Thursday August 8th 2024 at 4:36 PM I cant ignore the sadness within me listening to this knowing that a child born in that exact same moment is now decades gone, an entire set of humans with all their laughs and crys, joys and sorrows are forever gone
Florence Foster Jenkins was such a lovely humane film. It managed to steer a delicate course between mockery and admiration for her courage and her dedication to art. Meryl Streep was right when she said for much of the time, she sort of got it right. This impressive restoration shows that though she had a less than pleasant voice, she did manage to hit the majority of the notes, perhaps more than we remember from the unrestored version. It´s just occurred to me: did the "restoration" include "auto-tune" and if so, was that to correct the poor technical standards or her pitch?
"Au clair de la Lune, mon ami pierrot". That was my nursery rhyme as a child, I'm so glad it was the first recording! For those wondering, it's French.
The lyrics are : Au clair de la Lune, mon ami pierrot. It is a French song. Being French speaker, all part are pretty understandable if you know the lyrics.
