“I can’t believe this huge place was a mall!” That’s why it has a big sign at the entrance that says RIGMAR MALL. “How do I get to the second level?” Ever heard the concept of stairs?
This mall is going down the drain! It has been on life support for years and it is not getting any better. I remember when this mall was built in the 70's and was great to visit. This mall might on the Dead Mall series hosted by Dan Bell.
Hey Paul, great video! We're definitely going to go check out this attraction when we are in town. For the record: those are Cricket batting cages. Thanks again for filming your experience.
hard to believe I saw it being built, then later going to sears, radio shack, book stores and the gyro place.. then later it was open for the walkers...
It will probably be demolished in the future, and replaced with a townhome or mixed-use development. This was the fate of North Hills Mall on Grapevine Highway of North Richland Hills, Texas.
I remember going in the late 80's. There was a large spiral ramp in the mall that you could walk from the first floor to the 2nd floor (and back down). There was also a Whataburger in the mall that had horse saddles as seats.
Get a 3x3 next time for more meat unless you wanna go all out with the 4x4 lol. You can ask for the chopped banana peppers in the burger or on the fries also.
Wasn’t a huge fan myself. Perhaps overhyped throughout the years. I drove down from Buffalo New York to LA one summer with some buddies. Had to be on the bucket list Granted I didn’t have animal style. I gotta try that next time
Yes that can be sad, all our memories of places we enjoyed in the past slowly disappearing, but you never know what the future may bring for these places.
I LOVED this place! Omfg!! I thought it was the coolest concept ever. I loved how they made this whole place fun. It was like being at Disney World. I may be in the minority but I loved themed restaurants. It makes everything so fun and memorable.
the name "Ridgmar MALL" didn't tell you it was a mall?! yes, a dead mall, when the Neiman-Marcus pulled out it was kaput but the decline was steady throughout 2K-2010 as Carswell closed and became a reserve base, a lot of the retail moved out & N up TX183 around the WalMart
So cool dude, thanks for sharing. Ive often thought about this place over the years. its funny the things you remember as a kid. I have very fond memories at woodfield mall going to the various events, shopping, rainforest cafe many times in the 90s and early 2000s. But for some reason i remember this place vividly. It was like having our own little piece of disney world in the Chicago burbs. I was only 10 years old when i went there the two times while it existed but i clearly remember how awestruck i was at the creativity and how much effort was put into this restaurant inside of a mall. Thanks for taking me down memory lane
Oklahoma City and Waco are directly tied. Timothy McVeigh was amongst the crowd at Waco that stayed during the entire 51 day siege. In his upset of how it was dealt with, he purposely bombed Oklahoma City on the anniversary of the Waco siege. Very sad
The fool in the cowboy hat is illinformed. It has been proved the Federal Agents fired first. They shot the dogs then fired through the front doors. A jury found the Dividians acted in sekf defense and were justified in returning fire which resulted in the agents deaths.
Unfortunately I lost some of my collection in a move, I don't think I ever had any posters but any aurora borealis polar bear items I did have were lost I think - I did recently buy a little hot wheels/matchbox type car that has the polar bears that were looking at that from the original commerical but the boralis is not seen on the package.
It is kind of amazing that it's just a vinyl mesh that they stretch out over a frame. It makes sense that they would need to replace them every once in a while. Which location is this?
thanks for posting this, really dug this place before it closed. The ambiance of mars rocks everywhere, the laser projected displays, the waitresses dressed as aliens characters. Looks like Epcot is copying this idea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0fHd4EnBawg.html
