I rode this bad boy out. Someone had to stay home with the animals and being the oldest gave me the short straw. It got a bit hairy for hours on end but now that it is just a memory I'm glad I did. It was Mother Nature at her most ticked off ! I had a neighbor across the street that rode it out as well. We signaled each other with flashlights and came out to meet in the street when the eye passed over. The thing that sucks about the eye passing over is that you know that you still have another half of the storm coming at you. And wouldn't you know it? As soon as the storm moved inland the looters came out. It takes a real piece of crap to steal from people who lost most everything that they spent a lifetime working for only to have it all blown away in 48 hours, Thank GOD for local law enforcement and the National Guard. They came down the street about an hour or two before landfall so they knew I was there and came back to check on me after. Between me and the old cat across the street we were well armed and ran those freaking looters off in a heartbeat and had them arrested before they made it back to the main road. My daughters house is a doozy. We lost a few shingles and that was all. I don't think I will ride out another.
It’s still in progress because some of the buildings are waiting for Insurance money or ran out of money but it looks way better than before but most of the buildings or houses that are not done are in the other side of town

Hurricane Harvey was strong and stayed around an unusually long time and produced very many tornadoes. It was a long night...noisey from 7pm till 7am...only quiet for a short time here where the edge of the eye went by {near the crossroads of 188 and 1069. We're on 10 acres of broken-up trees, still a mess

I'm so sorry about your dogs. Have you checked the online listings and photos for every shelter in the region, even on the other side of the metro? I've used Petfinder, because they list dozens of private shelters in addition to the city/county ones. And there are hundreds of photos of dogs/cats. Your dogs might have been found and taken to one of the shelters.
be careful !!! FAA prohibits drones during emergency services operations - regardless of whether pilot has FAA Part 107 license a TFR and NOTAM has been issued for the entire Houston greater area - also please note - the FAA is using videos like this to locate owners of drones and prosecute - both owners and broadcasters are liable and can be fined $25k per instance.
Why has there been no aerial footage or reports from the Buffalo Bayou / White Oak Bayou flooding impact on the Houston Ship Channel and all the refineries and chemical plants? Many of those facilities have evaporation ponds full of toxic chemical that are flooded. No reports of the emergency shutdown of the refineries and chemical plants and releases into the atmosphere of toxic chemicals. Impossible to put out spill containment equipment due to flood water movement in the Ship Channel. Port Authur / Beaumont area refineries and chemical plants are experiencing the same flooding as the storm track moved East.
There's been quite a lot in the news on that, including national news today. One chemical plant is apparently in danger of an explosion. Even though this is being covered, it's not nearly enough.
Having worked in the petrochemical and nuclear power plants for 25 years, you do not want to broadcast any vulnerability at any oil or power site. It's is wise to not PUBLISH the actual facilities. But there are numerous videos on Texas City, Baytown, Pasadena, Port Arthur, Sabine Pass, and the homes in the cities. Gotta dig for them, but share w locals. Good question for those who care! TexasStrong, AllHoustonAreasStrong. Bottom line, if they are flooded you cannot run any facility that's flooded, remember they all have their own containment walls which may be full. That's common sense.
PLEASE HELP US, YOUR NEIGHBORS. DESPERATE NEED FOR OPEN ROAD INFO. Your drone could save lives. Please fly from FM 1960 up Stuebner, thru Cypresswood to the HEB on Louetta or in reverse. No one has shown if Stuebner is open. HEB pharmacy is open, but CVS is gone. You can help so many people in Champions Forest get meds. We are safe, high & dry but can't see if we can get to HEB for people's meds. The store doesn't know if Stuebner at Champions Forest Baptist Church on Spring Creek or if Cypresswood is passable. So many need help, your videos MEAN SO MUCH. Thank you for this video. Have shared around the world. Great details in description. Keep drone videos coming. CopperLace yes I will go check that now and let you know asap. The restrictions are to make sure airspace is clear for emergency personnel and the fines for violation are significant. The rescue helicopters have to change course often so they want everything to be clear.
Weston Eddins Just realized you were really flying & not drone. So sorry for mistake. Any ground video from your truck would be the most helpful. Many are still proud Texans & because they are safe want to drive. I am going thru my neighborhood on foot, to see what needs are. So far, most have needs for meds, food, but want to go themselves so those that the rest of Houston that have lost all...get the primary help. IMHO, I believe a video with verbal comments from your truck about Stuebner going up to Louetta, same for FM 1960 between Champions Forest Shopping Center and the Home Depot, maybe thru to IH -45. Best, after Stuebner would be condition of FM 1960 from 249 to IH-45. I am good at research, but I have found no visual evidence of how to leave Champions Forest, Wunderlick, or Champions Terrace going up Stuebner or to 249 or IH- 45. We need your info to share w all. So kind to offer help, but safe routes to drive is the most impt, after HEB. Is Randalls on 1960 open, can people drive there? Giving our neighbors safe options for to travel is so important. Some of my neighbors are going out in reg cars this afternoon, alone, blind to safe routes. We could use your comments & truck videos for all the diff Homeowners Associations to post.
