This is hilarious. Thirteen minutes and not a single audio example. I’ll bet this guy mixes tracks in the studio the same way. “Yeah, let me add a little 6k, take out a little 250...” “Um, could you hit play first?” Lolol jeez
All very good and interesting, and thank you for the presentation, but I found this pro-tips/tutorial video not so useful without hearing any of the piano sound recorded using this technique. Do you have more videos of this setup where there is actual sound of the piano in conjunction with this placement of the Beta 91A?
I think the reason why they did this is because the people operating the desk are volunteers or inexperienced, there for a simple mic set up and a simple desk set up means it is very easy to use. Also they are trying to reduce the bleed coming of the rest of the stage.
Thanks for this. I am new to setting up a mic for a piano. So the sound of the piano will be picked up by the mic and then out of a PA? Also, since the piano top is closed, is there a way for the player to hear what he is playing (since the rest of the band will be loud)? Is there an additional PA pointed in his direction with the sound of only his piano to address this? Thanks!
Im doing the sound at my church,we have a Bosendorfer grand piano,we installed a piano mic.This past wednesday the band practised,I raised the volume of the grandpiano,I even closed the lid of the piano but I cannot hear the piano at all,however when I put the headphones on at the sound bored I can hear the piano..PLEASE HELP
