Initially, intended this channel to be private for my children's viewing only [private person by nature]. Aspiring to be more open and share more thoughts. So hope info helps anyone along their journey that might find it useful. Nothing fancy but to the point. All have captions as I tend to retain info better by reading and listening in tandem and believe that, in general, the majority of people do as well.
Let US learn together;) Shall WE? One bite @ a time:)
Studies have shown that people with a normal or low BMI (body mass index) tend to raise their LDL cholesterol when they go on a ketogenic very low carbohydrate diet. Some people with very low BMI even raise their LDL-cholesterol by hundreds of mg/dL which shocks their doctors. I'm not a very lean person (BMI=25) but my LDL-C rose by 40 mg/dL when I was on a keto diet. I know I was making ketones because I tested with a ketone breath device. The risk of cardiovascular disease due to this rise in LDL-C is being studied. Some studies found that older people actually live longer with a high LDL-C that is considered to be risky for heart attack and stroke. Overweight or obese people don't seem to experience the same rise in LDL-C, in fact, theirs may actually decrease on keto. Until it is better understood, it may be wise for non-overweight people to obtain ketones directly in the diet by consuming MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil or other supplements that the body converts into ketones without raising LDL-C. Watch videos and read about "lean mass hyper-responders" and Dr. Mary Newport's ketone experience with her Alzheimer's husband.
Very insightful. My LDL is consistently on the higher end while holding a relatively low BMI [16-19%]. Will look into Dr. Newport's experience as suggested. Thank you Stanley! -Nate
If this occurred it was simply a mistake. Yes AI does much of workload for this channel and I claim no different. Not here for money or fame. Just want to share some information that I find intriguing and/or helpful. Respectfully, -Nathaniel
