Urban Movement Arts (UMA) recognizes the body as the fulcrum of communication, creativity, and wellness. Our programs and classes, ranging from Yoga to Lindy Hop, work to fortify physical consciousness, bringing out the joy of discovering new ways of being and moving in the world. UMA has lots of Hip Hop flavor -- house, breaking, commercial, waacking-- and the soul of a holistic martial arts community. We are dedicated to supporting strength, flexibility and overall physicality to better promote creativity and adaptability in life. We welcome adults of all ages and experience levels. We guide movers and dancers to develop true connection to community and style.
This was genuinely a helpful video to strengthen your shoulders in general. I work at a computer all day and this video is helping so much to give strength back to my shoulders and upper back. I appreciate you so much!
The instruction and demonstration in this video are excellent but I really do not like the zooming in. As dancers, we want to see the whole body the whole time. Whenever I see a dance video zooming in, I suspect it was filmed or at least edited by someone who's not a dancer. Being able to see the zoomed-in parts up close didn't show me anything I wouldn't have been able to see otherwise and left me wishing I could see how the rest of the body was affected.
Don't know why, but I can't do pas de bouree properly. Feels like I missing something, and go chachacha instead. Do I need just more practice? Does upper body important in doing pas de bouree? May I put weight in the wrong leg? I often starting to switch legs(
Just FYI, pas de bourree is a ballet step and many dances have a version they call pas de bourree that is adapted to fit the style of that dance. If you look back at the ballet version, and then come back to the house version, it might help you understand it better.
Im really not trying to be mean but really i have no clue.. Are u sure this is hip hop? It just looks like regular freestyle dance. Its doesnt look like hiphop at all. I would love to take hip hip classes but i cant find any in Philly 😢.
