Hey there, my name is Devon. On my RU-vid channel, I document my online business selling car parts on eBay, and try to help others start, manage, and grow their own automotive side hustle.
I’m looking for a build able cargo star or maybe load star, I’d really like one like this one… any leads? I have an old Fruehauf box that would fit great and after a good polish .. yes sir
I have been dismantling cars for over ten year and it's a great. I will hit the wrecking yard from time to time and if you know what you are looking for the margins can be off the charts. Some parts are well over 1000% profit when sold on ebay.
I would make sure that I was checking comps and sell through rate. How OFTEN that part is selling can be a huge indicator for how long you might have it listed. If it's not moving at all and it's been on there for a min, I would lower price, promote it, and possibly start a store wide coupon.
Hi Dev! Can I get your contact details for a business enquiry please? I am also into auto parts business but on a quite larger scale here in UAE. So was thinking of discovering new possibilities.
I am growing in Dismantling business, and we might be future business partners because we have similar Mindset, i started 2021 but was being in car flip thing almost 8 years so gave me enough knowledge and experince , just bought 15 acre land and put 52 cars already, buying cars iaa and fb marketplaces(sometimes 500$ for whole car) and i m listing only from fb marketplace now but will go big time ebay soon, so cheer up dismantling is my dream
I bought my first C30 R-Design in 2009. When I learned they were stopping production, I was fortunate to find #140/250 (6 speed manual) locally. I drive it still today. All original, which is rare. I haven't even tinted the windows. I am so attached to the car and I get compliments all the time, 10 years after I bought it. It's my favorite hatchback by far. It hurts me to see the car salvaged, but it looks beautiful now.
Its a very sharp c30, in a polestar blue, but i have to clarify, its not a polestar. Believe its a factory r design, but I assure you, its not a polestar. There was never a polestar in production.. it has a tune and exhaust. Youve been had. Thats an 8 thousand dollar car all day. I have an 09 in galactic white, with 89k on it. Besides the year difference i assure everyone its the same car. Polestar made one car for r&d . It was awd and 400bhp . You have a repainted front wheel drive c30. Much respect for the rebuild.
Yes it was not “made” by polestar. It’s a Volvo but it is a limited production and has the “ /250” badge on the interior. In the video I show exact same models at auction doing between 23k-27k
You dont know what your are talking about. the Polestar PCP is the AWD car with 400+ horsepower. the Volvo c30 Polestar is a special edition of the facelifted c30, they made 250 of them and came from factory at 250hp compared to 227hp from the normal C30.
Looks like a lovely car to flip! I'm aiming to sign up to Copart this year. Been window shopping for months but haven't paid for the yearly subscription yet. Definitely wanna flip some cars in 2023!!
Really appreciate it! I’m finally flying back home from the holidays in a couple days. After I get settled I’ll be trying to do at least a video a week, hopefully 2 or even 3.
@@devdoesauto That sounds awesome. I'll definitely stay tuned. Over the years, me and my girlfriend have sold car parts but we're looking to really push it and make it a more reliable income. It's great seeing your business model, something I wouldn't have thought of since we were getting spare parts from junk yards. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Safe travels back, and happy new year mate!
Hey! Whatsup dev i also have a big ebay carparts selling store. I have a lot of american car parts you can might sell. I ask low prices as i cant sell them in EU How can we get in touch? I have brand new oem items used items etc
Too small was a chode car. Sad part is they didn't market it as a ricer but a sports saloon with its exotic styling and wide stance in the magazine. It needed to be the size of the g6 on the cts platform and the g6 body style on this saturn sky platform
sport saloon? a saloon is a 4 door sedan, pretty sure pontiac solstice was seen as a competitor against entry level sport coupes at the time such as rx8 and s2000, pontiac did sell a full size sport saloon, at the same time, it was the g8
Can you talk more about how you approach collision centers to get parts? Who do you talk with? How do you present yourself and how it will benefit the shop? What is the fee you take for your cut? No doubt much more to explain... thanks
Sure I can definitely make a video dedicated to those kinds of things. You just want to present yourself in a professional way and easily identify the benefits they will get from working with you - they will make money, it won’t take any effort on their end, and they can trust you.
spent my day today taking pictures and listing parts on ebay. i buy and strip broken or wrecked cars. The dismantling option is by far the best way if you have space. I usually get cars in the 10-15 year old range with blown engine or bad transmission something not worth fixing. I get cars for anywhere from free to usually less than $600 and can turn almost any car into at least 2k most cars 5-7k.
Hey bro I enjoy your content. I just have a few questions how fast are you able to sell the headlights? And do you ever “promote” it on eBay or just post it regularly. And also are they super expensive to ship since they are big items? Please let me know thank you in advance
Thanks! I usually have headlights listed anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months. If I lowered my prices I’m sure that number would come down but I’m not really in a rush to sell. I do not promote. If the item you’re selling is expensive and there are a lot of similar listings that would potentially be a time to promote. Headlights are definitely expensive to ship, however I usually make the buyer pay or do free shipping but factor the shipping into the price. Hope that all helps
Thank you for your response I was wondering about that promote option, but you are definitely right if there are a lot similar listing it would help to do so. I usually promote all my items on eBay so I’m not quite sure how long it would take to sell organically glad to know that it doesn’t take suuuper long to sell it without promotion.
Pretty neat idea reaching out to shops like that. Do you normally just ask if they have headlights/taillights or just any part they’d like to try and sell?
I usually just ask for parts in general - anything at all that they have in storage/aren’t using that you could sell and make them some extra money. Not every shop will say yes, but eventually you will find someone with a stockpile for you
If the shop replaces the part, and is paid by insurance, then the insurance company requires disposal of the part. The shop is not allowed to resell the broken part.
Nice video! A possible solution to highlight something like that damaged tab is using Post It arrow stickers in your photos. BUT, it is also important to note that your broken tab appears to be removable! So, someone buying it could salvage the tab from their original headlight!
I take everything upfront and then repay them when a part sells. My cut is usually 30-40 percent depending on the amount it sells for and how much work it is to pack and ship
@@devdoesauto Very nice. Thanks for the reply! I did pretty well decades ago doing something similar on ebay. Maybe it's time to get back to it as a side hustle.
