What period for me lately. I have discovered so good music like, Drab Majesty, Selofan, Twin Tribes, Second Still etc. and now this, absolutelu great song! Night in Athens!! Good music is not dead!
I've made a prediction among my colleagues regarding a Night in Athens over "Words Unspoken" ― Mareaux was a struggling Dark-wave artist, until he released "The Perfect Girl" and that song catapulted him into iconic status, all because one of his songs went viral. "The Perfect Girl" sat around for a long time before it finally began to snowball and grow with such momentum that it became mainstream ― "Words Unspoken" has the exact same potential. Although, I believe Mareaux's current personal confliction is he's locked between Pop-Culture music, which has separated from his humble Dark-wave roots. "Words Unspoken" has an easy and casual canter that's comforting, as the old music rule allows for: "Energetically quick, but not too much. Violent, but vigorous". It's incredibly intelligent to use the same synchronicity as a human heartbeat, just as Claude Debussy once said, “Music is the space between the notes”. Personally, as a modern minimalist, I appreciate how grounded "Words Unspoken" uses a simple synthesizer fluxium, with gentle but accurate guitar notes beautifully strung along together. NIA's vocal's are so sublime, ethereal, which makes NIA lyrics spring to life with very single windswept tone, which caress and can sooth anyone's tender ears. I'm the Senior Executive Editor for a very large music label, but I prefer to listen to Goth/Dark-wave music, mainly because I was apart of the 1980's Underground Subculture growing up. Yeah, I do listen to all sorts of music throughout my day (most of it 'is' junk), but I much prefer my own shadowy realms, where true genius resides. I predicted Mareaux, so I always trust my ear's about music, which had eventually gone viral. I believe that a Night in Athens "Words Unspoken" has got all the ingredients to set another precedent. My hat's off to everyone at Wave Records Music..... !!!!
