funcionando . Existe até hoje em minha cidade . Motor de quatro cilindros .
Had one of these running a 50 Kw generator at a mine I worked at when I was young. Every morning I got to start that beast. Never gave a lick of trouble, ever.
No it was made like that because electric starters were really just in their infancy. Nothing was really powerful enough to spin the diesel on its own.
When I was about eight or nine years old my neighbor, best friend’s father acquired a TD6 that started on gas. We quickly found out that it had no power on gas ,but on diesel it ran fine.
the gas side has a small "anti chamber" that contains the gas ignition stuff, that is then sealed off when switched over, so the plugs dont meet the diesel.
The spark plugs are in the upper chambers behind the starting valves. To start on gas, there are small valves that open up chambers to enlarge the combustion chamber and lower the compression ratio to start on gas. It is in these upper chambers the spark plugs are located. So when in high compression, the starting valves close and that conceals the spark plugs.
