They are all beautiful. But again, like Rose's, they do not do that great here 😢. Gotta save the real-estate space for plants that do. However, greatly enjoyed the tour and seeing so many variations. It's nice to dream lol. Who knows, maybe someday I'll move back to the midwest area where things don't get so stressed.
I'm with ya. I think Day lilies are pretty. But I've never been ooohhhh I've gotta have tons in my garden lol. Here in the South East, I've just found that with our extreme rainfall and humidity, they usually look very haggard and beaten. But they are pretty when in someone else's garden hahaha 😆 😂
They were all beautiful, the only thing I would have to see was the names of the ones that you passed by that were already done blooming , to help determine early, mid and late season bloomers
Daylilies are my FAVORITE sun perennial !!!! And, I prefer the plain/no ruffle petals...also love spider blooms. Don't see many of those. I think the Stella's are so popular because that is what most garden centers have to offer, and the price point is good. Anyway, I enjoyed this video !
Heidi, can you find out if the agapanthus at 13:36 is hardy if left in the landscape? I live NW of Detroit and purchased 2 beautiful agapanthus this year. I'm reading different reports on wintering them over.
Beautiful garden tour Heidi! I have a Q please? I have some Red Hot Pokers I bought from PW spring 2023, I received 5. 1 got 1 bloom last year and again 1 this year, and now the foliage which looked great is all turning brown 😕 I live in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast, they are planted in my East facing bed.... I dont know what I am doing so wrong. (?) I love them and want to grow them.... any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi ! Love your videos, I got 2 of banana cream ll gallon pot seens I got them they came like trimmed I was trying to giving them time to bloom but now they look like some of the leaves look crispy even though I water them 3 times per week every time it shows new buds for some reason end it up fading in color turns like brown and don’t flower 😢 or if flower’s is like the bloom comes in half like it was trying to come out but didn’t make it
Hi Heidi. I have been following for 5 or 6 years. This past May I finally got to visit in person which was a bucket list wish. After watching so long I think you’ve really covered all topics. When I first started watching, you were talking about planting parties. I wish that was something available on this opposite side of Michigan. It’s been fun watching your garden center grow throughout the years and dealing with challenges as they come along. I appreciate the honest feedback on how plants perform. Thanks for the great content!
Wow Heidi, this was a good time for this tour, especially for those of us who are looking at our flower beds and wanting more things and color in bloom! Some very beautiful combinations of flower groupings you showed here, I'm definitely taking notes. So many vibrant intense colors in bloom there. Proven Winners has really changed the garden world, nothing compares to these outstanding varieties. Thanks for sharing these updates throughout the season.
When I buy the supertunias the blooms are huge but no matter how much or often i fertilize the blooms get smaller and smaller over the summer. I’m in zone 7a/b and every year it’s like this. Full sun and 6hrs of sun doesn’t matter. What kind of steroids (in jest) are they using? Thank you for the video and makes perfect sense about the bucket method. That starts today.
Heidi, thanks so much for posting these videos. It is clearly apparent that you put a fair amount of time and effort into this. They show the variety of plants which are available to gardeners, especially new releases. They also provide great ideas for garden designs. I also like that the videos present the accurate color representation of the plants in the garden. Often some providers will boost the color saturation of the pictures of the plants they offer. I don’t think some consumers realize this marketing strategy. Your videos provide us an honest presentation. One thing that I don’t find much information on in this hobby is what I refer to as “strategic gardening” to protect the plants from pests. For example, I have planted seven varieties of clematis in my gardens. Shading of the roots and providing sun for the vines is indeed important. But for four of the varieties of clematis I planted, the rabbits mow them down. Most are reslient and will keep producing new leaves, only to be eaten again by the rabbits. This year I did an experient and planted agastache right next to the three of the clematis, and it keeps the rabbits completely away. The clematis immediately started to flourish. My next experiment will be with heliopsis, which I absolutely love. The rabbits devour it quickly to the point where I have lost every plant I put in the ground. Perhaps if I surround the heliopsis with tall salvia, I may achieve the same result and preserve my beautiful plants. I think a video (or even a book) on this topic would be beneficial to both gardeners and garden centers. Some of this information is available for vegetable gardening (like using marigolds as a barrier). But I have yet to find any substantial information like this for protecting perennials.
Thanks for subscribing! I like where you are going with your thoughts. I am not sure if there is anything out there. I will ask around to some of my industry friends and see if i can come up with anything.
Do deer ever visit your garden center gardens? I was wondering how you protect your big leaf hydrangeas from deer. Love this garden, the pink looks fabulous with the sunflowers, purple grass and the various coleus. Your videos are always an inspiration and informative.
I just received the plants that I ordered from Garden Crossing and they’re beautiful. I ordered a total of 10 different plants and they are all in great shape. And the soil is still moist. I will be putting them in the ground tomorrow.
I'm curious how old are your BOBO hydrangeas? The stems look thick and do you have drooping/flopping issues? I have some that are in there forth season and only one doesn't droop that much. However several days of rain they are laying on the ground basically. I believe it's in how I'm trimming them or does age of shrub matter? I got them for the size and for the fact that they are not suppose to flop...Help Thanks from ATLANTA
