A cool detail in *Sly 2* is that, throughout your missions, you can occasionally spot Clockwerk lurking in the background, watching from a distance. This subtle yet eerie presence foreshadows his eventual return, adding a layer of suspense and anticipation as you play. It's a clever narrative device that builds tension without drawing too much attention, making the final confrontation feel all the more inevitable.( i dont know why i wrote this like my college essay, just rolled off my tongue that way😂)
I used to play these games religiously as a kid. I actually used to wake up early before school to try and progress and always got in trouble because of it. But I absolutely love these games!!
For anyone somehow playing this today: To get the golf ball up that last ramp, you can't move it directly forward, otherwise the ball rolls in its opposite vector. Start by blowing it up the ramp's left side, pointing your reef blower a bit to the left as well. Persistence is key; keep blowing a distance away until the ball slowly nudges up. Don't let it touch the ramp's right, though, otherwise you'll have to start over.
15:13 when I was playing this when I was little, every time I got to this part of this mission and the Contessa said this, I thought she was just being really mean and insulting Carmelita. Had no idea that the superego was a thing. Thought for sure she was just saying that Carmelita had a huge ego that needed to be knocked down a few pegs. 😂
14:28 while it’s always a good idea to get all 30 clues as soon as you can (I personally always do/did it first thing before any mission) as it helps get the lay of the land and learn the best ways to traverse the map, Chapter 4 is one where even after you free Sly, it’s best to do it after you get back to the safe house since you’re technically still in a mission. While it doesn’t matter, should you die while clue hunting, I think you respawn back in the jail yard and it’s a bit of a nuisance imo. 17:38 and as far as swinging being easier now, I think the first game was always a little finicky as far as “jump and hit the circle button” went in regards to some of the thieve moves like swinging or spire jumps. The second and third games felt much better control wise imo but that could just be because of progression in video games.
12:53 I’ve always found it hilarious that sly says to be careful with the ruby since its fragile, and yet he beats it with his cane and has it fall like 10-20 feet to the ground where Murray can pick it up. 😂
8:48 Just for anyone playing this for the first time: you’re able to get all 30 clues in the level from the start of the mission. None of them are locked behind mission completion. This last clue is just a matter of finding the right vines to climb up to be able to get past the locked gate into that section of the world.
I know this is like 2 years too late, but the reason you weren’t able to be saved from the water while running from the giant snake was because it hit you while you had no charms, which caused you to fall into the water. Wether you have a charm or not you’ll be safe from falling into water with that ability. 19:13
i know this is 9 years ago but at 12:22 you're meant to hit the mines with your wrench to kill them, there's no way to outrun them or you can shoot them at range with the blaster
I’ve made it to the end! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this through and seeing you improve at the gameplay over time, from your initial pacifist run to here 😆 I do plan on watching the completionist video but I’ll need to find time for it LOL great series all the way through though!
I was so confused about deadlocked.... Because in my country New Zealand it was called Ratchet and Clank Gladiator. I was wondering why it wasn't on the list
I love how Rioichi and Bently get on each others nerves. Bently is used to reminding his friends to be safe, and Rioichi knows what hes doing. It makes me laugh.
Ive seen a tumbler post about when a group needs someone to be thr whore, its usually the female lead. But they remarked how much BETTER it would be if it was like the super strong bulky dude. And its the BEST when the strong dude WANTS to be the whore. Murrays whole scene at the end of this always reminds me of that tumbler post.
When i watch Sly fake his amnesia the first time, i literally screamed NOOOOOOOOOO inside my car. I didnt know he was faking it at the time. Now its a funny memory.
I’ve made it to Sly 3-wasn’t going to comment on progress until the very end of the series (I’m a lurker) but this is the main thing I’ve been waiting for as it’s my favorite game in the whole franchise, the first one I played and all that-very nostalgic and I can’t wait to see what you think of it!
I enjoy watching people experience this series and all of its twists and turns for the first time so I am absolutely going to binge this playthrough start to finish
Thank you for uploading all of these!! I always wanted to play this game, but since it was the only game for the Move that I wanted, my parents never got it for us lol
I’ve been wondering the same thing. I understand it isn’t the most obvious design element in the series, but there’s plenty of them that I feel like even subconsciously a player would try it out of curiosity, or lack of better options. I was practically still an infant when I first played this game so I cannot remember ever actually learning that these were trampolines, but I can say it has always felt like second-nature. I’m wondering where the discrepancy is between people who know and those who don’t realize.
