Cons: Traffic, drugs, terrible school district, cops are more likely to beat you than give you a warning, City Council is run by morons, city keeps going out of their way to find the worlds slowest road construction companies, road repairs only happen in most visible areas rather than where they're actually needed, affordable housing is kind of a joke - for every apartment building there like 5 GIANT housing developments with very large single family homes, speed limits are purposefully slower than surrounding areas for the purpose of driving more revenue through ticketing, if you have a fetish for speed bumps THIS IS YOUR MECCA! Pros: UHHH, the city isn't protected from a nuclear blast.
As someone who grew up there lived in the area for 36 years. Con traffic is always bad. Roads have not grown or widened enough for all the growth. If there's a wreck before either the hwy 9 or hwy 522 bridge your sol. Because there's only so many ways to get over the snoho river. If I was to live out that way again. It would be before the river. Back in highschool we used to call it Moron. Best food places I remember was Asian spice. Mi Terra maybe followed by ixtapa. El parisio in snoho was pretty good. Fyrelands is a flood plain area that's supposedly. Been fixed to stop that. I can remember when the river flooded that whole valley all the way to Everett was under water.
It’s a dump, the small neighborhood parks are loaded with used needles, passed out drug addicts. You have vagrants sleeping on the streets downtown, that’s always fun to deal with while taking in the downtown restaurant scene. Have a nice car, don’t mind the break ins to steal some change, it’s rampant.
Biggest con = Highway 2. Make sure to drive with headlights on and when driving the valley on a cold morning in pea soup fog, don't dare slow down even though you can barely see 50 feet, you'll turn into someone else's hood ornament.
It’s weird that people keep talking about outlet malls, it’s well known that the goods sold here are of much lower quality than the stuff sold at their main stores.
I used to own a cabin in Index years ago. Beautiful area but somehow it always felt isolated and wanting. Many of the folks are very poor and clannish. Big meth problem as well. In winter the roads are very dangerous. I lived in the cabin while working in Everett for some years and then rented it out when I started to work back in the Seattle area. Eventually I was able to sell it but the market for places up there was boom or bust. I could never figure the home prices in places like Sultan and Monroe. Crazy high prices to live out in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful to visit but that is about it.
South marysville con is for sure the train. It turns the area into Gridlock on a regular basis. My first home was off of 88th and I absolutely hated getting stuck due to the train.
So if the average doctor of other high paid employees cant afford it, and definitely cant make use of it by having somthing like a family.. even without kids your wife/parter will also need to be working a high paid job to afford.. seems like a glitch and then everything breaks and not as described, everyone is trying to scam u or worse and nothing is done right
I think it's misleading to say that all of Everett is totally urban and only has small lots. There are several communities on the outskirts that have larger lots.
Seattle is more expensive than Everett but it is far, far, far, more exciting and dynamic than Everett. Seattle in the past few years hasstruggled a bit, with homelessness downtown but that won't last. Restaurants and bars in Everett compared to Seattle? Concerts, theater, outdoor events in Everett compared to Seattle? Not even close. But if you like a smaller-town vibe, Everett may be a good fit for you. You can drive to Seattle. Seattle is not terribly friendly, that is true. If you want to buy a house, Seattle may be just priced out of your reach. It is expensive, that's true.

I have lived in Marysville since 1975. I love my home, but Marysville isn't the same town it once was. Let me give you my 3 reasons why you shouldn't move to Marysville. Real reasons lol 1. Don't move to Marysville if you can't handle fireworks all year long. That Indian Reservation she spoke of? Federal land. They sell $100's of $1000's worth of fireworks come 4th of July every year. Its big money for them. The 4th sounds like a war zone if you live within 20 miles of the rez. It's terrible, to be honest. 2. The trains she mentioned? They are non stop day and night. Every 20 min . No one loves them that is from Marysville and lives close to the tracks. 3. The traffic is bad in Marysville. The Haggen store she spoke of? It is over the tracks and through one of the busiests intersections in town. Don't go anywhere at 5pm here There are good and bad anywhere you live Marysville has changed so much since 1975 it's unrecognizable. No matter what changes come, I'll always call Marysville, Washington home. It really is a great place to live.
I moved away from Everett, Wa., 14 years ago. It was one of the best decisions of my life. Seriously, that town sucks. It's crime-ridden, and the police and courts are corrupt.
