i've been a candlepin bowler my whole life and i got to try duckpin recently and really liked it. there was a lot more pin action and higher scores. i'd like to try tenpin sometime also.
I wish there was more duckpin bowling. Standard duckpin bowling is the closest cousin to our 5 pin game. 3 balls per frame, same balls, similar difficulty. Although there has been (very few) perfect games in 5 pin, and none in duckpin, it does indicate that it's more difficult to get strikes in duckpin, but it's also much easier to spare splits.
If only someone can invent a new duckpin pinsetter and opening up a manufacture plant or warehouse to develop more of those. That pinsetter should be strictly free fall instead of the StringPin crap from Brunswick
I nevwr heard about the debate on 2 balls or 3 , why do people want to screw-up games, leave it at 3 balls, you can bowl those 2 ball games ,but ducks should always be 3. Look at baseball the game has been messed up with the pitch clock it's not baseball. Like 2 ball it's not Duckpin Bowling
Duckpin bowling is a safer sport compared to ten pin. Due to a torn right forearm flexor tendon, I had to retire from ten pin bowling. I can return to the sport through duckpin bowling. Thanks
I'm a scratch normal bowler. I tried duckpin once and it is a whole different world. You can't really try to hook it because it is inconsistent. Have to throw bullets and aim just off center and hope for the best.
What a match but why do announcers call terrible leaves a great shot. A 1-5 chop is not a perfect shot I hear this in duck and tenpins. Not so many 1-5 chops in ten pins 😊
What a fantastic finish, I wouldn't have believed it either if you was telling me it happened , but I had an almost similar thing happen in tens, i was up by 27 last frame the guy i was blowing against needed a 2 bagger and 8 to beat me he got tbe 3 bagger a d won
I bowled at barnum lanes for years during swedes time there and I could not believe how accurate he was and consistent on the lanes An average score for swede would be a top game for me and for anyone who has never bowled duckpin its a lot harder than one may think
I've tried all the forms of bowling. I bowled 5 pin mostly, but I also bowled tenpin, standard duckpin, Quebec rubberband duckpin, candlepin. I find standard duckpin to be most comparable to 5 pin. Love it!
When I was a little kid back in the 60’s between Lowell, Tewksbury and Billerica, Ma. there were quite a few duckpin lanes. They have all seemed to disappear around here now. Just Candlepin (my favorite) and 10 pin lanes now. Too bad, my Dad and I used enjoy both duckpin and Candlepins. 😊
Watching my grandmother bowl today and then watching her bowl in this video is so funny.. she hasn't changed a single bit. Same shots, same facial expressions, same little slide when she is headed back to her seat. I love it. I do wish I could find more videos of her bowling like this... or even her father Jimmy Wolfensberger.
