Channedy told the truth! I had noticed it but didn't know why they switch up. They was moving the ball at first and we was lookin good! Then something happened! They started just bringing up ball getting 1 screen then shooting. Anybody else notice this? 🤔
Chennedy really said it. They did go away from what was working and it costed them the W over one of the best teams. That type of win could’ve really boosted the confidence of this young team.
This was a game we should’ve won. How did we manage to only score 5 points in the fourth quarter as a collective? That right there is LITERALLY BAD FOR BUSINESS. The sky have all the tools to win, the talent is at every position but the discipline is not and that needs to change. Our rookies need a more specific training due to their positions because they gone take more contact and they have to know how to get around it or simply right through it. They need more work on fundamentals in inside scoring. They need to know the difference between a layup and a strong layup. You go up both arms,not just one. AR and KC shouldn’t be getting blocked at all In the paint because they are both over 6ft. The reason this happens is because they don’t use their rear to create space and they don’t use their off hand to protect the ball when they go up in the paint. I’m only six foot but I’d score on Aja Wilson all day in the whole because that’s where I specialize in basketball and I know how to use my body to bang for the scoring position I want and I know how to use my off hand to protect the ball while I’m going up. They need to use the backboard more but definitely from the left or right side of the basket. Angel needs to be coached on her inside follow through for sure. She brings the ball up from so low, it’s not hard to block it and I get nervous every time because of the soft touch. USE THE BACKBOARD! Kamilla needs to keep the ball high so no one can ever get to it being 6’7… wait! Doubled or not, how do you get blocked in a women’s league in the paint by shorter defenders?🧐 THAT AINT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN which is a clear indicator that you are moving wrong out there. I really feel Angel and kamilla need professional training from professional men players. I know for a fact Aja Wilson got trained like that because she does not play like a girl nor does Caitlin or chennedy. All three of them have a certain GUSTO to their game that definitely makes them more dominant than most players they face and that’s the formula our big rookies need in order to dominate in aggressive league like the W.
They training with guys but the guys ain’t making them physical AT ALL. NO RESISTANCE!! This is why they perform like girls on the court and not professional female basketball players. THEY NOT MAKING THEM EARN GROUND ON THE POST UP. They not working on Angel’s follow through on her inside shots. Angel can make shots confidently in practice but in games, she’ll hesitate and miss the open shot. THIS CHICAGO!!! AND YALL GOT TO GET THEM GIRLS TRAINED TO BLOW!!! 😲 because we definitely don’t see it right now. Y’all got two rookies that can potentially be superstars in the league but they won’t get there if y’all can’t develop them. Don’t let them think that cute shit gone win games because we can see it don’t. Don’t let them think that just because they were champions in college means they don’t have much to improve on in this grow ass woman league. These rookies need a DRILL SARGENT,someone who will drive home discipline and repetition until they are fundamentally sound in practice and games. Being lovey dovey with them will not give them the development that they need. “The best coaches always push their players further than what the players believe they can do”.
I don’t want to be the one to say this, Kamilla needs to develop or get waived. Her energy level is low, she’s slow getting back to defense and she just gives up offensively. She really needs to step it up. Exactly Chennedy!!! The team needs to finish strong. No reason to have list this game.
Don't forget that Angel and Kamilla haven't had break to rest their bodies. They battled in NCAA tournament, worked out for the draft and then went into playing in the WNBA. With an offseason to rest and heal up, they are going to really good next season.
I honestly don't think they cared about that. If they did, they wouldn't have until Reese had four players around her to get her the ball. That's neither here or there. Maybrie is not it. She's very selfish, she doesn't wait for the bigs to set screens, she really doesn't get the ball to to the bigs. She's slow, can't guard any solid guards, she spends most of her time complaining to the refs. Spoon should had never taken the starters off the st once. The reserves came in and scored 4. Now what really pissed me off was, when Reese was being double to trippled team, not one person moved so that she could pass out of it. They stood still just watching her. Cardosa has to get tougher in the paint. She plays soft at all times. Sky needs a solid PG, one that knows how to pick and pop, shoot consistently from the arch, understand the game as a whole.
