@@BrianGayAnglingImages I've lived in the US for 33 years now, I used to live in the vicinity of Willow Park, Gold Valley, the Basingstoke Canal. I had no idea all these Will Raison videos existed until 4 months ago, they were the impetus to order a new seat box and get out fishing again (10+ years absence). My fishing and preparation (boxes full of hook lengths) has improved a 100 fold, I have watched some of the videos multiple times as it is "Vitally...vitally important!". Thanks for posting
Another great video, even though I live in the US and the fish are very different it still applies. Using a similar method I had a great day catching 'suckers', a smaller version of a barbel. I caught a few small carp too, I doubt I would have caught any suckers, I didn't know there were that many suckers in that particular place. Awesome stuff
When did fishing become so ridiculously over complicated? Bread, bran, and micros, thats all you need all year round. Hookbait, maggot, bread, 6-8 mm pellet. Save your money, no need for fancy pellets etc, buy yourself another beer instead😊
Don't forget these vids are ads for the various products headed by sponsored anglers. 'Oh you can't do without xyz. You won't catch.' Don't believe the hype. See others comments - over £1k's worth of kit.
Will talks about them in an earlier video from which this short comes from specifically about crayfish Avoiding CRAYFISH When Fishing With Worms. #crawfish #crays #shellfish #fishing #problemsolving ru-vid.combsfOVOowVeI?feature=share
Will Raison is a man who has been a full time professional angler since he left school probably 30 years ago now. He’s win World,Euro, 6 Nation and UK Champs as well as numerous matches across a wide range of disciplines so I think he knows fishing!
Hi Will, I bought one of your catapults a while ago, (a Tenner) & I've more maggots on my feet than in the water!! Any tips for using it correctly ? It's the one with the thru', adjustable elastic & tapered/cone pouch.
Hi it’s Brian here, I shot these videos with Will. I’ve done a lot of feeding maggots by catty myself over the years. Key is don’t overfill the pouch plus keep the pouch pointing upwards as you fill it. Then push the catapult frame out away from you in the direction you want to feed, until the elastic is fully stretched. Make sure the frame of the catty is higher than the pouch so that there is an incline in the stretched elastic from pouch to frame. With the elastic fully stretched let go of the pouch and the maggots will fire out to the swim in a tight group. It is always easier to fire out bait when the elastic is fully stretched. To achieve different distances too anglers carry several cattys with different strengths and lengths of elastic. Although this short clip is talking about groundbait catapults it is a similar principle: ru-vid.com3zAi5IFjUwE?si=s1er8x_JqWhuABrI
Maybe a drilled, floating dog biscuit would also work ? They come in different colours like pink, yellow (ish) and Much cheaper than "Pop Up" Boilies + the Meaty Smell !!
What waggler float do i I use for different depths? Is there a method of finding out ? The river I’m fishing at is around 8 feet deep, which size do I use ?
@@thiagosupreame1489 Brian here, it depends on many details, as well as depth of water, the speed and power of the flow is a factor, is the water smooth and steady or is it turbulent, rough and varying? How far do you have to cast to fish the part of the river you target? Are you fishing near the surface, midwater, full depth or are you dragging line over depth along the bottom. Also very important what are the target fish? This all has an influence on waggler choice. Generally the faster the flow and more powerful the water flow a bigger more buoyant float with a thicker tip is necessary. Slower water and calmer water you can use slimmer smaller floats. In any case always make sure that you choose a float heavy enough to cast the distance you need without struggling.
..For me, The pop-up looks too far away from the method and a little too high in the water, because the whole idea is for the fish to find the pellet/groundbait and suck the whole thing in in one. To me, the fish has the choice to ignore the hook-bait and just eat the pellets, but the next time I go fishing,I'll give it a go because it's always nice to have something new in your armoury to use if all other methods fail. I love Gold valley by the way. Been going there for years..!!
Well the fish might go for the groundbait or pellets but the whole reason Will suggested this video subject was because he been doing very well with it as shown. That said fishing is always evolving, with rigs and baits refining. Experimentation to find what works for you is a good thing.
Just wanna say, after watching a ton of Will Raison (legend) videos my playing of carp on the pole has way improved. I visited my local pond yesterday which is full of wild carp, nobody fishes it, they fight like hell and when they see the net they go ballistic. And I never saw a puller bung before but I bought a couple when I visited the UK, game changer. Anyway I caught 11 fish to 17lb and never lost one. Thanks Buddy.
Generally you don’t want to overwet the paste powder be it crushed pellets, groundbait or a commercially available paste mix. The old adage of adding water a little at a time and kneading the ‘dough’ until you get the desired consistency is key.

Thanks for the update Den your videos are an absolute gold mine. I knocked up some wagglers with the gel pen insert. I'm curious are you an engineer off some sort because things you make in the channel are unbelievably clever mate.
I had to stop making the films with Will as I have blood cancer. These are films that were previously only available to subscribers. I have made them available as they still have many valid tips and information. It does say in the description that the videos are from the back catalogue. I am on daily chemotherapy meds so I won’t be making any new films with Will but I still have several to load up. I hope that answers your question kind regards Brian Gay.
I find even with no skim on the water, you still get drift. If you don't sink the line. Do you sink the line when fishing pellet waggler & do you put a small dust shot near the hook ?
