Welcome to the R.O.A.D. Podcast. The show gives you unfiltered opinions from the eyes and ears of 3 seasoned DJs from the Las Vegas nightclub industry. DJ Crooked and DJ Neva come to us by way of New York; Manhattan and The Bronx respectively. Both relocated to Vegas in the early 2000s to open, what was then, Light and Jet Nightclub. Crooked is known for his workhorse mentality, and high-energy DJ sets, but has never been one for the industry politics. While DJ Neva has earned his OG status due to his countless years of experience in the DJ game. In 2007, they brought a piece of home with them by founding KNYEW (an acronym for “Keeping New York Every Where), a successful clothing brand, the first of its kind to be seen in Las Vegas. Similarly, Jaime Da Great grew up in LA. Jaime, while making a huge name for himself in the sneaker industry, has shifted his focus to becoming a full-time DJ.

58:15 - Camilo describes the vibe in New York City when EVERYBODY - the corner store - the dealers on the block - the barbershop - Your cab driver - EVERYBODY was tuned into the Radio - you had to be there - it was such a nice era and vibe in the city
The younger generations have difficulty socializing in person. It is no surprise that it would come as a bit of a challenge to be able to do it in the context of a stage and the spotlight that it brings to an individual. Being personable with clients and other DJ's in the scene... It all has a major impact in your brand and your work as a DJ.
I've said this a ton of times, and this is coming from someone who started DJing in 1995 ... and I completely get the attitude that attending a DJ school is kind of corny, ... but when the teachers are certified OGs, you are a FOOL to turn down lessons. If Jimmy Hendrix offers you guitar lessons, YOU TAKE THAT OFFER! Each one of these guys has deep knowledge. Even after DJing for over 25 years I still learned a ton in the online classes. Much respect to the Beat Junkies. Coolest dudes in the game.
Fellas these episodes you've been putting out are absolute gems. Thank you so much. The stories are so relatable, helpful and funny at times. The guest you are selecting are truly remarkable and in some cases under-rated. Nu-Mark, Clark-Kent, etc... As a DJ that lived a little bit of the old traditional way of DJing and now in the modern era, it is so heartening to hear their thoughts and learn for their wisdom. Nu-Mark is so fuggin cool and down to earth, I wish I could hang out with the guy and treat him to a drink. KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK!!!
Babu has always shown love to all the DJs. I met him, J Rocc and Shortkut when I was 17. Coolest dudes on the planet. They forever had an impact in my DJ career.