@draystewart4283 i hear what u sayin but they was basically up when they was jus playin. As soon as they noticed they was runnin low on time they was forcin in that 4th qtr. They got problems jus like fever but they not younger so it ain't no excuse. Carter a gunner kus like Mitchell a gunner but cc passin make them better. Reese not a real post player she basically a gunning big that jus get the ball n drive 2 score when she pass she basically don't even move herself. Plus she gotta block better. If reese ain't score most of the game ain't no reason 2 try 2 get her the ball down 6 but they did that cuz all know she needed the points 4 her double double. Even them it still took a loose ball foul in the penalty 2 get the 10th n 11th points n stop missed a ft. U could see reese was even more angry the last few mins cuz she noticed the time n her stats. Def complained more than the aces game cuz her double double was secured that game but not the win.
@draystewart4283 even 6 of her rebounds was off her own misses and she shot 25% she not slick she jus tryna get hers. And u can even tell her mama wanted the double double more than the win. Everyone was cheerin 4 the double double like they won
Coach who are your go to players and does the whole team know who they are? If not, we are going to keep losing games. Angel, Chennedy and Kamilla are getting frustrated because they are playing the right way, but others are playing selfish basketball.
The guards are not feeding the bigs in a timely manner and feeding the post when they are doubled teamed or not open! Kamilla looks over this team and angel looks tired the guards especially marbury can’t shoot that well Carter yes the rest nope!
I'm like Caitlyn crazies fire the coach she had how many days to get a player.she says same dam thang. She didn't shake up starting lineup until interviews pissed her off and she walked out. Lindsey ain't no point guard lies.
Coach teresa, it was no reason why your team lost. Your team has the better talent than minnesota, but they never gave up bcuz they have a winners mentality. I think your team is not used to winning bcuz they give up in the 4th quarter too much, and that is why Angel took the game over in crucial minutes of the 4th quarter against the fever.. Coach, get your team head right mentally
Mann I wish should could work with someone that can improve her form and inside game she is good she is better then Clark because she can play before sides of the court Clark good but she can’t really match up with any one in the W
Understanding that this is just pregame warmups for Angel, but from this and all the behind the scenes footage we’ve been able to witness, the Sky are doing Angel (and Kamilla) a tremendous disservice in how they’re trying to improve and expand the offensive aspects of their games. Because they both do most of their damage in the post/paint area, the opposing teams scouting reports now scheme against them defensively through traps and double teams, thus neutralizing any effectiveness they might have on this end of the floor. They need to work with them both on their jump shots (including tweaking mechanics) and when/where they’re taking them ie; when wide open, at the nail, elbow and even top of the key. In today’s game against the Lynx, Angel hesitated then missed what should’ve been a routine mid-range shot at this point in her growth. Same for Kamilla; at “6-7” can’t believe she went 1-10 on all close range layup type shots. They both lack fundamentals such as a basic shot fake and footwork to make aggressive defenders pay the price. Also, need more cutters to dish the ball to when the defense collapses and how to pass out to your shooters (they need more of these as well) for easier uncontested shots. They’re rookies and will get it, but this is not how you develop high round draft picks that come from winning college programs for future success 😢.
