if they changed their govt structure like Japan/UK. give power to prime minister, and the Emperor become like a god figure to ppl, Qing Dynasty might still survive today. Japan Emperor learned this trick thousand years ago that's why they survive thousand years without overthrown til today.
Zaifeng (or Prince Chun) could never have become emperor: it was an old habit (also in earlier dynasties) that the brother of a former emperor did not succeed him
What a useless emperor in the history, yet so many people knelt down ? Most likey those had benefited from her through corrouption or directly work for her
I don’t understand this video’s assertion. Joseon Dynasty is Korean Kingdom and had close ties to Chinese various dynasties. I don’t think they would write such record of atrocity if they wanted peace between the two countries. Very poorly written video.
UNLIKE EUROPEAN KINGS AND DUKES, SO STINGY TINY PORTIONS LIKE FRENCH FOOD AND DAMN EXPENSIVE TOO LIKE SINGAPORE DISHES (SMALL PORTION+EXPENSIVE= PEASANT FOODIES). CHINESE ON THE OTHER HAND FOLLOW QING DYNASTY EMPERORS; DINING LIKE A KING (CALLED DIM SUM)
Personally, in my opinion, there was no safe sex back then. The only was to ensure the Emperor's safety was to marry into families that were known to them. (meaning they knew what type of VD they had, if any).
After viewing these photos, I am glad the Communism took over China. The communists rescued the people from poverty and massive starvation by feeding them, clothing them, and putting the people to work. Housing is still an issue with the Chinese, though. There are homes constructed of mud with thatch roofs OR people living on mountain cliffs for shelter. This is heartbreaking even though the people have adapted to living in such dangerous conditions.
Cixi’s life is fascinating. I wish a movie would be made to tell her story. Like her or hate her, she was a force to be reckoned with. Thanks for another great video!
I spent 20 years living and working in China and have been to the Forbidden City 14 times and the Summer Palace 5 times. Both are fascinating places. CiXi I feel get bad press some of which is deserved and some of which is not.
Cxi-Cxi had established the first modern Chinese navy. Unfortunately the emperor took little interest in it and failed to keep it up to date at a time of rapid naval innovation, hence the Japanese victory.
Most interesting. See what happens when the West respects other nations dignity, and they work together for their mutual benefit. Sadly, today there are too many Lay's and not enough Herd's.
Nobody really knows! Empress Cixi can not defend herself, all you said was actually just a theory that could have come me from the enemies of the Qing dynasty. Cixi could have been poisoned too by the same traitors.
Today for the first time in its 5,000 year history, the Middle Kingdom has ZERO threat on its Northern border (no Huns, no Mongols, no USSR), instead Beijing has its best buddy in Moscow, and its biggest threat is from the sea East.....
Reminds me of that scene in "the Last Emperor" when Puyi went to his wet nurse for comfort, which upset the powerful women of the court and Puyi was very upset when they got the wet nurse dismissed.
