Very great tutorial i found, i need to tell my husband to watch this video so we will try to do our house crown molding. Jordan , thank u for sharing this video
I quit an outfit that thought you could run crown in a 12 x 14 room with inside outside angles perfectly in four hours or less. This is why people are leaving the trades. It cannot be done that fast unless that’s all you do is crown moulding for at least 5 years straight.
One can use a transition blocks when mixing 2 different profiles. And sometimes, like in your case, one can use the top part of the baseboard only to go around and over the stringer. This way one can miter the base with the stair moulding correctly. Butting trim like you did looks terrible. They are two separate trim details butted together. A pro would never do what you did, I'm sorry.
This m8ght sound stupid because it says where to put the t bevel, but how do you know where to exactly hold it so that you get the accurate angle.i feel like it would give the wrong angle if I held the bevel say like 1/8" to the left or right "too much"
Hey Brian, Where the vertical line meets the horizontal line is the point where the t bevel's blade has contact. This You tuber shows it better than I do. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uzeUG3r5XoY.html Hope this helps.
I was looking for options to spruce up our basement stairs, saw your wainscoting video using the sawset, l since I am terrible at figuring out angles. This tool is amazing, thank you for the videos and this great tool, made my stairway project enjoyable.
Wat? Oooor just put one part of the bevel against the fence, put the blade down, then rotate the saw blade until it touches the other part of the bevel….
I wonder if you can take the same concept and use a folding saw/knife or two shims screwed to pivot and butt up against a T square that has angle measurements to get the angle. I, too, do not have this specific tool but I have done this to get angles so far. I haven't made the cuts on the mitre yet since today brought rain but plan to test it out on some wood scraps starting on the conservative side of the angle to leave room for reduction if needed. I am not a pro builder but a "that's good enough" person that will shave fractions to perfection with my Japanese flush saw and use the winner as a template.
