Only 8 mins in, and this is a cracking video lads. Just picked up a 2018 f82 comp, and recently noticed that im having some oily burning smell occasionally coming through the cabin air vents. No fault codes, or noticeable oil level droppage, however i have quite a strong vacuum when opening oil filler cap when car is running. The only logical conclusion is that it is VCG, but even then, when i look where you guys looked for oil residue, theres not really anything noticeable. With that being said though, that smell isnt coming out of thin air, and so ive probably just caught it early. I plan on changing my charge pipes to better aftermarket ones, so i might as well crack out as many jobs as i can whilst im in that deep. Probs will change spark plugs and coil packs too. This video doesnt skip any of the finer details that couldve otherwise led to ambiguity for some viewers. Thanks again Rick... and rick.
No problem thank you for the feedback, just read this together and Rick believes your problem could be the PCV valve as the vacuum from the intake pulls in oil vapour from the rocker cover, let us know how you get on 👍
Back then in 2005, I turbocharged my 1.6 Civic VTi EG9. I road mapped it on Crome Pro with my mate driving it up and down Phoenix Parkway. Made all the pipework myself. Then later on, the same turbo kit I modified and fitted to my 1998 Integra Type R. I did many trackdays and road miles with it turbocharged, looked completely standard from the outside. This was mapped by RDT at Harworth, Doncaster. I still have that car albeit it's back to completely original now (worth more). Sold the forged block I built myself but I still have the rest of the turbo kit, ecu etc sat on a shelf in my garage.

@@MECHANRICKS not really, even a 200bhp car that handles like a dream is more than enough for today's roads. There's something special about the Integra, even as standard that gets under your skin. Even back then, I was in two minds modifying it, it was that good. Honda got it right with those cars. The VTi if I still had it, would be turbocharged in an instant.
I get it, I had chance last year to buy an Integra type R dc5 complete rolling shell for a mere £650. Kicking myself now about it but I've got a new project car that I'm keeping quiet for now but will be on the channel when I get into it

The cable should be in the kit but the fan has a cable with a white plug that go's directly into the back of the headunit, there's a full manual I've uploaded for you here that has wiring layout to try help uploadnow.io/f/mvsw0QH

You & me both, I had to figure it out the hard way without any help 😂 As an android phone user I'm not sure about car play on bootup but my daughter has an iPhone so if I figure that out I'll let you know 👍
Hi Mechanricks, I congratulate you for the video because you make it very easy to understand and install the screen. I recently bought one and I have a question: - I have not been able to get the steering wheel controls to work. After trying to configure them from the application they don't do anything, possibly I've left some cable to connect? I've tried to check all the cables again and I can't find what it could be. Thanks for your comment. Have you got the original Hazard light switch set connected to the black Y split cable and hidden behind the stereo? That was the problem I had originally
The Sat nav thats pre installed with full UK maps is iGo navigation. I find it to be really good, that been said with it being Android you can install any navigation software of your choice 👍
First of all thanks again for this video as iv just changed mine today! However now iv got a drivetrain fault and if I sit still it runs lumpy then cunts out. 😢 I did break the air intake breaker pipe and tapped it back up do you think this could be the cause? Themes can be downloaded from the settings menu but it does require an Internet connection, the theme shown in the video is the stock theme. I can do a short video showing the process of custom launchers and themes install if required 👍
You have the option of either using a sim card to be placed in the dongle with the wiring thats provided or you can go into settings on the stereo and connect it to any WiFi network available locally or by tething a mobile phone Internet connection. I hope this helps if not I'll make a short video to show the process 👍
I did this and caused overpressurised crank because pcv was full of oil. Blew my turbos within a week lol i always recommended new valve cover or atleast test diaphragm
@PALPABLEemotions changing just the gasket caused crank to over pressurise. Pcv was clogged full of oil carbon , no where to release pressure. Blew turbo seals and leaking rear main seal. New valve cover done the job though. No more problem touch wood

@@MECHANRICKS yeah was quoted 500 quid from local dealer , so spent 50 on parts and did it myself in 3/4 hours 👌🏻 would have took far bit longer if I didn’t have ur video tho

awesome video, very detailed. I've seen a couple where they replace the whole cover. how can you verify that the cover hasn't been damaged. what is the solution your spraying on the sides ? thank you for posting this video
Thank you for the comment, we identified the leak to be just the gasket in this occasion by thorough inspection, the cover can warp & crack but we determined that the cover was good on this occasion and the car is Ricks personal car so had we got it wrong we would of done the job again by replacing the cover. Its a tough call to make with a paying customer as if you change it all at the time its a guaranteed fix. Hopefully though with the help of this video some DIY'ers will be able to do the job themselves and save a lot of money. The solution being spayed is brake & clutch cleaner. If the breather pipe split, will it make the car run loss of power/ stutter? I have split mine and ducked taped temporary and my car now is stuttering at the moment. Ordering a new pipe now....
@@MECHANRICKS Bad news, 2 days ago I changed to a new pipe and the fault is still there :( It only stutter around 2.5k+/- rpm feeling like the fuel is not reaching the engine. Car is vibrating at that point. Prior to that - A few weeks ago I even replaced the sparkplugs at the same time when I changed the rocker cover. What else can it be? I'll have to try a live data log next I guess.?!
Try get some data from the ECU fault codes etc. And ensure the fuel injectors are connected and sealed properly. If the problem wasn't there before changing the cover/gasket it shouldn't be too difficult to find the fault

Hello 👋 we are based in UK and the model reference here is SE3P, its the 6 speed manual transmission, 231hp has full spec leather interior, sat nav etc. But it has no sunroof. I hope that helps 👍
@@MECHANRICKS We haven't purchased this particular set as we live in New Zealand. I've purchased some 2inch blocks that should lower it on the cheap, but just wondering if i should opt for new shocks whilst im down there. Thanks though!
No problem, I'd recommend upgrading the shocks if you can but if your going the budget route technically there's nothing stopping you from keeping the stock shocks on