Minnesota had an awful game, yet they win. No excuses! Basketball is a team sports. Angel an Kamilla are use to winning. Both coming from winning institutions. Individual basketball does not win you Championships. But you need your Best players to step up. Kamilla has no confidence in this unit. And you can see it in her game. Angel is a 'Dawg" she will fight hard for every point. Kamilla is not the same. With Kamilla its a timing thing. Chi guards will dribble with heads down, not looking for KC or AR. Then takes a lousy shot. That part is called 'INDIVIDUAL BALL'. Basketball IQ is important. You know who is adapting to a total team in order to win? CAITLIN CLARK! Her 3's are down, because she is passing the ball to her forwards, and most important, HER CENTER. SHE PREFERS TO WIN THAN INDIVIDUAL STATS. And guess what? That's the way to WIN. Chi guards needs to understand that, they are not superstars. Give the ball to your BIGS, AND NOT WAIT UNTILL THEY ARE DOUBLE TEAMED. People are saying Kamilla needs to do this and that. HELL NO! she needs to do nothing! The team need some structure and chemistry. Angel is tired! I can almost see that on her face. She is getting the ball late in the count, then she has to work hard to put that ball up. Kamilla rarely gets the ball before she is double teamed. Maybe you all need to watch some SC films and see how team concept works when it come to Kamilla. Dawn Staley TAUGHT the whole South Carolina team HOW TO WIN, by using this concept. FEED THE BIGS AND YOUR FORWARD (Caitlin is doing that right now with the fever) but, if there is a lane to go to the hoop, take it! Basketball IQ, back door cuts, pick and roll, creative ways of getting baskets not only just set plays. Chi players are playing individual ball. Kamilla is not use to that. Her confidence is quite low right now. You need to give her a touch early in the count. If it good she will take the shot or pass it out to an open receiver, or while she is double teamed, pass it to Angel for an easier basket and vice/versa, and in the process freeing up the guards. Simple things that can make this team unstoppable, but you have to buy in the concept of less is more for the guards, except for Carter, and winning.
I REALLY HOPE that someone from the Chicago Sky “Camp” reads this because we need some Double Double NON-STOP WINSSSSSSSSSSS and this “Coaching Game” he just spit in their ears right here WILL HELP US to get the WINS we desperately need! I’m a fan , a player and I know basketball well enough since I’ve played to know this is PURE “GOLD” if they only get to read this information and take heed.
I totally agree with you Marina Mabry won’t even look Reese or Cardoso way, I’ve been saying it for weeks, she’s a terrible team player. Bring her off the bench when Angel and Cardoso are not on the floor.
Caitlin Clark is TURNOVER QUEEN. We don't need more turnover QUEENS. We got 5 Turnovers from Carter. Then 4 TURNOVERS from Mabrey. ANGEL SHOULD BE THE POINT GUARD FOR THE TEAM. She is the best shooter/ scorer/ rebounding player/ defensive MONSTER/ POST DEFENDER/ ON-BALL DEFENDER/ PASSER/ STEALER/ MVP/ LEAGUE LEADING REBOUNDER/ BET AWARD WINNER/ MET GALA. Angel was the point guard in high school and won national championships. She is BETTER than all the players on the team at passing and shooting. She scores more points against double teams than anybody in WNBA history. She is the only rookie to have a game of 20 points 16 rebounds and 5 assists. If she plays a PG she can average 8 assists because they always double team her. She can be a TRIPLE DOUBLE QUEEN when she plays Point Guard. Angel is best passer in the world. She won CHAMPIONSHIP. She is who we watch for. She got 8000 kids to come watch her play.

You noticed exactly what I noticed about the defensive plays created to stop Angel. Even the commentators said that practiced plays to double and triple team Reese! We basically defeated ourselves! We didn't have an offensive answer in the 4th quarter, and it hurt us!!! One thing about this team is that they will work hard to fix the issues... and there are a lot of issues right now!!!
Angel desperately needs a mid range jumper or set shot. Her offensive package is limited. She has some good spin moves, but she only scores on layups. She has to have more confidence in the middy!
@philb.1502 exactly. She practiced her jumpers leading up to this season. If she does it in practice and can't during a game, then it may be her confidence. If you miss 12 shots, make sure they're jumpers. Practice in the game.
@michaelblake6502 I've seen her working out before the WNBA season, and she makes the mid range shots in practice. She looks comfortable shooting it. Most players would just give her that shot in the games. They wouldn't want to crowd her so she could blow by them.
