Having 130 live plants in my collection, I'm all in with decorating with plants. I have area rugs and definitely use books as decor. I could not live in a home without wall art! I change out my pillows seasonally. Great video.
What wonderful and inspiring dining room ideas! I am in the process of sprucing up our dining room. The large sculptural pieces are fire! I never considered putting a large art piece on the wall. Where could I purchase the first piece that was shown?
I can't find an exact match for this on sale now. It's likely an original piece. Your best bet for finding something similar is on Etsy. Try searching "abstract metal wall art" or "abstract wood wall art" on Etsy.com. I uploaded this image to Pinterest and they returned some similar results that are available for purchase. Another wonderful video! You have inspired me to finally start moving on my dining room. I would also love a video about a guest bathroom. One that is simply a powder room. I have 8 ft ceilings and it sometimes feels like an elevator shaft in there, lol. But it is the bathroom that all guests to my home use and I want it to have everything a guest might need along with looking clean, warm and inviting.
Thank you! It's so funny you mentioned guest bathrooms. That's my next house project. I wanted a little refresh. I'm going to be switching out some cabinet handles, trying out a peel and stick molding as a mirror frame and switching up my curtain rod height so it starts just below the ceiling for a more dramatic look. Video to come on that project in the next few of weeks.
Thanks so much! I got that necklace from Amazon several years ago in a set of layering necklaces. Unfortunately, it looks like that set is no longer available. But, this necklace is nearly identical (the chain looks a little longer). - amzn.to/4g6qV8v
This actually helps me a lit because l can't stand vistors coming to my house l just want to tell my mom but l don't want sound rude but if l have to l should l can just tell her in a polite way
This video doesn't come close to addressing my houseguests. The only people that wear out my welcome are the ones who refuse to leave after I've "politely" asked them to find another place to live. I have houseguests who changed the lock on my guestroom, refusing to give me a key to keep me from "going thru their things." Accordingly, I told them I needed them to leave immediately, afterwhich they screamed at me for not appreciating them. It has been 8 months since, and now they are threatening me with a $1 million lawsuit for continuing to try to get them out, accusing me of wanting to murder them. What say you now? Indirect politeness doesn't even register on their radar. These are houseguests gone postal.
Thank you for your tips and I love your manner and voice, very soothing. I use a lot of your tips, I invited friend who invited friend and now I'm stack with unwanted guest who lives in another state and has plain ticket for 5 days from now. I feel like made or Cinderella in my own house. It is difficult for me to directly say to them that I'm not a made her.
I've love to push my bedroom against a wall, but I have walls which are parallel that both have sliding glass doors(one is closet mirrors). Makes it hard to have more room and still keep both door completely accessible.
It was like Friday Night Lights … I didn’t want to be a nuisance to my neighbors…. It is refreshing to hear that even an expert like yourself needs to adjust and tweak with DIY improvements around the home!. Terrific ideas here.
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful reflections on well-chosen home furnishings. The Company Store is another source for really nice-quality bedding at fair prices, & they also carry bath towels & shower curtains, rugs, curtains/drapes, lamps, & so forth. 🌿💐🌿😊🌿💐🌿
Great ideas and reassurance. Over the years I have learned to have a basket in the guest room that is a “beauty” basket. I will put samples that I get with my various routine purchases, or a one use packaged beauty mask that I got on sale somewhere along the line - you’d be surprised how fast the basket can fill. Particularly for female houseguest it can be fun to try new things. And if they do a beauty mask, you may find yourself with a half hour to an hour that you aren’t entertaining! Allowing the guest quiet time to relax and recharge may be just what he or she needs. Love your channel. So excited to see you are over the 1000 mark. Keep up the wonderful work.
Moving into a new place this month and I found your advice helpful! I didn't wanna ditch my queen mattress that I love. The lady in this comment section being a little dramatic about her wood furniture it's not that serious lol. Just my opinion tho, thanks for your advice!
Stop! I'm not even a minute into your video and already you are saying...stay with a smaller bed frame, stay away from the bulky wooden bed frames like sleigh beds... What? You just introduced this video saying some of us have either downsized and own big furniture....or we inherited the beautiful old big beds....So why are you saying let's decorate with smaller metal bed frames. Can we get back to how to use big old beautiful wood furniture in a small bedroom....sigh ... Ok. So went back to watching the rest of your video. So so disappointing 😔 I really thought you were going to help us figure out how to use the furniture that we already have. That's the challenge lady. Anybody can figure out how to buy little furniture to fit into a little bedroom. This was just like all of the other videos. Here's what you need to buy to go into your new place. It has nothing to do with using your beautiful big wooden furniture. Sad.
Hi there! I can see how you may have assumed the entire video was about replacing furniture. However, this is not the case. There are tips for arranging a small bedroom with large furniture for a variety of scenarios in this video. If you do not want to use any furniture alternatives, tips #4, #5, and #6 are for you. Here's the cliff notes version for anyone who missed these tips. Tip #1 - Opt for a low-profile bed frame Instead of downsizing your mattress, slim down your bed frame. It will give you more walking room in your space and is less expensive than downsizing and having to replace a frame and mattress. Tip#2 - Use open leg nightstands Open-leg nightstands will visually open up a space. If you already have a two-drawer nightstand you can always remove the bottom drawer and unscrew the rails to get a similar look. Tip #3 - Consider half-moon or half-round nightstands Half-moon or half-round nightstands take up significantly less space and will give you more walking room around your bed. Tip #4 - Stick to 3 pieces of furniture max Instead of trying to squeeze a large 5-piece bedroom set into a small room, pick 3 key pieces to maintain walking space. This may be a bed and two nightstands, but it may also be a bed, nightstand, and chair or a bed, nightstand, and desk combination. A bed, dresser, and nightstand are also an option. Tip #5 - Wall mount shelves for storage If you're short on storage space, wall mount shelves. You can use these to hold boxes of jewelry in place of a jewelry armoire or books in place of a bookshelf. Tip #6 - Off-center bed positioning Off-center bed positioning will open up floor space. For anyone sharing a bed, I recommend one narrow aisle and one larger aisle. However, you can push a bed all the way up against the wall. This works well for beds with a single occupant. Visual examples for each of these tips are included in the video.
Hey there! It came already attached to the door when we bought the house. I've seen just the iron grilles for sale, but they're usually used/salvaged from a renovation.
