I'm Coach T...I spent 2020 going from 300' to 500'+ by only studying world-class distance throwers by video analysis. I CANNOT slingshot a disc as far as the pros, but for an out-of-shape 35 year-old, I can put a pretty good move on a disc.
100% sure that if i film you for 20 different shoot and i will see you lift up you foot not at the right time ...according to your point of view which is not mine ...with all respect ...
A tip for those who are reaching for high numbers and fast results like myself. I have recently realized this. Develop a well timed standstill with putters to work on the skill, and develop full form on xstep (slow or fast). It will be easier for the brain and body to separate the two. A complete standstill and xstep are differently timed anyway, so you will have a different type of shot in the arsenal in the future. Because honestly. Being in constant form change is mentally exhausting after months and months. And if you hit the course, only use the standstill form and stick to that arsenal while on the course. Putter rounds on standstill is great skill practice. Throwing a putter relaxed from standstill with great timing easily gives you 300 feet just to put things in perspective. And you can use the skill training as your warmup session and make everything a bit more fun. That's my tip.
This is a type of one step. However, it does not look accurate at all. Try both feet together, then a simple half pull and step. One step or no step needs to be more accurate.
I have watched your videos from day 1 thank you for your honesty and candor, breaking it down from the heart. The passion for form is the right of passage we all must go through to get the numbers we want. The quest for form is for the few.
I heard McBeth say something similar in the past, build power first then work on accuracy. Point being an whatever "accuracy" you've built is going to get destroyed once you start changing your form for more power.
Im stuck throwing 350 ft frozen ropes at 700 rpms,,, Add Good Mornings in to your exercise routine ,but make sure your back is feeling good before you do. Back problems will be a thing of the past. They can be done standing or horizontal of you have the equipment.
Well you have a very high spin rate for 55-60mph which means the disc flies flatter for longer. Most of the numbers on tech disc aren’t particularly useful to form improvement, to your point they’re skill tweaks. Your perceived effort to arm speed, and the spin you get on that speed definitely is though.
Use specific language to differentiate the two moves. Saying "like this" and "like that" isn't helpful as the two demonstrations are very similar. You need to explain how a leg coils. Because legs don't coil, slinkies do. Please explain the timing of the front leg moving. You don't mention the back leg push off or the ball to heel transition of the front foot. This video is painfully vague and the target market is dying for the specifics.
Im assuming for right hand back hand, the one step, with the front right foot you step further left, vs parallel like golf aim. Disc golf is offset and stagger stance, yes?
Too bad you're not turning the key. Your nose is up on every release you demonstrated. You're ignoring an entire fundamental attempting to coach another.
Lifting a leg while coming forward is a biomechanics energy leak. It’s not necessary AT ALL. It feels natural to people who don’t have core awareness to lift the leg.
Just started playing recently and I recorded myself throwing today. I had no idea my form was so off haha.. With all the steps to think about in a quick second, its hard to tell where youre going wrong without seeing your own form. Back to the field tomorrow
This tip imediately increased my distance 60-70feet, you will get more spin and a nice and better slingshot effect. Important to have a proper reach back, and keep the disk close to the pocket pulling it through - and it will end with a nice snap and good spin!
You mention in your one on one training videos that your front and back feet should be in a line. Do you still hold this thought? In all three players you talked about today their right legs are staggered in front of their back legs.
This is so in-depth. Thank you for putting this out. I would love to come out someday and train with you. Daughter is back in school tomorrow, and im heading straight to the field for some practice cant wait.
Just a note that women with larger chests can’t bring the disc through their chest. Should I try to throw above my boobs or lean over more to go under them?
Just stumbled onto your videos a week or two ago and been watching and subscribed. I just started working on my form more and will be working more and more on what your showing as it makes the most since to me out of anyone I have watched. I only been playing since late September 2023. I'm 55 years old and been working on getting in shape and disc golf has really helped along with a complete diet change. I have lost 120lbs in 16 months by diet and disc golf. Can only throw about 230 to 250ish but when I started trying some of your teachings I was only throwing around 180 to about 215ish but in just a week of really trying have added some noticeable distance (I do use a walking wheel and measure my throws to keep track of improvement.). Will keep working on it over the next few months as I work to undo the way I was throwing to this new much improved way. Great vids. Really enjoy them.
Working on incorporating this into my walk up as well as my stand stills. Also trying to teach this to others. I’m still trying to get it down. Good stuff.
I can throw almost 400 from a standstill. Fortunately I never stood on one foot though but sometimes my follow through forces the disc downward so I lose distance. Not sure if it’s wrist control on angle of my elbow 🤷🏽♂️
