I don't get it I can look at better graffiti on the side of my mom's building for free and it gets covered up every year and the kids just make more new s*** this is just s*** But I can't tell if that's supposed to be a zombie a white man or a malado F*** I can't even tell where the painting ends I actually kind of like that part but like Scribbling on a wall in drilling holes into buckets of sand isn't art and this this is just pathetic
i dont pay for the skills i pay for the results, i dont care if it took you 1000 years to master something im not paying anything higher than material and work time, for anything, thats just me tho i know a lot of people will spend a shit load on stuff like this
But the thing about "work time" is it's relative to the skill of the artist. The only reason it took like 30 hours instead of 150 is cus they've mastered the work. Hence why skilled artists charge a lot more
That’s fine and that why you probably don’t pay for people who are a) very skilled at what they and b) creating art cause you’re paying mainly for their skill level and how long it took them there. Not everything can be determined by materials and work labor it’s not like working on a car lol.
@@maxbaltz2490 i dont buy something unless im satisfied with the quality so i would say they do fine, even if they arent very good at it, oh well? its never bothered me and ive gotten great value per dollar so, if i see something that is overpriced im just not going to get it. speaking of working on a car by your logic i should charge 1000 dollars for an oil change because he took a very long time to develop his skills as a mechanic, like im not going to pay for someones schooling or reimburse them for taking time out of their life to learn a skill and make profit from it, you dont get paid to learn a skill and make shit load of money for it, you learn it to make money with the actual skill. but that has to correlate to the skill and value of said skill. spending a lot of time painting and getting better at art is most likely a fun hobby for you anyway, you dont get 4k just cause you do it well now that makes no sense. it wasnt that hard to produce (for the artist) it didnt take you very long and it wasnt some grueling task. therefore no big bucks.
@@thenerdyanarchist3492 it depends on the artist and what others in the market have paid for it. If an artist sells that particular work for a set amount, that means they have found a consistent market to sell too. It’s also a way to store your value, and resell it for more later as an appreciated asset. That is also why artists like myself offer prints at a lower cost.
I think it says more about you're art than you realize. If people ghost you and lowball you when you say 4k for something like that. Don't get me wrong, it's big and it looks cool, but definitely not 4k.
@@danielpoirier6886 this would be true…. If… it wasn’t the average price and even more than what they are sold for. As an artist, you just accept that your art… is not for everyone 🤷♂️ So artists, make sure your pricing is consistent 🫡
You need to realize how much professional materials and frames cost, not to mention the hours of practice they put in to even pull this off, then the hours of work to create it. If artists back down on pricing it leads people to think art isn't worth what it is and makes it harder for everyone to get paid appropriately
I have commissioned some cover art for fanfic over the last 20 years and man, people are shocked when I've looked at their price list and request using that like a functional human being. I want cover art for the thing I made, yes I'm paying the rate you asked, is this hosting service and use case acceptable? Yes I'll keep it out of cloud services that train AI with user data. No, I won't crop out your watermark. Pay in advance? Never seen it done any other way. Yes, I'm putting your link tree under the image with your name so people who like it can find you. You don’t like fandom and want to charge me an extra $$ for extra time looking it up? Fair. You say you'll do it full color and shaded for your full color shaded price, but if you try to do the cartoon/sketch version it'll look messy since it's an action scene, here's the sketch I've got see what I mean? You know, I got the budget and you got a point. Or I don’t got the budget do you have a solution. You made art based on my stupid idea when you could have said "nah, that's not my thing" I don’t know why anyone would act any differently except that their mama didn’t teach them manners.
