Some of Peter Green music I have multiple cuts of the same song recorded at sound city through 1 of a kind board seems like every band that were recorded on the nesis recording council came to be 100% big time hits.
If you want to thank God for something, let it be the music that Peter Green made for our listening pleasure, ‘cause this stuff is so incredibly beautiful! Ya’ just gotta love his guitar playing and the wonderful feeling his music affords you even all these years later.
John Mayall with Eric Clapton is rooted in the blues with covers of Otis Rush, Freddie King, Mose Allison, etc. This was British artists interpreting their American idols. Then comes along Peter Green and The Supernatural. The Supernatural is one of the most ethereal, haunting , beautiful songs I have ever heard. It shows Peter Green's exceptional guitar and compostion skills. It seems completely out of place and credit to Mayall to allowed Peter Green to record it. Peter Green's tone and feel is out of this world. I have never understood why this song has been over-looked for so long.
Danny Kirwan added huge aggression to the sound of Fleetwood Mac as can be heard here. Apparemtly when he joined Fleetwood Mac he was using a Watkins Rapier but Peter Green felt a litle embarassed and bought him a Les Paul. I don't think it mattered too much it was Danny's skill and vibrato that produced that sound. Sadly I never got to see them live.
My Peter Green Set List: The Stumble, The Supernatural, Greeny, Merry-Go-Round, I loved Another Woman, The World Keep on Turning, Stop Messin' Round, Rollin' Man, Love That Burns, If You Be My Baby, Lazy Poker Blues, Need Your Love So Bad, Albatross, Black Magic Woman, Just The Blues, Jigsaw Puzzle Blues, Showbiz Blues, My Dream, Oh Well, Searching For Madge, Fighting For Madge, Something Inside Of Me (Danny Kirwan on lead guitar and vocals), Jumping At Shadows, Still Got The Blues (Gary Moore on vocals and Peter's guitar). Best Blues Set I could ever imagine!
I had the pleasure to see Fleetwood mac in a large local pub in stafford in the 60's they were brilliant a wall of orange speakers at the rear of the room from floor to ceiling took 2 days for my eats to stop buzzing..
I loved all the white Chigargo blues guitarists Clapton Broomfield and this track from Peter Green got me as i recal on a B side of a 45rpm single ? His Freddy King phrasing has his own timing and attack that really stands out great track thank you all for keeping this genre of music alive great stuff
Absolutely brilliant! Love Peter Green, love John Mayall! What a combination! What soul lifting, musical genius in these men. You are sadly missed Peter! This music is still as moving as it was the first time I heard it! Beautiful!
Heard this back in 1966 or so, Peter with Mayall's Bluesbreakers. It has remained one of my absolute fav, still listening to it after all these years. That's how good dit is. Thank you Peter Green and may you rest in peace.
