That's really lovely. It can't be polished, but you could probably coat it with some resin so the colors show better and it's a bit less delicate.

Hat to say it but where they have you digging is way to high. I used to go 2-3 time a year 2 weeks at a time. Harry had the opal layer exposed about 5-10 deeper. Once they passed and son's wife got hands on....they have you digging upoer layer nothing really in it. I have some amazing pieces of Black Opal. When you hit a piece you will hear it shatter like glass. I haven't been in years How much are they charging to dig in bank? Wish I could send pictures. Hope you had fun.....
@chains369
@chains369 Месяц назад
We did have a great time. We have been twice now. First time we dug the tailings. This time, we dug the bank. I believe it was $175 a person to dig the bank for the whole day. 8am to 4pm? You would have to check their website to confirm. We got a handful of decent tiny limb casts. Thanks for the information, we will keep it in mind the next time we go.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself. We did enjoy ourselves very much. There was a ton of people there, lots of vendors and booths, people with their dogs, live music from Wingfield, plus an acoustic stage on the other side of the street. The beer lines were kind of long but understandable with the amount of people there. Also the $10 entry fee is good for all of the days that it's open which was Saturday and Sunday.

My brother and I would spend our vacation time from school with our grandparents who lived in Reno in the 80s . We would ride our bikes to the Museums at UNR. Loved it. Put me on the path to rock hounding and even A gold miner for 10yrs between Arizona, Nevada, California, British Columbia and Yukon territory, before the mining shows. It's a must see take your kids! Get them into outdoor activities. I even mentioned we rode our bikes😂✌️😎. Can't wait to tell my brother. Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii.. I love the geology and history here also!!

Hey too funny, I noticed something else Craig said while talking to y’all about the opal I found two days earlier.. see how the hole is stretched out towards you? He mentioned he dug all day yesterday and found nothing.. That’s because I was about 3 feet from the wall back to the wall in the zone.. look where he expanded and notice he went the wrong direction 🤷‍♂️😊 that half broken down hump at the base of the wall on the left there is where he needed to follow up my digging. 😞 I feel bad, he got all juiced and ready to find something and missed by that much. Funny story, I was the second on that hole. The guy the day before missed it by 6 inches to the left.. 😅🤷‍♂️ It’s a roll of the dice where any of it is. I feel blessed. And it’s super neat y’all were there two days later. I think I’ve watched your video 3-4 times now.. 😅🤷‍♂️ Y’all should come out opening day 2023. ✌️ I miss Craig. 😊 he’s the other reason I’ve rewatched your video. He’s a funny and very intelligent guy to hang out digging opal with isn’t he? 😊✌️
