Dork Tales follows the gaming exploits of Kelly, resident Dungeon Master/Game Master/etc, and a revolving cast of friends in the Pacific Northwest! Our games are about story, authentic friendships, roleplaying, and fun!
Episodes are broadcast live on twitch.tv/dorktales and uploaded to RU-vid 48 hours afterward. From time to time, we also Kelly's Let's Plays, movie reviews, and other videos. Welcome to the party!
Be sure to follow our Twitter for updates!
Also, a few notes about comments: 1. Be respectful. No personal callouts about players will be tolerated. This includes remarks about physical appearance or dress. 2. No hate speech, harassment, or LGBTQA+-phobic rhetoric. 3. If you have to defend your opinion by saying something like "Hey we don't live in the Third Reich so I can say what I want" your opinion is officially crap. 4. We're all fans of the same stuff, so let's try to keep it positive or constructive.
All of the above can be summed up with: "Don't be a dick."
I just did a quick run-through of the rivals fighting the Aboleth and they literally took him down in one round thanks to Dermot's Searing Wrath attack which caused the Aboleth to be blinded so he couldn't charm any of the rivals on his turn. One round was all it took to take him down. Might consider upping the HP for the Aboleth and maybe give him some immunities to at least make the fight seem a little more difficult.
That's odd... it should be visible right now? I posted it months ago... *checks* WELL CRAP. Check back 8 hours after I send this comment. Thanks for the nudge!
Nope! We just hit a really rough patch of scheduling mixed with some personal tragedies. We're actually returning with episode 10 on Thursday of this week on Twitch, so it should be up on RU-vid a few days after.
1. Does it bother anyone else that Irvin said to call him "Den" when Den is not a first name, but refers to the fact that he belonged to a Den in Xhorhas? 2.. When was Galsariad ever jovial? Just saying... This said, I still absolutely love watching this version of Call of the Netherdeep. I'm getting so many ideas for my own game. It's amazing.
1. Honestly, he had to be named something. Den seemed a good enough name. 2. If Galsariad is played exactly how the book paints him he gets REALLY boring to play and play with. He needs to have some caustic humor IMO.
Robin as Kaeko = Love this character! I once played a Goliath Bard/barian that was the mother of their group. Absolutely love the ability to step outside of the troupe. Christa as Sabina = Amazing playing as an innocent child. Waiting for the moment when she finds her inner strength and unleashes it in a torrent on the BBEG. Christina as Zenada = Honestly surprised by how long it took the fans to figure out her backstory, but love it nonetheless. Caitlyn as Xarria = Curious backstory, interested to see where this goes since it goes against much of what I know about tieflings and Exandria in general. Chris as Dorlen = Holy actual F$$K! WTH??? Your brother is worse than Dahmer!
Regarding Valas: Three things. 1. Has anybody in the party realized that he gave them their last healing potion yet? 2. I never believe someone is truly dead until I see their body. 3. Was he consecuted?
Goblins have an increased risk of colon polyps so in areas where there isn't access to Lesser Restoration, they sometimes resort to using Wands of Burning Hands for cauterization. Please support Clerics without Borders to bring Lesser Restoration to these remote dungeons ... (don't blame me, you went there)
I know this is from two years ago, but a suggestion for any DMs thinking of running this campaign: If the rivals are friendly with your party, rather than the DM running 5+ NPCs, have your party each run one of the rivals for combats so things can run smoother and it's not just 10 minutes or more of the DM rolling dice. Again, this only works if the rivals are friendly unless you REALLY trust your players.
Thanks for the comment! We're actually finally doing the complete How to Run COTN in a couple of weeks, so if you have any specific questions or suggestions for other users, let me know here or in the Discord! I'd love to get other perspectives.
I really enjoyed this series, as well. The story was interesting, and compelling, and the social lives of the characters felt almost as interesting as the main narrative. One technical point: this appears to be the last episode of Season 1, but in the video, you were clearly expecting another episode to round-out the season. Presumably, something changed that, but it would be good to edit the description to make it clear that the story continues in Season 2. (I am very much looking forward to some of the mystery being unveiled in Season 2) ***SPOILERS BELOW*** I was sad that the pack killed Mark Sullivan, though. He clearly was a jerk (his conversation with his brother was highly misogynistic), and probably a dangerous one (although I don't think we ever got 100% confirmation that he had actually killed the girl). But it was clear that a lot of strange stuff was going on, and I would have thought they'd have gone in with the objective of capturing him and getting more information.
Thanks for the comment! It's been a few years now, so I'm not sure exactly what happened in regards to the wrap up of the season, but there is a lengthy season two that follows.
I know this was two years ago, but why does Dorlen keep taking his armor off? I understand not sleeping in it, but why doesn't he just put it on in the morning???
